What's with the AdBlock Notice?

It's easy to disable that pop-up and make it never appear again.

Make a paid sub if you wil and i will help, but I refuse to have annoying ads.

There will always be an arms race between those that make their living from serving ads and those that make their living from blocking them.

As long as the advertisers feel that their message is getting through, they will continue to pay for the privilege of placing ads. If they feel that nobody sees their ads due to effective ad blocking, the ad revenue will go elsewhere.

Its not cost effective, it defaces your website and it creates user churn (like this mega thread).

MMORPG STAFF: THINK "CROWD FUNDING"

How to Make Money Online in the Present Age:

1. Already addressed, a monthly payment (should be named "donation") to maintain the site. This will be a shot the the arm in terms of immediate cash flow.

2. Along those same lines: Premium content. This is a double edged sword, however it can be an incredible tool for content creators. While maintaining the "Front Page" for your average non-paying user base, MMORPG staff can begin to host premium content/features for users who pay a subscription fee.

3. Steemit style advertisements. (Note: This is bleeding edge and beyond most webmasters/developers). This is a system of user driven ad content backed by community but primarily company "reddit'esque" upvotes. It is a blockchain service which Steemit proved is the modern approach to ads. It generates massive wealth naturally from within the community mutually benefiting the users, the platform and the companies users selectively involve.

4. YouTube. For every article written at MMORPG.com, a YouTube video could easily be produced and uploaded. The benefits are massive: 1. Reaching out to a new user base on YouTube. 2. Establishing a fan base who's demographic does not typically read content, but rather watches it. 3. MORE AD REVENUE - YouTube has its own ad placement service which will directly contribute to MMORPG.com's bottom line.

5. Twitch.tv. This is not an easy nut to crack, but MMORPG.com, backed by a new YouTube channel has an excellent opportunity to create a casting desk. MMORPG.com covers enough content that it could host a daily talk show about the latest and greatest in the MMO universe. It could (and should) easily expand into a producing E-Sport content (where the money's at). With a content director, a pretty face and some equipment (~$1500) MMORPG could host a quality stream. Bonus: These streams can be cut up and edited into YouTube highlight reals.

You got an animated signature and complain about animations. That signature doesn't stop it keeps moving animating its driving me crazy. I'm gonna go to a website that doesn't allow animated signatures.

ScriptBlock for Chrome and Adblock pro do a good job of nixxing the nag itself as well. Now you can have no ads AND no nags about no ads!

Really bad analogy. Anyways I just went to that dangerous website that everyone was talking about and man yes it has a bunch of malware and crap all over it. ALT-f4 fixed the problem immediately. Maybe I'm safer because default windows makes you authorize anything that installs first. It also makes me authorize any downloads and any changes to my browser or hard drive. Maybe you guys need to use windows like a normal person because they have protected me for 20 years now.

But yea as far as your analogy is concerned. You are saying the malware is all over the place. I have over 10k hours internet use and yes there's some dangerous stuff out there. But that is why we have what is called trusted sites. I didn't pull a bucket out of the ocean. I have been swimming through the entire thing.

What are you trying to prove? You want to allow it and tell me it's fine, and therefore so should I?
As if millions who use AdBlock are wrong because you can surf the web just fine?

i use AdBlock Plus from its birth and i'll never stop using it. If you block me watching your site or become so pushing with that ''welcome screen'' that you add today, then i'll leave you. Simple as that. You arent the 1st one that i'll do it.

Imagine your site as a store showcase that you show to pedestrians what you selling. Forcing them to watch it before entering to your store will make them never enter again to your store.

You might want to read up more on AdBlock. They have their own whitelist and allow certain advertisers through their program. That's how they get paid too.
