Average 1.5 Players in the last 30 days... whoa!

Is this for real?

http://steamcharts.com/app/227400#All

It seems the game has a peak of 7 players at most and on average 1.5 players in the last 30 days.

I never would have thought it could get this bad. :(

And to add insult to injury, it seems the forums are overrun by spamming bots and no one gives a damn or clears it!

Ok, I didn't know it was anywhere near that bad. What happened here?

Aventurine sold the game code and development licenses to 2 separate indie groups, so DF:UW is probably in "maintenance mode" now. Hence the tumbleweeds...

They can now sit back and collect royalties from the 2 new versions of the game. Money for nothing...

    I see.

It's really strange to me that anyone would want to buy a license for such a tiny niche game. The fact that there are two of them coming out, will only serve to diminish the already minimal audience.

I hope no one gets their hopes up for this to turn out well.

Thing is, in some aspects DFUW is better and clearly more modern (which is not necessarely always good) but people have abandoned the game because the fans of the original DF have outgrown the game because of their age now, and this also happened with WoW.

I dont think either DF will get a lot of momentum because there is only a tiny core of hardcore PvP players left.
If you read the DF forums, even the fans are saying that. Yes they want the nostalgy back, but it will never get good numbers for good PvP matches. :(

As for DFUW, the servers seem to be offline for quite some time and the devs seem to have abandoned it, no more moderation in forums, spam bots are rampart, no patches, etc...

    Its dead, Jim.

Because Steam, I think the most played MMO on steam is Tera and that only has a few thousand players .

Also keep in mind that steam numbers don't mean player numbers, just steam player numbers which are always horribly small.

Steam is not and never has been an mmorpg platform, numbers you see on steam are usually 1 to .01% of a games playerbase.

Ok, lets take the lowest possible percentage YOU THINK it is, 0.1%.

1.5 players if it was 1% would be 150 players
1.5 players if it was 0.1% would be 1500 players

See how bad it still is?

But since those percentages you gave out of nowhere, its obviously a much higher percentage, which means that in either way the game is dead as a dodo.

If you dont believe me, go to the forums and check the pages upon pages since FEBRUARY of bot spam selling drugs, fake IDs, fake bags, etc... lol

So yeah, its abandonware now. Sadly

on average 1.5 players? lol well I know that must not be true because at any time of the day, whenever I checked or played, there was about 5 people in my clan online and probably much more in the entire alliance. Not a lot of people, but enough as I was still enjoying the game. Last time I attended a siege it was like 30v30?

I was always able to join a group of people and always able to find PVP when I looked for it so the game was still playable... I hope the servers come back online, several people waiting in our teamspeak still since it went down.

    RIP for now...

Well that was just the steam chart for it. A lot of people owned it prior to the steam launch and didn't get a steam code. I know I didn't get one, and I knew a few people that didn't play it on steam as well. So I guess it just depends on what you look into . I know the servers went down due to issues in their home country, so I'm hoping they are eventually able to bring them back up.

From what I can tell, nobody played it on steam, but maybe I am wrong?
