While I agree more computer users need to learn how the computer works and how to use security settings/programs to keep it in good running condition, I also agree that this site is getting a bit excessive in ads, cookies and other junk.

I just delete and overwrite the deleted data so no one knows I had that on my pc.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

Personally I would rather use an A/V and deal with occasional false positives than with an actual virus that gets through because I inadvertently visited the wrong site.

It's kinda like back when I was single I rather put up with using a condom and avoid problems than not using one and then having to deal with extra little buddies hitching a ride because of a one night stand with the wrong lady.
The problem is we are saying a virus is some kind of sneaky software that you won't even know is doing anything.  And if you didn't have AV you would never know it is there.  Well that sounds like half the crap windows 10 does anyways.  So if a virus is that harmless then why worry about it?

I had notice that MMORPG installs a complexity of cookies that is rather confusing. There's a lot of tracking going on and other scripts ran into the browser.

Obviously cookies are necessary for the most fundamental things, you can't simply block them otherwise you wouldn't be able to login. But you can with certain tools block some of the most aggressive stuff.

Overall if you use software like Malwarebytes web protections you shouldn't worry much as they will track all of this and their sources for anything that can be considered malicious.

When I used anti-virus, I got the annoying false positives and the slogging of my system, but I still got viruses.

Just because you run an anti-virus doesn't mean you won't get a virus.  It's entirely possible that some of them are working with/creators of viruses, too.

"So, the only time you had a virus detected on your system was when you were using an anti-virus program."

Har har, but no, I mean the only time I got a virus that affected my computer was when I was using anti-virus programs.  I got some nasty ones, too, that required complete re-installs of windows.

There are no extra processes running on my computer.  It runs clean as a whistle and faster than yours, since I don't have an anti-virus running in the background, and I don't have to deal with an anti-virus trying to tell me it's worth the money I spent on it every 5 minutes when it checks every single thing, except the one that will actually infect my computer.

Anti-virus programs are basically viruses.  They slog down your system and annoy you with pop-ups.

    Not the good ones.

Win 10 is just a root kit that uses inking to keylog everything you type and follow everything you do.  Some expert I follow won't even upgrade to it and stick to Win 7.

    They sure do!

People still think just because they don't see or notice it, what happens on the background is not happening, these days is mostly about data collection, you won't even know it happened.

2001 called and wants its hardware back. That's not true now unless your hardware is total crap. But don't let facts and the truth stand in the way of more interesting conspiracies.

Make the Internet Great Again and don't use anti-malware protection. Chinese and Russian botnets thank you.
My hardware is good but that doesn't mean I want unnecessary programs running on it.

"The facts" and "the truth", eh?  The fact is anti-virus annoys you with pop-ups.  I don't want to deal with them.

If I get a virus, it's not the end of the world.  I've dealt with them in the past.

And this idea that you're automatically part of a botnet if you don't run anti-virus is 50s fear-mongering.  My computer doesn't behave oddly at all, let alone the fact that anti-virus doesn't guarantee it won't happen to you.

I don't use adblocker or antivirus and my computer is fine.  According to your theories it shouldn't even turn on.
In today's world not using some form of antivirus especially when there are many good free ones is the definition of idiocy.  All it takes is allowing someone else to use your computer for a couple mins that does something stupid like clicking on a link or opening the wrong page and all the sudden everything you typed or do is sent to someone else.  And a good virus would not slow your system down at all, it just waits for you to send things online and piggy backs the signal so you don't notice the additional bandwidth use as easily and sends all your information to whoever wrote it.  It's bad enough that companies like microsoft and google are doing this legally now, but there are many that also do it illegally.  I wrote a worm in college that could do exactly what I described for a security class while taking a programing class when I was just learning, all it takes is someone with basic skills to ruin your life.  And hopefully it will never happen to you but, if someone does steal all your info and ruins your credit and takes money, expect years upon years to try and get it fix if you can at all.  And the worst part would be it was your own fault for not having personal accountability and securing your system.

So which anti-virus program prevents this from happening 100%.  Please link it so I can use it.

Whatever it is, the pentagon should use it since they still get hacked.  Stupid pentagon.

Well im doing pretty good for an idiot.  Got 3 computers and no problems.  Noone has messed with my bank accounts or done anything with my passwords or any of my accounts.  Hows this for an idiot?  I write software and call it antivirus.  Then i pretend to be stopping things every once in a while to make you feel like the 40$ you just spent is actually worth it.  So everyone believes I'm helping you and selling a great product when its really a scam and noone knows better.  The best thing is people will zealously defend me and the whole time I'm laughing at the bank because I don't have to use a virus to steal their money, they gave it to me and were happy to do so.

I can understand how people that run anti-virus stuff are flabbergasted at the idea that someone not running it can possibly be virus free.

Anti-virus programs make you feel like you're under constant threat from all angles with incessant false-positives.

I feel bad for them and their crappy oppressive online experience under the hands of their anti-virus overlords promising to protect them.

I would agree about needing antivirus if I ever actually got a virus.  20+ years of surfing the internet and only had like 2 issues and that was my own fault.  So no the antivirus software gets no money from me and no access to my computer.

They have to justify spending money and all the time to "protect" themselves from all the evildoers in the world.  Hey, the internet is not  a completely safe place but if you feel having your antivirus and mega evil doer protection safeware makes you feel safe, sure, go for it.  I'm doing fine without using anything.

You got no problems that you know about, how about that.  I don't pay a dime for antivirus myself, I use free ones.  For some reason you think people have to pay for antivirus software, you don't and I know very few people other than major corps that do pay.  There are good ones out there for free.  Like I said it is your choice, a stupid one, but your choice.  A easy example of how to get viruses is to have young children.   If you ever have a child messing around on a PC most likely you would come across a virus as they will open up anything that gets their attention.  Very few people write viruses that has a goal of messing up a computer.  I know some people that actually write them legally for a living personally, but that is another story.  99% of all viruses are spyware, and a good spyware you would never know you had if done right.  But again it is your choice, but you never have a right to say a word if you do ever get one because it is your own fault that you did nothing to prevent it to begin with.

Eh, OK?  But if you get one, you have to admit that you inconvenienced yourself and decreased the quality of your online experience by using an anti-virus program for years for no reason.
