Game Company looks to hire "Photogenic woman" as unpaid community manager

LOL.  They want a pretty woman who's "comfortable on video" for this unpaid position.  Is this for a game company or for a porno?

Looking for a job? The Lucimia team happens to be seeking an unpaid community manager and social media manager. The hiring post says the company will consider all applicants but prefers a “photogenic” woman who’s comfortable on video. Lucimia says it hopes to expand the role of women on its team and in its community but warns applicants that the “easily offended” needn’t apply as the work environment and internal humor are NSFW.

Do these jokers even realize how bad such a posting is?   It's not just the "photogenic woman" requirement but the whole frat-house not easily offended part.  I love the whole way they try and gloss over it by saying they are doing this to diversify their workforce.  LOL.  Talk about tone deaf!

I'd like to hire someone for an unpaid position, too.  Sounds like a good deal for me--but not the hypothetical person I hire who has nothing to gain from the arrangement.

Are they trying to get sued?

Reading this now but this seems like you have stated things  worse than they are.

"You’ll need to be charismatic and comfortable getting on video and doing regular podcasts and vodcasts. It also goes without saying that you should have a stable, reliable Internet connection as the bulk of what you’ll be doing relates to regular video and content updates."

"We’d prefer a female for the role, as we’re actively looking to add more diversity to the team AND to our community, but we’re equal-opportunity employers. We’re actively looking to expand our female demographics both internally with the team, and also with our community, and we feel that a female face would best accomplish what we’re looking to achieve. However, talent and passion for our project take precedence, so we’re not limited to only considering female candidates."

There are also five paragraphs between these two. At the bottom it says they changed the word photogenic to charismatic to better show what they are looking for. But, even if that is the case that they were looking for somebody photogenic, there are three paragraphs before this one that says nothing about women at all. And again, it mentions women for the first time five paragraphs after this.

They have no experience in MMORPG design.  If it wasn't painfully obvious before hand, it should be now... this is not going to end well.

UPDATE-  They have now updated their posting after the blow back on Massively: March 5th, 3:40 p.m. EST – changed wording of photogenic to charismatic to better reflect what we’re looking for.

Of course they totally ignored the whole frat house part

Personally, I prefer to watch warty hunchbacks talk about video games.  Maybe I'm just weird.

Why in the world they'd want someone photogenic to be on camera is beyond me.  I mean look at Scarlett Johansson.  Good grief that's one hideous female and she's getting all the roles in Hollywood.

Personally I think they should just grab a pimply faced goth out of Hot Topic for her roles.  We all go to the movies to see the average "everywoman" play these roles, so why they force these gross women like Megan Fox and Zeo Saldana on us is beyond me.

If you thought you might get this job, don't bother, the candidate has already been selected, she was hired right on the spot.

I hate SJW mentality, there is nothing wrong with that post at all.  You're just looking to be offended.

If you own a store you don't want some fat ugly chick on the front desk, her appearance makes your company look bad.  If you have a community manager then she will be on videos and other material.  As such how she looks matters, people judge others based on appearance whether you like it or not.

They aren't demanding or forcing someone to take the job, they are asking for a volunteer and asking for specifications they want.  They are allowed to do that and there is nothing wrong with it.

Go be outraged about tracers ass or something.

Are they also insisting they must be able to talk coherently?

Anyway, for a role that involves working on camera I don't see why either photogenic or Charismatic are bad things to require. Also, how fucked up is it when you get told off for not being diverse and then told off when you try.

Non issue for me but I am sure the modern habit of professionally being offended will keep going strong.

You know this brings up another point I failed to make earlier.  Why would anyone want to look at a woman's butt anyways?  Good grief, they're nothing but jiggly fat bags.  Gross.  I don't understand the appeal personally.

I also hate milk... and pandas.

Someone gave me some live flowers the other day.  You wouldn't believe how goddamn offended I was.  Didn't they know that dead flowers deserve some love too?  They should have, at the very least, mixed some dead flowers or just weeds in with the rest.

I put them directly in formaldehyde.  Fuck those beautiful flowers.
