Where did all the old timers (45+) go?
What do you guys play atm?

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.

The Division launches on Tuesday. That's where I'll be... :D

    Well I am 70.

I am playing Pillars of Eternity and Smite with EVE thrown in every once and a while.

As far as Smite goes I really suck at it, but old reflexes tale their toll :)

Definitely in the 45+ crowd (and then some) and playing EVE in a small Corp that is heavy with this age group.

Get off our lawn you whippersnappers.

Lol not quite that old.  But right now it seems like I play everything but nothing.  I haven't had much that I could just get into and finish.

Dying Light The Following Enhanced Edition incl. a variety of mods.
    Dragon's Dogma, modded
    Fallout 4, heavily modded

I find these games extremely immersive, each in it's very own way.

Still on the edge to get into BDO, but the older i get the harder i find it to socialise (aka coping with people-drama) in mmorpgs.

Going to second this. I'm 32 and I'm below the average age in my corp (average seems to be around 35). A very significant portion of the corp is 45+.

I play some Skyrim, Moded for greater "world". I start over if my character dies. It's just to pass the time.
I don't play any MMO's anymore, still waiting for someone to bring it together in a "worldly" game.

Hey Rodingo you're playing Mordheim City of the Damned. I heard the game is pretty unforgiving and that your unit carries it wounds and casualties and there is no such thing as a save saving the bad mistakes you might make. Also the enemies level with you so you are facing progressively more difficult mobs as your party is injured.

@cheyane if unit falls in battle there is a chance of death(permanent), or injury which is permanent, but injury's have pro and con stats or you can get lucky and they just have down time with no lasting effect. But don't worry about units too much they are like employees they are expendable, kinda like darkest dungeon

So they are not like  important and you don't expect to keep them till the end. So it's not a game where you nurture and develop the fighters like in other games. Okay got it then. So you don't get attached to them.Playing X-Com Enemy Within and if I lose any of my guys I am like 'hell no. I'm reloading'

Oh no, they are important.  Well mainly your hero units.  @forcelima might have been referring more towards the henchmen which are cheaper than your hero units and you can field more henchmen than heroes in any battle.  But like in XCOM, the longer they stay around or stay alive the better they get.

Each warrior, henchman or hero, has 9 stats that you can increase periodically depending on how they did in the previous match.  These stats effect things like damage, chance to dodge, inventory space, increase chance to pass fear checks, chance to hit with ranged, chance to hit with melee, HP, etc. Then they each can learn up to 5 active skills and 5 passive skills.  These cost money and time to learn, as in they might have to sit out of a battle/match due to "learning" the skill then you will have to bring someone else in their place.  You can also equip them with various armor and weapon types which effect how they play. Such as two handed weapon does massive damage while equipping sword and board makes them a little more tanky with increased chances to parry, but then do less damage.

When they are "killed" in a match, they aren't necessarily dead right then and there.  After the match you review each and every warrior that just fought and see how they progressed in stats, see if they leveled, and each of your "killed" warriors from that match have a random chance of either actually dying or getting some type of wound that might cause them to lose an arm (no more two handed weapons for him) or a leg which will lesson their movement distance and their chance to climb up walls or drop down a wall without getting hurt. They could also suffer from some type of head injury that turns into a permanent debuff such as turning stupid and not being able to move sometimes, failing fear checks, having a to-hit chance reduced, etc.  It's also possible they will completely shake off any type of injury or just be wounded for a few days (which means they can't fight until they heal).

So ultimately you do end up caring for your soldiers because that hero or henchman that you had since day one, and molding him with skills and stat increases to be the warrior you want him to be might lose an arm in a battle, but he still might have a lot of utility which will force you to use him in a  different way, or to replace him with a weaker unit.

Overall it's a very fun game and is not really forgiving at times.

Thank you @rodingo I appreciate your explanation. Although it sounds very cool the idea that your heroes can lose a limb or become stupid  because they got a hit on their noggin, I am too poor a player to play a game that's so unforgiving. I will spend most of my time regretting the actions and the encounters to enjoy it much. I will also restart the game like crazy and in the end frustrate myself .

Understandable.  It's always put on sale on Steam during their big sale events and after you play through XCOM and want something similar but different, then I highly recommend.  At least in Mordheim you won't lose the whole game if one unit misses an easy shot.

Had that happen once while playing XCOM in ironman mode.  A soldier missed a point blank shot with 90% chance to hit.  The alien killed him on the next turn, which caused another soldier to panic who then shot and killed another soldier, which in turn ultimately lead to me losing that battle due to all all of my guys getting wiped out.  Which, after that mission, caused enough countries to pull their funding which lead to me losing the game.  Needless to say I will never play XCOM in ironman mode again LOL

38 years old here and I play Project 1999 which is classic Everquest and how it was at the time Velious was released (well as close as they can get it). Give it a go its free and well populated. Starter zones full too.

I (50+) still hang about here, hoping for an MMORPG to come along.  Meanwhile, I play a lot of old RPGs and Skyrim.

All you did was waste space in this thread. You contributed literally nothing as you aren't even remotely near the age the op is talking about. I'm older than you and even I don't apply. Next time use some common sense.
And miss out on a chance to brag?  pshaw!
