That's just it.....I don't think this stuff is sexy at all. It's just............. weird. Idunno. I guess I just don't understand Asians.

Being in your underwear while customizing your toon seems weird to you?

Your opinion seems weird to me.

If you had to filter through a bunch of different costumes in order to be able to tell how wide your pelvis is or how fat/thin your thighs will look or how wide your shoulders are seems like it would be titious and tiresome.

having the toon in their underwear while you customize the look of there body in order to get a baseline of what all costumes will look like on top of it seems to me to make perfect sense.

I actually find too much preoccupation with dressing up your character in an RPG weird.... Asian or not. IDK, neither Barbie nor GI Joe had any appeal for me as a kid. I was a board gamer and chess player from just as soon as I was able to play them.

As someone who grew up playing pen and paper rpg's I can't get enough of it :) lol.

IMO no amount of customization can ever be too much..as long as it's not overly cumbersome.

For players like you these games always include a few presets that allow quick creation and being able to jump right in.

What I don't understand is why don't they take it a step further? The female models still look goofy. They look like they could be snapped in half just by tripping. There's nothing "strong" looking about an anorexic woman with twigs for arms beating any kind of monster or man. It's laughable, like bikini armor.

If they're gonna spend money to change small, useless things like underwear and combat stances why not go all out with the budget and change stuff that actually add's up to tangible changes? Oh, that's right, they only do this to avoid controversy. They couldn't care less about demographics or strong "womyn" because if they did they'd change A LOT more than what they've done.

What you just said there, sums it up pretty well for me. These aren't sexy designs they are just weird cartoons that are mismatched within the same body.

The changes to the clothing...eh either one works for me.  But the stances?  Sheesh if they're going to change them, at least they shouldn't make them look so awkward.

Since when is Tuesday a direction?

It's not censorship if no one is making them do it.

They are voluntarily editing their product to make it more appealing to the target demographic.

That isn't censorship. They could very well release it as-is in the US, and some groups may protest, but no one would block them or force them to stop. Heck, they could release it with full animated nudity if they chose to do so. But they realize that doing so would limit their sales, at least in the "West".

The nice thing about the "west" is that you get to chose with your wallet. If you care deeply enough about the edits, don't buy or play the edited product. If you think the game is overly-sexualized or offends you in some way, don't play or buy it.

You have the choice to refuse the product, which is a nice thing. No one is going to make you play the edited Sesame Street version if you don't want, just like no one is going to make you play the Asia Carrera edition either. And if a company doesn't make the version you want, you have options there too.

Why should it resemble reality at all from an artistic standpoint?  The characters in the game are not strong because of their body...   they are strong because of MAGIC.  It's fictional and stylized in a certain artistic variety.

Don't get me wrong... I'm not 100% immune to looks. It's just that my strong preference is realistic grit, dents, blood and dirt. I want to look like I just had a bloody battle and didn't just step off the runway after modeling lingerie :)

In an RPG, this looks better to me...

I'm a huge Skyrim fan so as you might know, everything is available for modders. Yeah, you can download "Eye-Candy" followers. But I much prefer the depth and humor of some of the more comprehensive followers like Inigo, Vilja and Anduniel who can offer situational interaction within the game. They don't come with pre-set perfect bodies. They don't wear armored bikinis and thigh high boots. But they enrich the game for me in ways that matter to me.

I never suggested it look like reality, reality was never brought up nor implied. The models, or the female models, are just goofy, they don't have to be realistic amazons but this is taking it way too far in the other direction. I can appreciate various artstyles (I liked dragon's crown), I'm just miffed that they are making such minute changes that don't really matter, the things they have changed thus far seem pointless in comparison to the whole of the product.

I'm still going to try the game, I've never let aesthetics turn me off from a game, I just find the changes laughable.

Again, I can appreciate an exaggerated artstyle but I personally feel like they dropped the ball when it comes to the chicks. Changing the underwear and stances is comparative to pissing in the ocean in my eyes.

  • BenjolaBenjola Member UncommonPosts: 843
All these Victoria secret's angel faces doing super model stances and poses wearing stilletos while fighting animals, monsters and people in the wild as in Black desert for example, is such an immersion blocker it's not even funny.
There's time for everything, if I wanted to get a boner I wouldn't be playing video games to accomplish that.
And... for all the pedos in the thread fighting for their 'rights'... theres free anime porn for you everywhere.
    Go get it!

However, there is a way for moronic developers to add sexuality in their games without being a laughing stock, the way Age of Conan did it almost a decade ago.
AoC female models were very hot looking and could even play nude but they were all wearing realistic armor in battle, same as males.

I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.

Quest censored in blade and soul due to Misogyinstic plotline.

"The original quest featured a “misogynistic philanderer” who seeks to rekindle his libido after being thrown in prison and is subsequently rendered sexually impotent (all of which is a result of him cheating on his wife).

The quests he offers involves obtaining things which will cure him of this ailment, including stealing women’s clothes, and peeping on bathing women. He asks you to do this because he believes these women are nymphs, and according to a local legend, they are forced to marry him if he has their clothes.

It turns out these women are Lycandi, and observe a similar custom – so he ends up being forced to marry one of them and ends up getting her knocked up. The staffer makes a point in saying the guy is vocal about not loving her, that he thinks she’s unattractive (because she has muscles), and blames the player for ruining his life.

Apparently, this has all been completely re-written to make the player character into “a decent human being” who doesn’t “go around trying to force women into marriage against their will.” Instead, the NPC is now a scholar “who’s studying the Lycandi” in the hopes of “bringing their currently-at-odds communities together peacefully.”

Instead of being sent off by the NPC “to find what he believed to be home remedy versions of Viagra,” the player is now asked to “research different aspects of the Lycandi’s lifestyle to better understand them.” The aforementioned bathing scene has been changed to remove “any degree of him spying on the women.”

While this is one instance of censorship, the staffer goes on to mention that in its original form the questline “**made pretty much everyone on the team really uncomfortable**.” They further slammed the original content"

“It’s one thing to have content in a mature-rated game that addresses sexuality or plays around with adult humor, but another entirely where it makes use of crass and frankly misogynistic concepts.  That sort of thing just isn’t funny and it raised way more concerns than it did laughs.”

The woman in charge of this game for the west is a feminist, what more do you need to know than that.  Why they would put a person like that in charge of a boob simulator is beyond me, if she was in charge of GW2 or something that is understandable but this?

    Lol Ncwest u silly.

To defenders:  If this is not censorship, what is?  because Ncwest still says they aren't censoring and this is just westernization.

If it is realism you want, this is even more stupid.

She had time to put up her hair, braid it, put on make-up, but forgot to put on a helmet.

She even has eye-shadown on, that will help her in the fight I'm sure....Lancôme to the rescue.

Someone should buff her Wisdom, because she's not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Also, apparently her enemy is just as stupid, they managed to give her a nosebleed instead of kill her...tsk tsk tsk, using the wrong side of the sword again.

Okay , i am out of words to say . It's just  ... too much .

Even with all the censorship , this game will rate as R-16  , same age as of 90% nowadays womyn lost their innocents .
There are no way for those dead brains can drop the rate lower than R-16 .

I have nothing to say anymore .

Women didn't fight during the middle ages.

So if you want realism, put all women in the field hospital and kitchen.

    I prefer fantasy.
