    Pretty sad year for MMORPG's to be honest.  All of the games that I'm looking forward to were pushed back to 2017 like Crowfall, Camelot Unchained and Chronicles.

    I would say BDO for best new game, except it took the genre so many steps backwards that I'm disinclined to even mention it.  Gender locking this late in the lifecycle of the genre?  Body type locking this late in the lifecycle of the genre?  Endless mob grinding this late in the lifecycle of the genre?  Look, the last thing I am is a raging SJW, but ffs, it's a game... let me build my own goddamn character exactly how I want.  This game took one huge leap forward in the graphics departments and jumped off a fucking cliff in the progressive game design department.

    Can't really fill in all those because in my opinion, there are really only two MMOs: ESO and the shit-pile that is not ESO.

    2017 is going to be a very bleak year unless something changes quickly.

    In any case Ill skip my vote this year, nothing have really stood out this year. I would vote for Pantheon as most anticipated but it wont release 2017. Maybe CU might release but I am not as sure about it.o).

    I hope 2017 gives us a few good surprises, 2016 is one of the weakest years since I started with MMOs in 1996. Yeah, BDO was acceptable but not much more and the only thing we heard from from the western games were cancellations and a little indie alpha footage from games we wont see for long yet.

    Dang, I sound depressed, sorry about that but some MMO years are just better then others.

    In almost 3 years I've only left ESO for two short periods to play Archeage and BDO so I guess my vote is pretty clear.

    The most obvious thing that could change is your mind being more open heh. Only seeing ESO and everythig else as shit pile says a lot about ignoring the wealth of great games out there.
    This coming from someone who lists "The US Elections" as their MMO of the year. Pffft. Move along.

    Well gaming is way to obig a business to sift through them all,so just looking at the MMORPG genre....nothing deserves any recognition,just more of the same old same old. Yellow ?'s,boring static npc's that are linked to a quest that might have a few repeating voice overs,nothing more.Worlds are DEAD,just dot around some mobs the team has created and ....yep tie them into those boring quests that are linked to those yellow ?'s.

    But hey ...we have RAID dungeons....ummm ok thanks ba bye.
    WAIT !! we have pvp,open world looting...umm yeah have a nice day.
    Well we have easy mode one shotting aoe's !!! Thanks,i'll be sure to steer clear of your game and wander over to isle 3 where the toilet paper is sold.

    When someone puts out a mmorpg that looks like some thought and creativity went into it and didn't come off some cookie cutter line,i will stand up and cheer.As of right now,NO AWARDS are given.

    There are so many "great" MMOs that "None of the above" would be the clear winner in many categories.

    "Something BDO..." and "...something ESO" is my conclusion of 2016.

    For everything else it's mostly:



    Gaming-wise, the only good thing about 2016 was that it has been my year of discovering many great games that are non-mmorpgs.

    Black Desert is mmo of the year. 

    Game launched in Korea and now has expanded to Russia, Europe, Japan, North America, Taiwan and soon South America.


    Any other mmo has done this please enlighten me.  ;)
