The Thing About This Game (Warning : Very Long Post).

If you like a simple straight-forward free to play shoot-em up game at the end of a long hard day then this is the game for you. It’s basically a 3rd person shooter without the complex power/skill/armor/gear and rotations of other games. And to be honest, it’s actually a fun game to play. Now here comes the “But”.

Connectivity.

As you can see from the few threads on this forum, there are big issues with connectivity even on the PC servers. If you go to the game’s forums you will find a lot of complaints about this on the console servers; lots lots lots more. There are random disconnects which can result in a very frustrating game play experience, especially when in Expeditions (Trion’s latest content pack).

You will also experience excessive lag. We’re talking to the point where everything can start to look like a powerpoint slide presentation especially during the holiday events.

This is further exacerbated by a certain gun within the game called a BMG which produces a glowing light effect on the screen of everyone else except those using the gun when in heal mode. It will be so bad that you will find it difficult if not impossible to target anything to shoot at. Needless to say, there are many within the game that use this to grief others while insisting that it’s perfectly fine to do so. Btw, there’s no graphics setting to turn this effect off.

Leveling.

Leveling is via completing missions with a story arc which loosely ties in with the TV Series. These aren’t difficult and can be fun with the cut-scenes to add to the story. Unfortunately the only way you can reach max level is by PvP; unless you spend some cash and buy the DLC’s to enable additional missions to do, in order to achieve max level.

You will also need to do “Time Trials” involving driving your vehicle through rings over a race course. This by itself doesn’t sound difficult except it’s in the open world where the enemy can and do appear, sometimes right smack in the middle of one of those rings that you need to drive through. Added to this is the fact that the controls for the vehicles are so clunky you will end up feeling as though you’re driving either a feather or a brick; depending on which vehicle you choose.

PvP

PvP by itself is divided into 2 types of encounters, i.e. fixed maps or open world PvP. Both have their issues, one of the most annoying being the fact that if people PvP often enough they will know where the spawn points are which usually results in spawn camping occurring.

Open world PvP presents its own issues, predominantly that some locations result in both opposing teams spawning at the same spawn point. The result of this occurrence is fairly obvious.

And lastly, it is also possible to use hacks to achieve kills in the game for which there are some who do not shy away from doing so. Although why they do this is beyond me since there is no leader-board to speak of. Presumably it’s just for the fun of it.

Range.

A word of advice to any who intends to buy the lockboxes offered in the game with real life money in order to own that shiny new gun, “DON’T !!!” Your chances for actually owning the weapon is so slim that you would have better luck if you sell all you own, go to Vegas and put everything on “0” in roulette. There are people who do get to own that shiny new gun but then as Mr. Harry asks, “Do you feel lucky ?”. If not then save your hard earned money and go buy your loved one a nice surprise gift. The payoff will definitely be better.

With all that being said, it is still a fun game to play. The community is always helpful. People are always reviving you when you die (there’s a reason for that but that’s for another day), weapons are easy to come by and seriously, you don’t have to crack your head too much worrying about which spells or guns or swords etc to use before going into an encounter. Just be ready to go “Frack !!!” every now and then when the disconnects occur or when range kicks you between your legs.

Thanks for sharing info, i have started playing it recently and having fun. I am really not into shooting games but this one seem quite nice with story and such.

Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.

    WTF is RANGE?

Range = RNG. Random Number Generator. Basically just throwing the dice in the hopes that you get the numbers you want to get the prize gear you're after out of the lock-boxes. I just call it Range.
