11:35 Demon Hunter is very different from Death Knights and other tanks, being more similar to the Monk. DH is very aggressive doing a lot of damage, lots of mitigation. The team's expectations are that those who will play Demon Hunters are those who are currently playing other melee classes.
11:32 Demon Hunter - It has a lot of history in the franchise starting with Warcraft 3. They're high mobility oriented melee class.
Everyone will get a 12th character slot.
11:26 Professions are a focus. Garrisons replaced them too much. We have a bigger team working on professions (individual quest lines for each type) than ever before. We're looking into updates to improve the UI and new functionality with new recipes and things like that.
11:22 Artifacts - Artifacts are your most trusted ally in Legion. DPS will be derived from relics you find that you socket that are obtained in many ways. These will take the place of traditional weapon drops. You progress your Artifact.
What about dual specs? We want to make sure it's not a complicated process. You'll start with one, but have the opportunity to earn more. You'll have catch up mechanisms to make them more powerful to equal your primary. You'll still have to earn relics specific to your Artifact. As it currently is, players will be able to choose loot specialization which would affect the type of relic that would drop.
11:20 New Zones - Dalaran - Is the Northrend Dalaran moving? Conceptually, yes, but the Northrend Dalaran will remain.
Eventually, you will fly in the Broken Isles, not immediately. The way we did it in WoD is a good compromise to allow the ground-based gameplay to shine and then reward players who have experienced the content with the ability to fly.
The first steps of the flying achievement will be introduced from the start of Legion so that players can work on it.
11:14 How did the Legion get to the Broken Isles? Twelve thousands years ago on this exact spot has been a huge festering wound on the face of the world. Night elves have sealed it by using the five Pillars of Creation and build Temple of Elune. Now it has burst open again and the Legion is pouring out.
11:10 Lore - We are in "our current" Azeroth. We need to fight off the Legion in a world we actually care about.
The core question is "why is the Legion so focused on taking over our world?"
Gul'Dan is under orders, plans he has to fulfill. Illidan is important to those plans.
Is Illidan a bad guy or is he on our side and won't he resent us? Illidan's pretty pissed off. We put him down and now we need to find him to help us. We don't know how he'll react, hope you're prepared for it!
11:08 We've been working on this expansion for a year, year and a half. It's something we kept under wraps and knew it would be happening since before Warlords.
11:07 am Tom Chilton, Ion Hazzikostas and Alex Afrasiabi take the stage.
11:00 am And we're off.
10:38 am Eastern Blizzard developers are on hand on the final day of Gamescom to talk to the world about the World of Warcraft expansion, Legion. The presentation is to begin at the top of the hour and we'll be live blogging the event, or you can watch for yourself in the embedded stream below.

Insulted BM hunters. I have 3 words for that "Monks and Warlocks".
I agree 100% and, at times, it even felt like there were commercial breaks for the dance contest and costume contest etc.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Now maybe the fail hunters will actually go play a tanking class. I used to defend hunters in WoW, but in the dungeon finder, it's rare to have a hunter that doesn't try to pull everything during the run.
I think that's the point though... There is no new info to provide. Everything they've talked about is everything in the expansion. Looking to be a pretty boring and very lite expansion. I haven't resubbed since MOP and this expansion certainly doesn't have me excited to resub either.
Jeeze, the last WoW expansion I was actually excited for was Cataclysm (and how I was burnt on that one haha). Really makes one wonder what the heck is going on over at Blizzard, I mean are they really this out of touch with their playerbase? Apparently...

Rushed.
A lot of "how we failed with WoD comments out there as well in the - many - interviews they seem to have been doing.
It looks like something good, but i need more info on it before i jump on this one. I don't want something that is good for only 1 or 2 months. I just hope they get back to there roots and give us something we could say " OMG, i can't wait to get at home to play this game! " all over again like in the old days.
My thoughts as well. This was a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding. If they had any additional features they thought people would be excited about they would have revealed them already. What they announced is likely the best we can hope for. Anyone holding out for new awesome stuff is likely in for disappointment.
A big part of developing an MMO is putting in the systems in place. A large portion involves the engine and putting in place the basic pieces. Once that is in play, its actually a lot quicker to create content for the game. Art assets are able to be reused or modified and content can be developed rather swiftly for it. That is why expansions for games through history typically come out 1-2 years after a game's release as it takes a much smaller time to add onto a game over creating a new one.
Considering the size of the team, along with the absolute content drought of WoD, people are likely to expect a lot more for the game, particularly since you have things like WOTLK which had a lot more content to it with a vastly smaller team. Its only expected after a rather lack luster expansion people expect more from it and are skeptical... specially with a "Q and A" turns out to be a farse.
That would be because they announced this puppy way too soon. It's not going to release until very late 2016 or early 2017 at best... you will see two Blizzcons come and go before this game is released. You can't talk about a game that isn't really fleshed out yet... and this one is far from fleshed out.
Like at all.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yep. Look at the 2 years or so after vanilla. 12 significant content patches. And they did that whilst producing BC. There will have been a cost though. And comments at the conference call like "6.2 was our biggest ever content patch" haven't gone down well,
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
When will people realize that Blizzard has become (metaphorically speaking) fat and lazy.
I just can't understand why people give this studio so much credit these days. The las 2-3 years have been a complete and utter joke. They literally can't get past their own hubris, and have been riding the coat tails of FAR too loyal fans for FAR too long.

Yes, tools are there so is faster to develop, but working on 6 games now instead of one, and I love Heroes and Hearth, they're going to bring a bunch of players to WoW after the movie or when goes free...
