    My favourites were:

    - Ragnarok Online (first MMO)
    - Dungeons & Dragons Online (something very diferent, refreshing and great character development)
    - Age of Conan (i loved this game so much, the lore, the combat, the music, the everything, sad to see its current state)
    - Planetside 2 (i still play this, but not so much)

    Anticipated games im waiting for:

Well tbh, none, im not exited about any MMO atm, probably done with the genre, but i would like to have the same feeling as before, when i played for the first time those games... probably will never happen.

But! i think there are interesting ides in development:

    - Star citizen (ambitious game, deserves to be something special)
    - Gloria Victis (currently is very boring, but i like the idea, i like the realistic aproach, while maintaining a bit of fantasy, i would hope to see it becoming something like tibia, with tousands of places to explore...
    - Conan Exiles (not an MMO, but i loved the Conan lore, want more.)

    1. UO - enjoyed the combat
    2. WoW - enjoy the lore coming from warcraft strategy games, felt immersed in their virtual world as linear as may have been i was happy to that kind of gameplay when i was a noob at games in general, and UO being my only other mmo before that
    3. swtor - like SW, lore, combat, raids can be fun too

    anticipating

    1. Star citizen - i like the attention and hard work they give the game, with racing, single player, fps, graphics,
    2. Crowfall - game of thrones simulator sounds like the kind of niche I would be interested in

    1. FFXIV - Since ARR launch and ongoing
    2. WoW - based on pre-Cata playing days, but time allowing I'd like to try Legion.
    3. RIFT - based on play time at original launch and some time after.

As you can tell I'm a fan of the traditional, some might say old school, mmo's.
For me, when these are done right they are head and shoulders above anything else.

As for what's on the horizon to match these kind of games - you tell me.

Currently there's only one I'm looking forward to, but it's not a full game:
     - FFXIV 4.0 Stormblood

Tell me more about Bless Online and what makes it so interesting. I had never heard of it before this topic. It sounds a lot like ArcheAge to me?

The acronym MMORPG use to mean Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game.

But the acronym MMMORPG now currently means Microscopic Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. Kappa.

    Current & Past

    1) City of Heroes/Villains
    2) SWTOR (or BDO, but since I've played SWTOR for the last five years now... I'll give that one 2nd place :pleased: )
    3) BDO

    Upcoming

Not all that excited for any of them. Not like I used to be back in the day at least. But if I had to pick a few...

    1) Bless Online
    2) City of Titans (Although I fear that game will be fugly as hell if it ever gets released, which would instantly kill it for me)
    3) Chronicles of Elyria & Star Citizen. (More curiosity than any real "excitement)

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

1 - LotRO - Best combat and group PvE in any MMO I've played. Also loved the pvp
2 - SWG - Great classes and community, mostly I just loved killing rancors and geonosians
3 - WAR - Great lore and some great pvp experiences.

1 - Camelot Unchained - Sandbox PvP with horizontal progression. Also, CUBE. Horizontal progression is something I've been asking for in all MMOs since I first encountered it in LotRO's endgame in 2007. CUBE will also finally let us build interesting things in the real world, which is something I believe is essential for the future of the genre.

2 - New World - First AAA sandbox ever. Not a setting I want, but I'm excited to finally see a AAA sandbox.

3 - Chronicles of Elyria - Struggled to find a 3rd, but CoE is attempting some interesting stuff and Chronicles of Spellborn was apparently a great game too, but closed before I played it.
Currently Playing: WAR RoR - Spitt rr82 Black Orc | Scrotling rr6X Squig Herder | Scabrous rr6X Shaman

    1. Vendetta Online - One of the best video games of all time.  Compact, portable, physics-based, chaotic with horizontal progression, and it runs in virtual reality.  Malleable like clay.  Duels have an immortal quality, and group PvP includes some of my fondest gaming memories ever.

    2. World of Warcraft - The most popular MMORPG of all time.

    3. Eve Online - The greatest number of simultaneous meaningful player interactions in any MMORPG.

Disclaimer: I've only played the first two for any length of time.  Eve Online I just enjoy reading about.  Because that feels somewhat disingenuous I'll also submit an alternate #3:

3 (b). Dragon Nest - Kind of funny, because it doesn't have many of the qualities I vocally look for in a MMORPG, but it's probably my third most-played MMO.  It's just fun.

Anticipated: none - I'm very satisfied with the current landscape of the MMORPG market.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.  Bless Online is an open world MMORPG with amazing looking gameplay.  There are dungeons that look like real fun @blueturtle13 has played the Korean version for 6 months and said it was just getting better and better as he was playing it.  He quit playing it so it would be fresh and exciting to play with his western friends once there is a localized version.

Some people complained about the combat, but it seems they have reworked the combat system 3 or 4 times, and it is supposed to be very good now.

It has open world PvP after a certain level, but Blue says that it is not a gank fest.  I guess there is some reaction to gankers that makes it very unappealing.  Not sure what it is, but Blue said there were gank guilds that would just give up on that game play after seeing the reaction.  Maybe a bounty system?  Karma system?  Not sure.

Blue also says the dungeon and raid system is top tier, very close to if not the best he has ever played.

It uses a trinity system, for better or worse.  I prefer class systems based on the trinity, so I am in, but not every one agrees.

This is probably the best site for info on the game.  http://bless-source.com/

For more, you will have to hear from Blue.

The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!

Interesting. So it sounds like the main separation between it and ArcheAge is more consequences for ganking and possibly the combat system? Those differences could be good or bad depending on implementation. Also the fact it has a small list of classes suggests less ability customization than ArcheAge, which is a bit of a turnoff to me.

I'd like to hear from @blueturtle13 though. It sounds like a game I would enjoy but I haven't heard enough difference between it and ArcheAge to sell me yet.

I tried Vendetta Online once. It seemed like a great game but at the point I tried it, I had spent so many hours on my favorite game ever (Freelancer) that I could no longer enjoy it.

The Freelancer inspiration for Vendetta was extremely obvious and I just couldn't get into it. That's not to say it's a bad game though. Similarity to Freelancer is actually a quite good thing, just not for me at that time of my life.

Star Citizen actually seems to be a meaningful expansion of the Freelancer concept with most of the features a lot of us in the FL community said we wanted from Freelancer 2 (Which was never released.) And that makes it a better game for me personally.

If I hadn't worn out Freelancer entirely though, Vendetta would be a good game to try.

Believe it or not, Vendetta may actually predate Freelancer: I've been a player since June 2003.  Apparently, it's been running continuously with a sizeable population since April 2002 (this is when the devs generally mark 'launch').  The retail launch avec box was in November 2004.

It's gone through many changes since then.  I myself have not played Freelancer but I've seen another author make the comparison, aesthetically at least.  You really should check it out in virtual reality.  I'm having a great time.
