My thoughts on why this game sucks:

First of all: I already played lots of MMOs, lots... and in BnS I'm playing since first day and leveled 3 characters to level 45, so yes I know how things works in the game!

That's all I needed to know to cement my decision not to play despite how utterly bored I am.

3 characters to 45 in a couple weeks? ridiculous, why even have a leveling process at all at that point.

I don't understand why this game was even made. Why not just make a fighting game? The whole leveling/gear grinding aspect of it is so out of place, poorly done, and pointless. This game has 0 mechanics that we have come to expect from MMORPGs at this point, even 4 years ago when the game was made. Or rather I should say... the systems that are in place really feel like they were thrown in there in the most lazy attempt possible just to check the box. Yeah, we have crafting...

You may or may not be in the loop here so in the off chance none of your 260 posts has lead you to this fact I will pretend you just are ignorant of it. And that is...

The MMO gaming community at large has been complaining of a lack of innovation in the genera for years. It might shock you to find out that most games released these days are referred to WoW clones  (that means they use the standard themepark  classes , quest, gear, leveling,  ect ect. )

But when a game comes out that has different mechanics from the standard themepark games , different and innovate systems that do not follow the norm. The whole idea is suddenly "out of place", "pointless", and not what you expect.  They changed combat to be fact pace and engaging, they disconnected gear and stats from what you look like. They added a pvp centric end game and be best you can come up with is.. it is not enough like wow for you to enjoy.

Now most of these things you can find in other places, the Secret World shares some of them, the combat is far and away above anything else, and they even have the dull ass quest hub leveling system so that any player can follow the yellow arrows and make it to the end.  Just face it, this game isn't for you, it was never for you, and you were not the target player.  Move on and play WoW or FFXIV (the better themepark imo) because that is what you need guy.

Because if you let a new player have access to every skill and every skill point in the game, they'd have absolutely no idea how to play the game.

Played a Destroyer and a BM all the way to 45, at the end of the day, B&S is just another generic F2P Korean MMO with a Street Fighter Combat system. But if you think about it, we should call this game ¨Stun & Soul¨ .

P2W=paying for an advantage over others that is UNOBTAINABLE via normal means. BnS is not p2w, sure you can buy keys and such to get your weapon quicker or XP boosters, but honestly it is not. as for hitting max in 15 hours that is a flat out lie. i have been playing since CN/KR launch and i know where and how to lvl quickly. It still takes around 32 hours to hit max.
    1.  Thats YOUR definition.  Thats not THE definition.  If you want to piddle along taking baby steps toward what peopel with money buy straight away great.  and even better, don't bother, because by the time you get it they have moved on to the next game.

    2. Oh its a flat out lie?
    apology accepted.

Not to be hard on you, ive seen it time and time again with these terrible games.  Theres always a small faction that was just waiting so long on it, posting on fansites, building a pre game guild etc even though the writing is on the wall in big red letters they won't read it, even when they realize its just them, 2 remaining guildmates, a handful of people that own them, and 4 thousand gold seller/bots.

My reason for not even buying the game is because of "Game Guard" I don't want "Spyware on my system" and they should actually be required to legally inform people that they are installing "Game Guard" as well as a link to their agreement" on the pre-order page, or in the "Terms OF Service" itself which most games today do not.

I understand that to a lot of people its an Anti-Cheat, but to me I don't trust it, and uninstalling their game won't uninstall game guard from my system fully.

I actually wrote their customer service an email, and I remember back in the day when NCsoft wasn't F2P my first game ever played by their company without Game Guard.

I found it kinda boring, personally. Outside of that cliché storyline and the combat, there seems very little to keep my interest. That being said, the combat and animations in this game are great, and if you're a pvper the combat itself might be enough to keep you playing for a while. This is also one of the few F2P Asian MMO's that I felt they really put effort into the localization rather than just the bare minimum to get it released.

So since we all agree the leveling process is the weakest part of the game, why is it a bad thing it can be done in 15 hours?

Do we really want it to take 60 hours?

"They don't even try dealing with the gold sellers. It's a constant wall of spam until you turn it off. Even three days before the game released I had to turn my chat off for this very reason. They don't give two shits about the gold spam."

They've made initiatives to fight it in the past week.  Also, once you get past the starter areas, there's only a few goldsellers that bothered to level that high to spam, so it takes 2 clicks to get rid of them.  Not bad for a popular f2p game.

"The PvP in this game is a joke. You have to try it because I don't think you played it enough to realize how bad it really is. I know it's hard to believe but at level cap it's all about killing your opponent in an almost unbreakable combo which by the way only lasts 3-5 seconds. While I enjoy locking a player into a combo and completely obliterating their health bar in 3-5 seconds with my Blade Master the novelty fades quickly."

This game has the most skill-intensive pvp combat I've seen in an MMO.  The trick is to not get caught in that combo with your escape down.  You can also use moves to i-frame through the CC.

That's not to mention the game has innovations like tag-team 3v3s.

I would suggest fighting better players.  Your fights will not be so easy.

