Preferably one with PVP and Zombies that isn't full of hackers? Is this even possible?

Currently playing:

FFXIV on Behemoth, FFXI on Eden, and Gloria Victis on NA.

    It's tough.

in a survival situation like apocalypse-flavored end of world scenarios, "pvp" would be a real feature.

But it's only "survival" if a major "PvE" risk is permanently present.

Of course designing a real pve threat that doesnt favor super-large clusters of players leading to zergs is the obstacle.

My opinion is that these games fail at achieving the PvE aaspect of survival. Has anyone ever died to zombies in H1Z1 ?

It's not free but 7 Days to Die did a good job in creating a PvE environment that presents high risks, need to create a server with proper settings and the like.

If you don't mind the extremely simplistic graphics, Unturned might be of interest.

It kind of looks like Minecraft in the sense that everything is square and blocky, but it plays sort of like a DayZ type game where you run around scavenging for food and weapons while fighting off zombies and potentially other players. For its simple graphics and gameplay it's surprisingly atmospheric and quite entertaining.

7 days to die is hands down the best survival multiplayer game out there for zombies. You can play solo pve server or pvp servers your choice and it has everything you are looking for in a zombie game with build craft and survival elements like weather food thirst disease and cold/hot to manage.
