ESO has more skill customization than GW2, but I do see a lot of DAoC'ers and Warhammer types in both games, probably out of desperation. I'm an old timer too and prefer sub games, a rapidly disappearing breed.  Have you considered any of the mutiple rpgs on the market with multiplayer?  I think that is fast becoming an alternate route for many folks.  Can still have company(of your choosing), no asshat trolls unless you invite them:)  Good luck out there!!
I've been getting by with these.  Both the rpg type and survival types, things like reign of kings, life is feudal but they are always easily hacked and don't have the feeling of being massive.

I'm really missing that Massive feeling of being one of thousands on a server, especially if its a game where even as one of a thousand, you can carve out a section of the population who know you and look forward to playing nightly when you log on.

DAOC. I still play it to the day, and is better then any of the crap that came out in the last few years. BDO if you like terrible combat.

    Thanks for the reply's guys.

I just found eso for 18 bucks so I'm going to try that out. It seems like it had more character building then some of the other games and I've played all the 3 4 and 5 so I'm familiar with the single player versions.

I can only hope for the future of Camelot and Pantheon.

I wish I was a billionaire and could hire people to make exactly what I want.

In that case, I'm going to say you should go play Uncharted Waters Online.  It's not that it fits your requests unusually well, though the ability of different characters to pick wildly different skills is far beyond what you're used to.  But it's an AAA MMORPG that you've probably missed.  And it's really good.

Right now I am playing Guild Wars, EQ2, ESO sometimes, AoC sometimes, LOTRO sometimes, repopulation, and good ol Darkfall Unholy Wars. I am also keeping my eye on Darkfall Rise of Agon because I missed the first game so much since it was shut down, the rerelease should be great nostalgia.

Honestly though for everything that you mentioned, I would go with Darkfall Unholy Wars... and join an active alliance.. I play in the clan called Dark Side and there are ALWAYS players online chatting and on vent/teamspeak at all hours of the day and/or night. Its truly a game to play with other people and of all the games that I am playing right now, it is the most group oriented and active and worth putting time into. Its also pretty easy to get a house right now compared to usual. You don't have to be good at PVP to enjoy the game... honestly there seems to always be at least one girl online playing in our alliance so I could say the game could be for any type.

    As an update.

I got eso for 18 bucks online and gave it a shot. It crashes on me minimum 2 times an hour, usually 6 times per hour. That's no exaggeration. Apparently it's a common bug and they've never addressed it. It plays a lot like a single player, but at least I ran in to some people and grouped up a couple of times.

Too bad, I was subed and having fun, but eventually, after a little over a week, I gave up due to the bug.

I'm back to looking over the suggestions, but I've already played almost everyone.

I was hoping to play one of the darkfalls, not the exact remake but the one coming out next year sounds much more fun.

    Thanks guys.

If you want a tight community and want to give Darkfall a go let me know.. message me or something. The clan that I am is really good for finding groups and constant sieges and stuff to take part in. Last time that I played we killed a dragon. Time before that we camped some dungeon bosses. Time before that there was a siege. Time before that we capped the sea towers and had some boat fights.

Most of us are over 30 and we are always in teamspeak or vent or something.

To be honest, you may like the Darkfall Unholy Wars more than the Rise of Agon.. because its not nearly as hard.... you don't need that many keys on your keyboard to play and are on the same playing ground as most other players but with the Rise of Agon you have to make macros and every single key on your keyboard does something important. its crazy hard to have that many options with FPS gameplay.... but I must admit that overall I enjoyed the game more because no other computer game lets me use the merc stealth steelseries keyboard and have every single button do something cool. I liked the bunny hopping, the daily dungeons were fun, most importantly there were no safe zones anywhere so everything felt dangerous and sneaky.

If you haven't already played Dofus, it has potential for stat and skill customization as well as guild and faction PvP, though battles are limited to 8 v. 8 last I knew.  And they're pretty glacially slow if they are more than 5v5.
I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story.  So PM me if you are starting one.

If your parting with money for any other reason than because you are enjoying the game than i'm sorry to say this but you are doing it wrong.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