" You may or may not be in the loop here so in the off chance none of your 260 posts has lead you to this fact I will pretend you just are ignorant of it. And that is...

Yeah on one side people are complaining that it's too similar, and on the other that it doesn't have enough of the "standard MMO" stuff.

I read from the 5.2 reviewer that he was complaining because there was no mounts in the game.  There is seriously no need for mounts in the small chunks of world we have to work with and the gliding is just cool.

I'll have to agree with this.  The fluidity of Tera's combat just seems better.  The UI is better also, as well as everything else really, in terms of traditional MMORPG leveling and ease of use.  B&S is a disaster of a game.

I seem to have rustled your jimmies quite a bit. You like Blade and Soul, good for you, yet you missed my point entirely.

Action combat with a PVP endgame is innovation to you? Thoughts like that hurt the MMO genre far more than people wanting WoW clones. I never said I wanted this game to be like WoW, far from it. In fact, at it's core Blade and Soul IS a WoW clone. Aside from the combat, you do exactly what you do in WoW. Grind gear, grind dailies, queue for dungeons and PVP. I am certain you will dismiss that assertion with a wave of your hand and a scoff, but it doesn't change the fact that it is true. If anything this game is a massive step backwards with not only its on-rails questing, but on-rails ZONES.

I actually wanted innovation from Blade and Soul, evidently you did not and you are perfectly satisfied with "the combat is cool! call it a day!" Admittedly, for the price of admission the combat is fun enough to kill a couple hours. Yet, that is it. There is literally no reason for Blade and Soul to exist as the game that it is. None. A true PVP-centric MMO would use the concept of massively multiplayer worlds to enhance the PVP. Notice that little world "massively," I used there. Doesn't mesh very well with 1v1 arenas. You know what does? Fighting games, like I said.

If this game is "innovative," to you and the rest of the MMORPG fans in the west, then the genre truly is dead.

i could easly take time out of my day to explain how it is not possible to hit max in 15 hours, i could also explain how pay to win works. But i honestly do not feel the need too, i tried that guide and with the AMOUNT of people farming these spots you will be lucky to get it in 30 hours. So yea, enjoy your delusional victory.

P2W? Oh god, where do I even start with this.

This isn't really meant to be a PvE MMO and if you truly believe the game is P2W, well lets just say that stats are balanced in PvP Arena. Gear literally doesn't mattter. At all.

Also, in all honesty, I truly believe this to be a troll post. As someone who actually has played 3 classes to lvl 45 and has done probably over 500 games of arena.

Oh, and for anyone interested in the game. Play it for only the arena PvP, if you don't like arena, then I probably don't recommend it (Even though I do actually enjoy some of the endgame dungeons, but I wouldn't go as far as to spam them)

I love the people dogpiling OP for having 3 max characters. If he had only 1 or none, everyone would say he didn't dedicate the time needed to formulate an opinion. If he has more than 1, than he obviously must like the game so he is just a troll.

I quit Blade and Soul after the very first 20 levels and I believe that if it wasn't for the combat system and the lack of other new  game options, most people in the West would have done the same thing.
Blade and Soul proves 2 things. The first thing is that mmo gamers, were really thirsty for a new MMO. All these "MMOish" games that we have these days on steam (early access form most of them) took the place of  many annually MMORPG releases we had in the past. If something is the only new option, it's eventually the best option as well. Secondly, it's the combat system which comes in a form of a "statement" from the players and says "Stop the tab target combat system we had enough". I can't argue with that. I guess MMORPG games should have taken this turn years now. Tab target is outdated and boring.

Apart from these two reasons, which are really important I see nothing but a dull boring game with the most boring pve experience I ever had. Asian like aesthetics which I really detest ( female like males, porn star females, a weird kid class and stupid hair) which I don't like at all. I also don't want to level an MMO character to play something like SMITE in the end game. I'll go straight to SMITE for my pvp and no I don't care about grinding new weapons. I prefer balanced arena games. As for the world pvp.. Come on we had way better games with open world pve. Yeah, yeah with a different and less "skilled" combat system but anyway as an open world pvp game B&S, is by far superior to older games in the area of "open world mechanics". PvP as an endgame is also a very easy way to use as an excuse for the lack of PvE content. Some balance between these two would be nice.

The situation we go through now makes me sad for games like Age Of Conan and Warhammer online and the huge mistakes these developers did in the past, which results in people considering B&S a good game. Sadly the success of B&S will do more harm than good in the long term.

This has to be the worst review ever. Subjective and full of false information.
  • PepeqPepeq Member UncommonPosts: 1,977
The problem here is that you have a bunch of non-PVPers playing a PVP game.  Open world PVP doesn't happen when the player base avoids it like the plague.  If 99% of your player base hates PVP, you're game is doomed to a mass exodus once all the PVE content is consumed.  The 1% that was actually there for PVP will leave out of lack of PVP once they've run off all the PVErs.

This will be true for any MMO that is built around PVP as the primary focus... because niche games don't exist, they get hijacked by gamers and either turned into the game they want or destroyed in their wake.
