I enjoyed it.  I liked farming and the PvE wasn't groundbreaking, but average... which I don't mind honestly.  There were pvp zones which I also liked going into.  Overall, kinda fun.

Shame they don't release the server software, so we can make our own. They are obviously scared, that if they did that, no one would pay them their retarded pay 2 win cash shop prices.

I can think of 1 game that's done this. Why do people even bother bringing it up when it will never happen?

Archeage has a solid base to build on but this farce of a relationship between Trion and XL has completely ruined it. Trion has zero class these days. I don't know what happened between Rift and this game but they remind me of this guy now:

Like many games, AA is pretty good if you have good people to play with, otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. I lucked out and got into a good guild in the game and the game is pretty good. Solo casuals will definitely have a hard time getting into the game.

My guild originally from Star Wars Galaxies migrated over to SWTOR which lasted barely 4 months then migrated to Guild Wars 2 for almost 2 years (I was AWOL for quite a while during that time) then now ArcheAge and my impressions left me unimpressed, I had to actually ask my guild leader why they picked this game.

I'm surprised this awful mess of pay to win crap hasn't gone into maintenance mode. I suppose there are always stupid people out there to lap up Trion's never ending supply of RNG cash shop stuff though.

That scene sums it up. Good movie too :)

Archeage is a great experience, go ,play, enjoy, see, sail, find friends or bring some, it will be a ride.

But it wont last long, nor be balanced.

    Its bittersweet.

For what it offers it really is.

TRION just did not know how to handle a real mmo.

Great outline but is basically still a beta level game. Farming system should be adopted by another game, as well as the trade system (with risk reward considerations) housing was lazy as was the 'own open land' nonsense.

The fact that they had all these big plans about dwarves and a new area and after 18 months its been crickets on all of that shows they in it for the money and not actually trying to make the game better.

Well anyone with a brain already knew that I suppose. But for al the money this game has supposedly made it hasnt spent any of it on the game, that much s pretty apparent. Basically anything that has been done or added has a monetization factor

Alpha ArcheAge was probably one of the best MMOs to almost hit the market at the time.  What they did tot he Labor Points and cash-shop should be criminal.

It has a lot of good and interesting gameplay, but too bad it has greedy devs and publishers behind, esentially making a Casino Online out of it. On top of it EU suffered from a lot of cheating that went unpunished if you payed enaugh $. Designed to empty your credit card, or let you be a nobody peasant forever.
  • mgilbrtsnmgilbrtsn Member EpicPosts: 3,430
I really enjoyed it.  A lot of people criticize the monetization, but I would give it a try.

    It was cumbersome.
After beta, I didn't feel like going back to try it with all the idiocy surrounding it.

Too bad, there was potential... but I noticed pretty early it wouldn't get better and they would keep their daft systems in place.

Ah well, just not a game for me... but good that there are other people still enjoying it.

I liked the gliding, sailing and farming systems, the rest of the features were unremarkable.

Was great fun during the "alpha" phase (never before has that word been so utterly abused, lol), but after launch it was a chaotic mess of exploiting, hacking, botting and duping on a scale I've never seen before.

I had actually managed to get my hands on two farmhouse-sized plots and 2 small plots in the launch chaos, but after the first 4 weeks or so I just walked away from it all and never logged in again. The plot expiry hackers probably had all my land 2 weeks later...

    Perhaps overextended themselves.
They were making a military game that ended up folding. They were investing in Defiance which imo never panned out. Then when people realized Rift was not all that great ,started to go back to wow or jump to other games. So Trion basically had little money left. This was proven when they bantered about selling shares and i think they did, although that entire market is beyond my scope.

I do pay close attention to all the dealings that go on from the business side of things and when i saw Trion got AA,i said oh god no.Then my worry came to a reality,Trion grabbed the rights to publish it but did absolutely nothing to promote it.It took them like 2 months to finally advertise it but made sure to fully advert Defiance and  Rift a game that really didn't need more advertising since it already had a ton of players check it out.

So here we are,Trion is low on money and has no say in AA beyond their contract obligations.Since they  have zero communication with gamer's,.i would say they are not even attempting to communicate any changes. My gut feeling from day 1 was AA had some buzz behind it,Trion simply wanted to cash in on it but had no care for the actual game.

Trion is the typical case of business first games second, like about a 80/20 split, needs to be closer to 50/50.

Decent game that was ruined by greedy and lack of understanding.

Yes XLGames is pretty good at delivering patches....too bad the game was ruined for me early on by hackers and botters and Trion's incompetence in handling them.

They are updating the NA version to the Korean version.  Which is a few patches ahead.  So technically they aren't creating new content they are just translating it from the Korean version.  Once they are caught up it will slow down and then you will see the true update pace.
Are you onto something or just on something?

    I'm finally stepping away with BnS and BDO right around the corner. And here's why;
"So about a couple months ago I blew a Cursed Obsidian Bow that was Epic along with my event Hellkissed Dagger as well as a Celestial Propellent. In desperation I sold all of my properties. 2 Gazebos, Townhouse, crafting cottage with all benches, 3 30 Gilda workstations, and my whole plot in general just to recover my stuff. Even bought (yes I gave in) $70 in Apex. In the end I was left with an Arcane Obsidian Bow and no land. I stopped playing for about a month. After being sick with frustration and taking a break, I assumed that I just had some really bad luck. So I started playing again. Had folks welcoming me back. So today I decided to upgrade my Auroria gear and start working on a new bow. All I was aiming for a a Celestial. It failed to go past Rare 9 times in a row. After selling a bunch of stuff and getting a little money from trade runs, I got it to Unique. I blew through a bunch of luckies and yellow regrade charms. Spent $50 in Apex again and even spent on upgrading to Cursed in hopes that it would proc to Celestial from Unique. Failed again. So i got it to Heroic and figured I could use a lucky and yellow and maybe it'll be nice and great success to Celestial. Nope. So Trion has a bunch of my money, time, and in-game resources I worked my ass off for. What's the lesson here? Grind for gold and just buy things outright. DON'T spend your money EVER on this game for regrades. It's very much like a gambling addiction. After losing majorly again, I sat here at the screen staring and wanting to vomit. Yeah I know people blow more on this game. But they obviously have more time to play and more money to dump into this game. For those of us with kids, jobs, school, it's not worth it. If you love lot's of PvP content and extra time and money on your hands, this is your game. Unfortunately for the rest of us, I recommend steering clear. There are better MMOs to suit your pace and not dig into your wallet."

Getting too old for this $&17!

I am not an ArcheAge player but coming from Lineage 2 that has a enchant system where anything past +3 has a very high chance of destroying your item if it fails I understand what you are saying. You never try to Over Enchant unless you can afford for it to fail.

I remember back in the early days I tried to Over Enchant my dagger and blew it going to +4. I worked months for that dagger so I was heart broken and quit the game and also sold my account.

Came back a few months later and started fresh but the hard lesson had been learned.
