If you liked GW2, then you'll like HoT. If you didn't like Gw2, then HoT probably won't change that.

    Is that a fair assessment?

no, HoT was aimed for the hardcore crowd

    the core game wasnt

that is why theyre panicking , they dont know, what foot to stand on anymore

many casuals have already left, so they might as well give it to the hardcores now

What are you talking about, hardcore crowd?  I solo most of the new content in a glass cannon elementalist no problems and ive just returned after a year.

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

It seems fair to me. Of course I would say that is true for every single mmo I play. I can't think of an exception offhand.
I will probably buy the expansion.
Are there people who have reached the "endgame" or what ever that might be considered in GW2?
If so, how does that re playable content hold up?

tell me , that you really think, that HoT was aimed for casuals

    i dare you

if it was, they did one of the poorest jobs in the history of mankind

better hurry , if you want the hardcore version, the devs are already swinging the nerfhammer

it wont help them much, they will only anger the remaining players

    they already tried NPE...whats next?

i like the new expansion, lot of new content, i agree with Magnetia - if you liked GW2 and get bored at 80, YOU WILL LIKE HEART OF THORNS :)

    I bought mine cheap here :) www.g2a.com/r/guild-wars-2-heart-of-thornr-eu-na-html

Some people who bought HoT from G2A got their accounts banned.. you may or may not.. just putting it out there. Some people are selling dodgy keys on there.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I agree with this.   There are many sties including metacritic giving a more precise barometer of public reaction to the expansion . . . it's not good.
    Hmm.
So now that metacritic is 7.6 with 455 8+ ratings to 140  4< ratings is the expansion good?
Or is it only a precise barometer when the haters sneak in while the fans are busy playing the game?
It's a barometer when i say it's a barometer . . . . if you paid any attention at all to my avatar on these forums you would see i clearly am amazing and have the best opinion . . . duh

yup seems fair, Anet have clearly listened to a lot of feedback, and you can see glimpses of gw1 design ethos starting to come through, but if you didn't like GW2 to start then the game has not changed that much.
Can you expand on the "glimpses of GW1 design ethos"? As this is the only thing that would bring me back to the game.

I qualify as someone who can certainly expand on "glimpses of GW1 design ethos by Plato"

    IS simple

    . .. . hope i answered your question

It isn't casual and it isn't hardcore. A middle ground does exist.

hardcores love it, they dont want a nerf wave

    casuals are leaving in droves

there may be a middle ground, but this isnt it

I tried to get back into Guild Wars 2, but this expansion just isn't for me.

I wrote a full review which is featured on Metacritic. Check it out here if you would like to read my thoughts: http://www.gamerevolution.com/review/guild-wars-2-heart-of-thorns

    Big trouble indeed.

When I want to appreciate the game I hit the play GW2 button.

    Currently playing: GW2
Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders

    Worth it.

Still the best PvE game on the market.

Is it still mob stuff to death while autoattacking with your professions highest dps weapon?

if they fix pve so it is challenging, I could see gw2 hot be worth picking up.

I am waiting to see how raids work out... And they better be releasing a ton of them cause three bosses ain't close to enough.

Did you miss all the whining about not being soloable?
Mobs fight better and have better mechanics.
The new meta events have decent mechanics.
But a in a zerg you can auto attack, die and get rezzed.

This is great news! My big beef was the gating, but it sounds like they partially addressed that which is good.

Glad to hear that mobs are better and require at least 2 people. I hope anet sticks to their guns.

without the core game , they wouldnt have come this far, most other mmos dont have

    such a stable platform

i dont feel like levelling my revenant, playing the same content for 24th time isnt fun anymore

i stopped doing the LS /LW content long time ago, same reason as SWTOR

spamming buttons for a short cinematic get old very fast IMO
