didn't read thru all the comments(in case i repeat stuff previously mentioned) but alot of the npc characters are gone at night as in closing up shop for the night. also the weather affects crafting as well. i've also read on some weapons that it keeps you from losing ap at night..or maybe accuracy cant remember so going by that weather also affects combat. its nice to see the day/night cycle and weather actually have an effect.

The first time I went to an NPC I needed for a quest and it was gone for the night, I thought "Awesome! I'll come back later" and then I ran off to do other things.  So much to do, so much detail, it really has surprised me.

Is the pvp open world and limitless? I mean a la Age of Wushu for example. I was hoping for something with similar dinamics.

I love the dark nights in BDO. It is turning out to be an epic MMO. I am having lots of fun playing. Recommended.

I need to try this game! This is one aspect i have been clamoring for ages! I am also glad that it will be implemented in Pantheon as well. IF anyone has a key.... would be appreciated to send it my way!

Everquest did this in the 90's its nothing new.

If your race didn't have night vision in some form you were blind at night and required a lantern or torch in your inventory at all times. Most people obtained greater light stones from wisps that never wore out like torches.

My troll shadowknight had infravision which gave living objects a reddish hue, dark elves had ultravision which allowed them to see at night. My friend played a human and quit because he couldn't see anything and got lost at night.
Black Desert Online looks like a guildwars 2 clone.

I wasn't even gonna get BDO but I am so glad I did, this game is a true sandbox and the most fun MMORPG I have played in years.

I wish more games had a true night. Dragon's Dogma also has a very black night when "bad things" come out and it's great.
Playing Dragon's Dogma in a dark place where I'm under powered is sort of a scary thrilling experience. Things just pop out and I'm suddenly in combat and I can't see all the foes. I don't know if I should run, or can run, or if I'll run right out of the frying pan and into the fire. I love that. It's much scarier than most "horror" games I've played.

I dont use any lantern at night - the nights are bright enough to see everything just fine. You can easily tweak contrast setting so you are not a beacon of "please kill me" in PvP if you have a lantern on after 45. Nobody uses lanterns end game heh.

EQ1 vanilla had brutally dark nights if you were one of the non dark vision races like humans. I remember turning the gamma way up at night.
Another way the pvp crowd has to ruin games. I understand not wanting to have a huge disadvantage like that. It's just too bad it works this way. They should actually reduce view distance at night so the contrast changes don't work.

I'm still surprised this community is okay with gender / aged locked classes. Few years ago that routine would get the game laughed off this site.
Yeah gender/age lock sucks, no one is denying that. It's just that the pros outweigh the cons.

Dark nights is a must-have for immersion.
I remember how disappointed i was when they patched the darkness out of the nights in WoW. What a major letdown!!

Well, I think some people would still "laugh it off the site" but there are fans of Asian games who have come to terms with how they do things and it just "is what it is".

Also the pros of the game, the level of detail within the world (the dark night being one) probably outweighs some of the cons.

The monsters become more aggressive and hit harder at night time too, which is another cool feature. Its not as intense as the nights in Dragon's Dogma, but pretty amazing for an mmo, really immersive.

When I first started I was leveling up in the middle of the night in some cornfield swarming with these scarecrow mobs. One of these first times in the past 10 yrs of MMOs where I got chills as I was grinding lol.

Most memorable games: AoC(Tryanny PvP), RIFT, GW, GW2, Ragnarok Online, Aion, FFXI, FFXIV, Secret World, League of Legends (Silver II rank)

This game definitely has the best immersion I've had in a very long time. Day, night, sunny, cloudy, foggy, rain, thunder, lightning. Everything is very well built.

I'm sure the griefers and exploiters will find an add on or find a setting to adjust to let them see just fine at night. Go watch some gameplay of MWO. In the maps that are dark and or vision impairing plenty of ppl have tweaks to let them see just as if it were a day game mode without having to rely on night vision or thermal vision.

    Sadly your missing the point.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

Another cool feature of night is monsters have more AP, hit harder (?) and give more XP.

Are they strong enough to actually be a concern then? I can't see it being that scary if you can normally herd groups of monsters to kill them. It's a shame really.

Most dangerous mob.. tiny bees, screw those things. It really looks like real life, my character is karate chopping all over the freaking place while I'm screaming and running.

    made me chuckle, so funny.....

A creative person is motivated by the desire to achieve, not the desire to beat others.

They get a larger aggro radius to go along with it. And some get tagged "Violent" (I think that's right) above their name.  So if you're not careful you can get caught off guard.  I've had one kill me in 2 shots, where normally it would take a while.

So yeah, not that scary, not gonna keep you from going outside, but you have to be more careful for sure.

While there's still plenty of people who don't like gender-locked classes, I think it's more acceptable nowadays simply because there's less of a stigma about someone playing a different gender.

Additionally, having a larger selection of classes helps, some classes do have both genders, and being able to edit your char's looks helps as well.

While I personally hate gender locking IF while playing as a female character I can find gear/costumes that are not skimpy, I won't complain as much.

Tera for example is the bane of that. I tried my best to play a female character but they sound like children while wearing barely any clothes.

Dark nights was one of many things I really, really hated in Vanguard. Combine it with NPCs gone, and it's a gamebreaker (for me). Skipping this one.
