A new indie MMO called Ashes of Creation has literally jumped out of nowhere from a company called Intrepid Studios, one made up of veteran game developers, though who they are exactly remains to be seen. Ashes of Creation is set in a dynamic ever-changing world with history determined by the players. Quests unlock as populations grow and as discoveries are made.

This looks like one to watch, for sure. Though Kickstarter has me wary already.

Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

Going to be doing some video coverage on this one

This looks like one to watch, for sure. Though Kickstarter has me wary already.

Also seems the game as been funded heavily through its
development by just one rich guys so far, so the
kickstarter thing wouldnt worry me as much
considering they have invested a larger chunk
of their own money.  That already puts it above
alot of the kickstarter projects out there....

Just sign up for the pre-alpha, check it out.
You aint got nothing to lose.

I can't say i like all the features, but the caravan one
and the semi-loot (opposed to full loot) is certainly interesting.

Big, ambitious game with AAA graphics just pops up out of nowhere...caution advised.

Looks like a fun sandbox . Lots of meaningful PvP.

My guess (IMHO), a MMO which has graphics this good won't apart from this factors:

    1. They will alienate many player candidates because most people don't have high end PC for gaming, or
    2. They will make this MMO heavily instanced to provide this kind of graphics (see FFXIV).

Somehow, my stance here is with DMKano, it will arguably has bad performance when about 50 people crowd in one place.

But hey, not everyone need to interact with many people at the same time. People will have different standards about his dream MMO. To each his own I guess.

Limited number for PvP is better because it stops zerging and allows for more strategy and planning and the people who play well matter not the numbers.

Looks interesting, and certainly further developed than the concept games people get hyped about nowadays. Looking forward to more info.

    Wow......I am actually impressed.
For a pre-Kickstarter game, it looks good already.

the graphics don't look much better than Black Desert Online .. yet they don't have real trouble with framerates when groups get together .. this bears watching IMO .. but its still way way to soon to get excited

Every game that uses UE4 looks good. Their ability to negotiate netcode is the key to success for an MMO. We shall see.
What I meant is I can see from the second video they have a fully functioning UI, and the Combat and Animation looks smooth already.

Eh, I wanna see some names and faces before I look at it seriously.

But... it sounds like EQ:N with its AI, so that's a plus.

Sounds good on paper, kickstarter meh.. atleast it looks decent enough and not like some shitty pre pre alpha 'we'll work on making models and animations to this decades minimum standard before relase'

Agreed! I think this is becoming the standard for crowdfunding, though. Give the people some confidence, or you get no funding. At very least they should be able to deliver a game. Just try not to fall in love with the feature set. Be ok with some of that changing.

As with most of these open world sandbox MMOs I'll wait to see how the PvP is. If it's truly optional but encouraged then I'll be interested. That SEEMS to be what they are going for but I'll wait for the pudding.

Many on the development team are from Daybreak Games. Including Jeff Bard.
Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that many of the devs are ex-SOE ?

I doubt any of them would have worked longer at DBG than at SOE before they got canned by DBG ?
