P2P only, but ... SHOP ???

Wait a minute ... WoW is subscription only - but has a shop ???

How exactly does that make any sense ?!?

I think Blizzard can milk WoW for next 5-10 easily.
F2P transition for current players would expand WoW's life by who knows how many years and provide steady income.
B2P progression server for "old WoW players" like myself would probably give them huge one-time cash injection etc.
There are ways, it's just strange that Blizzard is holding so firmly to this P2P+cash shop business model, since it's obvious that P2P part of the model is holding them back (together with low quality expansions).

Shitty mounts and pets that hardly anyone cares about. It's all about them rare spawn, raid and arena mounts. Actually fuck arena, it's been a joke for years.

Everquest 2 did the same thing the last years before going F2P. Wow fans initially laughed and mocked EQ2 fans but 6 months after Wow started with selling the sparkling my little pony mount.

If you can, why not both eat the cake and keep it?

And the shop might be more restricted than most F2P games have but it still is a bit greedy. If Blizzard want to increase the earnings they need to up the fun, that would make everyone happy. Selling sparkling pets is just annoying to most players.

I don't know, it seems a lot of WoW players bought into the whole sparkly pony thing, if anything, i am betting that most WoW players would be happy to see more 'cosmetic' items in the cash shop, it certainly worked fine for SW:TOR, although i doubt Blizzard would be willing to go the hybrid route, although if they lose another 4 million subs, they might consider it, but that could be years and several expansions away yet.

As subs continue to drop I expect Blizzard to find ways to compensate including more cash shop items for sale, and eventually F2P, inevitable really.

FFXIV lets you rent extra space instead of allowing you to acquire it in game, as well as stripping items from various seasonal events just so they can sell it in their shop, so yeah....
