The answer to your question is rooted in the third paragraph of my above post.

It's a "role-playing" game.  Simulating "real life" is inherently integral to "role-playing."
WTF real life aspect has to do with RNG stats on an equal lvl toon ??????
Are you saying that if we both buy the same car but my car is outperforming yours you'll say "well it's real lifes RNG"?????? lulz man !!!!

MMORPG is defined as a "massively multi-player online role playing game."

That means that by their very nature MMORPGs are games that aspire to implement game play features that simulate a "real life" world experience.

This is about HP/MP/ACC and Luck in you, as a living character, in BDO.

Are you able to control the genes that you are randomly given at birth that are simulated in the above and are crucial in fleshing out your life skills, abilities and experience in real life? The keyed answer to that is no.

Are you able to control the RNG stats that you are randomly given in BDO that are simulated in the above and crucial in fleshing out your in game skills, abilities and experience in the game?  The keyed answer to that is no.

I can't make it much more clearer and simpler than that.

Honestly I have shelved this game for now.  Swg just pushed out publish 8 and it's as close to live as it gets now and things "work" so far I'm having fun reliving my adventures as a noob. There really isn't another game like it out there until SWG2 which is still a few years away. We should hear more about it this e3 or next.

Rng is a perfectly legitimate mechanic with a long and venerable history. The recent trend to vilify it is subjective taste masquerading as "better design."

Like the genre, if you don't like this particular aspect, move on.
No if you like this particular aspect don't stand in the way of the genre's evolution.

Yeah, not often I agree with the PVP'ers, but that is simply dumb as feck.

In fact, a lot of things to do with RNG in this game are dumb as feck and detrimental to the game.
^Not a fan of this myself.
I already despised it back in the day when it was popular on single player RPGs... to have it in a competitive game is just... ugh...
Perhaps you don't realize MMORPGs are meant to be virtual worlds and not "competetive" team sport games?

In real life there will aways be someone more powerful than you. You learn to beat them anyways. Same thing here.
Do you play beggars or cannon fodder in MMOs? How would you like if other players farmed you for xp like a mob and that was your role within the game? If realism was the ultiamte goal of gaming, people wouldn't play games but go out.

But what a joy from the encouraging altitis standpoint.

OCD minmaxers, spreadsheeting for every erg of theoretical oomph, are forced to go back and replay the same class again hoping for better RNG next time.

    It's an OWPVP dream!
I don't know of any gamer that enjoys that much hidden RNG. Basically your characters in BDO are all simply mysteries. A globule of chaos covered in a virtual coating of order.
I'm not trying to be a smart ass but that is beautiful to me.

A globule of chaos covered in a virtual coating of order.

That statement describes to me the error we make in trying to order the world sometimes. It also screams verisimilitude to me. I imagine it is another way to make things less predictable in BDO or any game.

Real life comes with it's own RNG. Did the engine get inspected properly before shipping? Was the gas contaminated from a bad ground tank? Do you have a neurological deficiency that produces intermittent delay of motor neuron function?

I think the issue here is more like lack of frustration tolerance.

The IRL argument has got to be one of the most [can someone help me put a word here that won't get me infracted] as it pertains to gaming. A game is a game. If the game contains PVP elements then NO, RNG has no place in the main stats as it's currently being implemented.  Especially when they've been ninja placed there and they don't even have the decency to let the player roll their own frigging dice on the stats.

That's like walking into a casino putting money into a slot machine and seeing "YOU LOSE" before you even get to hit any switches or pull levers. What part of the game is that?

RNG believe it or not if you understand the entire scope of combat BOTH pve and pvp DOES have a place.Manual aim is obviously best in a FPS pvp game but in a mmo it is not always the best option.
    Just one very simple example....
1 We all love gear in gaming "right?"Well how would gear come into play if everything was just manual aiming, your gear and stats would no longer mean anything, your gear would be nothing more than visual.

Now as sort of mentioned,we as players would like to be able to create our own player, have SOME say in the stats, this is where MANY developers miss the whole idea of playing our OWN game and not all looking and playing like twin puppets.

What seems to be the issue here is that you don't understand where RNG should be implemented in an MMO and where NOT.
I haven't f....ed any Korean Dev as far as i know, and gave birth to an RNG toon to play the game.....i PAID for it like any other one so i DONT WANT any RNG stats on the same product that i bought.

If the Engine didn't get an inspection or the tank wasn't properly grounded DOES NOT make it an  RNG status which i have to accept and move on. You file a suit and u get the Product that you PAID for.

So a game can't be different now? All must follow the same formula?

It's fine disliking it, it's another demanding a change because you believe it's incompetent for them to make stats not fixed.

As a Dev you can make a game as different as you like and nobody's gonna say a damn thing.
When you're trying to sell the game in a PvP audience, BASE stats like HP/Mana/Acc etc. etc which plays
a major role on your toons performance against the other players SHOULD BE EQUAL for Everyone.
The company never informed that these stats are going to be RNG and NOT by a tiny margin but a HUGE GAP. Imagine that we both invest the same amount of time on the same class in an a game but in the end i will have a toon with +300HP +200Mana +10Acc etc etc. and i will gang you 9 out of ten times.
Can you pls share that feeling then ?

And tell me how you will know the difference is that big?

Or are you just assuming you are the unluckiest person alive on earth and will get all the lowest rng scores on every stat?

    Great news!
Granted, for me it was more of a minor annoyance compared to the offense others are taking at it, but nonetheless, good news for those who are in it for the PvP.
