So the last 12 months I can't stick with an MMO and I think I know why. Anyone else the same??

So MMOs are my favourite games to play but the last 12 months I can't seem to stick to one, I think I know why.

When I played WoW (7years) and archeage for two years I was in great guilds where I had lots of friends so I couldn't wait to get home every night and play with them and I was always needed for helping out the guild in either raids or pvp.

I wish i sh I could find a big friendly guild like I was in so I could have lots of online friends and I'd have more reason to stick to that MMO because I'm really not fussy what MMO I play, there are so many good ones out these days!!!

Does anyone else find themselves in the same situation??

Same here buddy. I used to be in a great guild in wow years ago. Now I can't find any genuine friends or guilds to play with. Every guild I try to join falls short. Nobody logging on except for raids, nobody talking, drama, falling apart in some way or another... It's always something.

Been trying to find a place or good friends for a while now (mmo or other games). But I'm doomed to be forever alone. :)

I have been sitting with the idea to create my own guild but its so much work and has little chance of success when started by one person :/

I was in a top guild on my server that fell apart at the end of wow tbc.  We had enough to support at least three raids on raid nights and alt raids on weekends.  I ended up in the number 3 guild but they only had one raid group and I ended up being an alt.  It wasn't fun.  But many guilds seemed to go away during woltk.

That being said, I miss having a great guild to play with.   Times have changed.

I think most of us have found that what makes the games go is the people we play with more than the game we are playing

I here ya man. Its rough out there in the barren wasteland of MMO's.  Not sure if you tried BDO, but there a lot of guilds, and I'm sure you could work hard and give it a go.

Pm me if need a trial key.

    Cheers

Which is part of why I loved CoH.  Easy grouping and soloing.  People were great at release.

So that begs the question, what happened to the guilds you were in? Why are you not playing with those same guilds?

Look to join a large gaming guild/alliance that play multiple games.

Grievance is especially good here in the States, especially if you love raiding and good people.

I always look to hang with them outside of EVE (one game they really don't like to play)

MMOs are only as good as the players you play with... A great guild can make a poor game fun and a bad guild could ruin any game.
  • SovrathSovrath Member LegendaryPosts: 32,015
I agree, the grievance people are good people and it's a very large multi-game guild.

Having said that, they require people to be on Team Speak and I've discovered that being on Team Speak for me, every time I'm in game, actually makes me not want to play. I noticed I stopped logging into Black Desert mostly because I couldn't take logging into Team Speak. Now that I'm not "in" the Black Desert guild I am logging in every day.

So I suppose the lesson is to find guilds that "make sense" to how you want to play/interact. To that point, they are good, funny, and helpful people and if you love being on Team Speak then OP, you should apply for membership.

I've been in my current (and only) guild for over a decade; they are one of the reasons I continue to play.  I'm not the highest ranking, but I may be the most veteran.

I'm not sure you'd consider us large, though.  We currently have 29 members.

I have found that for the most part guilds are not what they used to be (in terms of the social aspect).

Things started to change when they put in all sorts of perks for being in a guild, or for doing things while in a guild (e.g., GW2 and WoW). That resulted in mega guilds with many, many hundreds of members, most of who don't know each other and who hardly speak to one another. They just join for the perks and go about their business.

Of course there must be exceptions. I'm sure there are some great people out there. But large impersonal guilds are definitely a thing.

I have recently been looking for a new mmorpg to play but none can seem to hold my attention. I have a great gaming group I am with (see sig) but we tend to focus on survival games. We all mainly came together playing 7days2die but we have grown and play many other games as well. For some reason no mmorpg can hold us long enough together to get to the meat.

I agree with the OP.  Back in those early days of mmo's you could find great guilds all over the place. Now they are filled with selfish people just there for the raid gear. And fighting over raid spots in guild chat. The last 4 guilds i've joined in mmo's have been like this and i just quit them.

On my current server in AA, found one guild that was not toxic or enforcing players to run to endgame, after 2 months of joining, transfer came and all the veterans including the leader left for another server....right now i only play 3 hours a day just to get my loyalty token...i totally feel what you feel..

Have not been able to find a quality guild in years, and I literally do mean years.  I've bounced around from here to there, tried to fit in with a few guilds, but eventually I always move on.  Generally it's a lack of any real leadership up top, or overall activity on the members parts, or both.  Quite a few guilds I've tried out, no one talks... at all... in 3-4 hours play time, I might see 3-4 sentences in text, and no one on vent at all.  This just seems to be the revolving door of guilds for me.

I've been looking for a very social guild for years, full (25+ active members) of chatty people, but I just don't think they exist anymore.

It's because you got old and you don't really like MMOs like you did when you were younger yet you are yearning for that feeling you had when playing MMOs back in the day. It's like you used to like Ketchup on everything when you were a kid but now you're older and your tastes have matured and Ketchup tastes nasty so you went to Mustard but it's never gives you the same feeling as Ketchup did when you were a kid.
