Not true. I have not spent a dime. I play it because it is fun for me and I have a small yet active guild. If the game is not for you than move on. To constantly berate a small game with an even smaller player base is just kind of mean don't you think? The game was free for you to try, no harm and no foul. Move on so maybe others may enjoy it or not. The OP likes the game and so do I. It was not for you! There are plenty of other games out there for everyone.
I think it's kind of mean webzen making out they are working on making this game great when they are probably not sorry but i am just putting this information out there i doubt there is even any content being developed after 60 and what do you mean well i know what you was supposed to say if it was not for me apparently what you trying to say i am spoiling your fun strange when did i start running the game i am pointing what is wrong with it.
Sorry not eveything can be positive and i can tell you now nothing positive will come of this if i said gpotato what would come next would be de ja vu i wonder if webzen kept on some of their staff when they bought them out.
i would like to know do people think i am being harsh putting this information and my thoughts out there ?
Tried the game today...not sure what everyone is seeing that is so "good/great". It's a little like WoW but completely missing the immersion, music, incredible character feedback and other great things WoW did with their game.
I'll give it another shot, but so far, the quests are boring, the mobs are boring, combat is boring, the game just doesn't engage me at all.
Sorry i just couldn't keep my head buried in the sand you know i have experience on both servers sorry stop trying to act like things are going to change this is the type of replies i got on the webzen forum before open beta and then after people ignoring things aslong as they are having fun they can't actually see the problems pileing up i saw enough even the mods have seemed to have disappeared.
And you can get your gear up to +12 supposedly. So if he's failing this bad at +6, despite spending lots of money in the cash shop to do so, how is anybody else going to accomplish this? Especially in a game where your equipment can be destroyed. Terrible system.
Because what he was trying to do can and has been done without spending money. He wanted it fast so he paid money and did not want to put the work into it in game. **smh**
Hi Blueturtle, and thank you for supporting this post. Firstly, I fully agree that a ftp game has to produce income. That's their purpose for the development company, with a variety of monetary methods across a rage of game types.
Some subscription games have added cash shops, and to me this is fine - as long as it's just cosmetic items. If someone wants to spend their money on this week's new weapon skin, then fine with me.
Ftp games have to push cash sale items harder, as of course it's their only income. So it comes down to how they go about it.
Weapon/Gear enhancing (also referred to as refining) is not new in games. So it just comes down to how well this mechanism is implemented - for example: -what are the pass/fail precentages -what is the penalty for failure -is it worth risking a failure penalty if your item is pretty high already ........and so on.
A well known game - Aion - had a fairly harsh refinement penalty, in that you would lose all your socketed manastones with one failure. The outcome of this was four fold: -Players stopped fully socketing their items -Players got totally frustrated with the failure penalty -Players published the low percentage figures on the game forum (and other forums) to show the levels of failure -Players left.
A change later on reduced the failure penalty to just losing the manastone you where trying to socket. But by that time the damage had been done. Players had left - moved on.
Now I fully appreciate that higher level game rewards should not be instant. I'm an mmo vet and remember the slower leveling that modern players wouldn't associate with. But neither should these higher level rewards be a source of frustration and possible disillusionment with the game.
Consequently I think the developers behind ASTA have to be very careful in making sure this upgrading mechanism strikes the right balance.
At the moment of course it is too early to get a full picture - but time isn't a friend here. Modern mmo's seem to have a continually reducing timeframe to 'get it right' as it were.
It may be a wise move for the developers to have a quick re-look at this refining mechanism, just to make sure they are comfortable with the pass/fail percentages and failure penalties. Particularly in light of previous game examples which have not gone down that well with mmo populations.
It's a solid WoW style Asian game. If I hadn't gotten into BDO, I would be putting more time into this. To me it's a good time filler when I am not in the mood to play something else. (like right now due to BDO being down for maintenance). If this game was promoted more, and it came out about 10 years ago, it might have had huge success. As it stands, there are just not enough people. Seeing how the genre is over-saturated with hundreds of games, I don't see much hope for it. I will play now and again until it dies like it did in Korea. /shrug
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

I wouldn't say you are being harsh, you sound frustrated if anything. I do wonder why you post so many times basically repeating yourself however.
I and the group I run with in game have not spent a dime yet either,
which is not usual for me as I tend to be more of a whale. It speaks to
the fact that you do not need to spend a dime which is counter to what
you (I believe) are saying.
You have made some valid statements which are informative for people looking for information on the state of the game, but when you add in so much negative speculation it does begin to appear that you may be just bashing the game and you lose credibility.
I keep seeing people on the forum for ASTA saying that the population is fine but thats not my experience at all. Maybe someone on here can come up with a more honest answer?
I am wondering what people think of when they think the population is "fine". I have been playing nothing but Ora.
I logged in again today and leveled my warrior to level 18. I tried to queue up for the second dungeon, as tank/dps on 5 man(hard) but no one queued up after an hour so I gave up and did it on normal with 3 other people (yay grouping in an MMO). I've been in the BG the entire time I have been questing. It has popped three times so far in 4 hours.
Really, what does people mean when they say its FINE? That they are able to get 5 people together and gear up? That its easy to find a group? That they dont run everything on easy? I dont get it and honestly I wish I could see more hope at the end of the tunnel.
Maybe I am just used to playing very active, community based MMOs and not a single player theme park with built in chat
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe.

well yea i have already stated that i am annoyed and i have been round enough FTP games to see the signs this game will not get the attention it needs to make the population grow they will just milk the people they already have it's been done loads of times you can prove me wrong but i doubt you will unless you can influence over at Webzen they have already said they are doing no wipes and some people have spent money in a cash shop but people still going round saying it's in open beta excuse i don't know why people support this kind of behaviour from publishers you do know some people complained when i suggested a wipe. lol
Another company sorry read the link again it's for webzen and the first review is about the Dublin office the one in charge of the EU/US servers so how is that another company ?
You missed the point completely. Why are you posting on here still? You do not like the game or the company or the direction we get it. Move on. Let go! It will be ok. There are other games for you to play! I promise!
Sorry not everything can be positive just posting the positive doesn'rt solve anything so i don't know what you are trying to achieve trying to promote a game which Webzen seem to be failing at why don't they step up and do extra oh no wait because we have this.
i just wish i had found this earlier it would of saved me 8 days and i am just trying to save people from wasting their money.
so we have a low population , angry gamers, people pking, people not being able to complete quests in pvp zones, a nerf that could of be avoided, missing mods, gold sellers which means there is gold buyers and that means alot gold when it comes to stats lot of gold means lots of stats, outnumbered factions and a gear enhancing which will suck up your protection stones just trying to get to + 7 it seems and it goes all the way to + 12 and there is aquite a few pieces of gear to plus.
Oh and you can imagine what the morale is getting like i can't imagine what the chat is like on Asu US side is like now i saw what it was like before. lol

Wow are you ok? you seem deeply troubled. This worked up about a game that cost you nothing but time. Sad. I hope you find your game. Cheers!
No just tired of people keep posting positive all the time without any negatives so i have come to keep it real i was supporting the game at first but not now, sorry you can't see it but i can see it from a mile a way and i am short sighted.
