LF MMO / Game With great healing/support roles. That is relevant today.

I used to love being a healer in WoW. But since there is nothing relevant to do atm, I need a new game.
I prefer an MMO but other co-op, multiplayer games are welcome too.

I'm not interested in games where you have no option to fully be a healer or support. (Like gw2 for example)

SWTOR have 3 healer classes but you must like star wars :)
and its 1 off the most important classes when you run 8 man ore 16 man dungeons

and sometimes it can be stressfull but if you like a challenge i say this game is good

I would recommend Lotro, ESO, FF14 and SWTOR. All "relevant today" :D

Picking within those four would have to know what your other priorities are.

EVE. They are called logistics pilots, ranging from pure repairing (armor or shield), to energy nullifying, jamming, tracking disruption, target painting, buffing and a few more.

Most people want to only do DPS (as repairing doesn't register on kill boards) logi pilots are always in high demand, in PVE activities such as incursion running as well as PVP.

Elder scrolls online has one the best support roles u can find in today's mmo market , it's fast-paced and very active. Check it out.

EQ2 had a brilliant range of healing classes - each playing out very differently. Some specialise in shielding, some in healing overtime, others in buffs, debuffs, direct heals. I've never seen such variety in other games.

That said, you should take a moment to think what is a "relevant" MMO to you. I think most MMOs out there are less relevant than WoW, by any metric.

I also played healers back in WoW. If you're looking for something similar, I would definitely recommend FFXIV. It's basically WoW 3.0, in more ways than one.

In BGTSCC you can make different types of healers:

    - pure cleric, druid or shaman who heals and removes different negative effects
    - cleric/bodyguard who heals and gives 50% damage resist to an ally but takes that damage himself
    - bard/cleric who buffs/debuffs with songs and heals
    - cleric/abjurer wizard who buffs with arcane spells and heals
    - battle cleric who heals and fights
    - dragon or animal who heals (druid who can cast spells in shapeshifted forms)
    - stealth healer (you suddenly come out of stealth or invisibility to heal people)
    - non-magical healer (specialising in healing kits)
    - alchemist/brewer healer (cook potions for others)
    - anti-undead healer (healing spells do damage to the undead)

EVE, like the guy said above.  Logistic pilots literally make or break fleets.  Characters can FULLY commit to being logistic players and never so much as have to be offensive.  There are even plenty of ways to make money in game without having to fight.  And the came couldnt be more relevant.  Every player group in game right now pretty much is fighting for control of the games territories.  There is always something to do.  Get in with some of the bigger groups like Karma Fleet ( The Imperium) or Brave Newbies or any other newbie sentric group and many of them give you everything you need to get started.

Rift still has support roles.  Rift also has a lot of healing classes.  I'm not sure what relevant means, as that Is extremely subjective.  Final fantasy isn't relevant since it requires you to grind out every class on one character and has absolutely the worst rpg-lite character development system of any mmorpg.  The hardest part of ESO is shopping for things, so that makes the game not relevant.  WoW isn't relevant since they have done nothing but strip the game of all complexity so younger and younger kids can play since post WotLK.

Also, Star Trek Online, Neverwinter, DDO, and tons of other games have required healers.  In DDO everyone is expected to heal themselves up to end game raid content when a healer is more necessary than nice unless everyone has spent years maxing out everything possible.  Neverwinter is extremely pay to win for pvp focus at least, but I think the healing is way better in neverwinter than ESO.

Could you elaborate a bit?  This sounds interesting.
U can pretty much be anything as a support/healer class in eso .. want to be a tank that can heal? sure! want to be a healer that can dps ? sure! there is a large variety of builds u can choose from.. there is no real *best* build in eso because there's just way to much that u can experiment whit in ways of item sets , skill sets , 2 weapons that u can swap whit each of their own individual skills .. and way more.
The problem i see , if u choose to start playing eso as a support is that u will not have such a great time at early levels whit finding groups and such but new expansion is coming and they will remove veteran ranks so that will not be a problem anymore.
None the less , if u have not tried eso yet and have a fairly decent rig , i really suggest u give it a go.

But in the end you are still playing EVE and it sucks.
