I thought it was pretty fun, I didn't put all that much time into it simply because I didn't want to have invested and get wiped before release.

I kept my expectations low on this game, but i'll eventually try it out when it goes open beta.  I'll end up playing it casually if it's not as horrible as others have said it is.  I pretty much know what to expect though, since i've seen quite a few videos on it already.

Since I very stupidly bought the Wrath of God founders pack I have been trying to get a little value out of my purchase.

One HUGE problem with that idea:

I don't play that much, above a casual but well below the min/max type, and I have already hit the caps.

Some will say, `but it will reset in a couple days' and I say that does not matter to me at all.

What matters to me is when I want to play a game and progress my character that is what I expect to be able to do not run into a barrier because the content is too thin to support even a few hours per day of play time.

It is bad enough to have to repeat the same instances over and over and over again but running into a wall that stops my progression, especially when I don't play that hard, is pissing me off monstrously.

I'm not even going to bother talking about all the bugs and the horrid storyline with dialog written by an 8th grade Russian fantasy writing class.

This is clearly biased as I really doubt OP knows what action combat is about. The combat system is a very standard action based game where you can refer to stuff such as Neverwinter, Tera, Vindictus, and so on, where you attack you get temporarily "rooted" and there's cast that you can move and some can't and so on. Down to the baseline, if you don't understand why these are necessary for action mmos, don't play action mmos. Instead, go back to WoW and Archeage and or any pure tap based mmos instead. I used to think, if leftclick is tied to the damage, all I need to do is massive click anything at all and I pwn the game, correct? After been doing that and it did not take me far, I took some time to gather myself and figure why. The short version of the story is that in action mmos you don't really just spam buttons; there're few occasions there's dos and don'ts. You can have that feel in most action mmos, in Skyforge that sense is being amplified and if you don't do what the class should be doing, you might end up dying, a lot.

The repetition farming of sparks actually makes me exciting, I mean, finally there's some grind that I can look forward to, to actually set a goal and work toward and feel achieved. The claim that progression will tie to cashshop would only be made by casuals, where cashshop does provide a lot of progression convenience, but not necessity. After all the game will be F2P with sub option and limited cashshop. I really don't think I'd be spending much on cashshop as I won't need convenience, I've always been that DIY kind of guy. Aside from that, I really wish there's more maps for storytelling. They might have lots of stuff under their sleeves and will revel them later. Such is the case for Destiny, even Witcher 3 (as they are pushing out a lot of DLCs).

The instanced world is really about that because it's an action mmos. Most of the action mmos are instanced. I am not very knowledgeable in network communications, but if anyone is, they'd understand that putting a whole world into a server or several servers are not really possible. Just to name few examples of why: ESO, Neverwinter, Tera, Vindictus, and so on. Besides, megaserver is just more effective in any aspect of mmos, examples: WoW, Rift (free server transfer), GW2.

People do have their own opinions about games, but if you complain about the game being bad without actually knowing the causes, the action is unfair; instead, the fair evaluation of the game would including why they'd do things this way, all things included above. Again, there's people who's loving the game, including me, and there's people who absolutely hate the game, including many others. I wish people who hate action mmos would find the better mmo genre to fit them, instead of wandering off the road and pick up a gem, only to throw the gem away because the color is a little bit off.

Has anyone experienced the problem of the game not accepting keybinds when using a gaming mouse & keyboard?

Both my mouse & keyboard have extra buttons/keys which the game simply refuses to recognize.

Additionally, for some strange reason my left and right arrow keys are not working despite keybinding these to A & D respectively. The up/down arrow keys work fine after keybinding, which makes this really strange.

Unfortunately if the above issues persist that's it for this game. I acknowledge it's in beta, but these to me are pretty fundamental issues.

How? I am struggling to get 4.5k prestige to unlock quest -.-'

I seriously have to ask then, why not play Vindictus instead? It has a great fighting system and its already out. Hell its the same kind of game but instead of Phantasy Star Online its Final Fight and Knights of the Round.

I'm sorry, but Animation Locking/Rooting is the antithesis of Action Combat.  Rendering the player immobile due to animations is very very bad.  Since action combat is more akin to FPS games, would you ever say that rooting a player in Counterstrike or CoD would be good?  Obviously not.  GW2, WS, BD, and ESO get it right.  They are highly mobile in their combat systems, when compared to Tera, Vindictus, and Neverwinter.

The instanced world is really about that because it's an action mmos. Most of the action mmos are instanced.      No, they aren't.  There aren't any instances in GW2, WS, ESO, BD, or Tera, if we're talking about non-openworld instances.  I think that's where you're confused.  People call it a lobby-based game because the instances aren't openworld.

This system is clearly designed to push you into the cash shop later on. After quite a long time playing as a lightbinder I still do not have the option to play as anything other than the basic three classes.
The way the ascension atlas system works has promise, but the acquisition of your obs is just stupid. "Here, go repeat these instances over and over in order to progress at all because you need the types of orbs it's dropping".

Honestly those are the only two things i care about in an mmo and theyre both very much sub-par here. Graphics are cool, but those two are the foundation of gameplay, and that's what matter most to me. This will be a definite pass at launch unless things change drastically. Right now it's a lobby game with shitty combat. I could play Dragon's Nest and get better combat out of a lobby-style game. At least they have actual quests that grant xp and not reward you with a multiplier to go farm the same damn instance over and over.

I realize this is short, but honestly when the very core of the game is this crappy I cant justify playing any more to get any other impressions.

most likely because u are a stupid kid who want to have everything given for free. Listen kid this game has alot of progression and the combat is one of the best. its called Action Combat Kid.

and also theres alot of things to do in this game i bet your just some stupid troll who log in and do 500 prestige.

anyways kid stop trolling and get a life and ajob

All you just succeeded in doing was making yourself look like an ass, if you want to defend your game then do so, but the only one acting like a "kid" here is you.

The game is a mapgrinder, and a bad one at that.

I like the combat! I did the first 5 man dungeon today, the mobs hit hard mechanics arent hard. But yeh its the first dungeon. I cant wait to try raids and harder dungeons.

Progression is a bit hard in the beginning, I spent all my points on lightbinder after that I needed lightbinder crystals so I putted my other points  in the other classes. But I should put them in the upper atlas as that is the way to other classes hehe

I just que for dungeons/pvp and go in the open world meet ppl help ppl and do quests xD and farm

  • shalissarshalissar Member UncommonPosts: 509

I am so getting tired of the massive hp pools on the bosses. At the very least they should have less hp for solo mode  dungeons. Getting through this shit as a lightbinder is a goddamn bore and a half. Up to 2.5k prestige nothing has even come close to killing me, why the hell do i have to spend like 10 minutes whittling away its hp? Is this an endurance test? Is it trying to wear me out like some tribal hunter running down its prey? Am I supposed to get so bored that I fall asleep and the boss kills me? Is this their game?

Ideal world, they'd have less hp but did more damage and dropped fewer orbs. But there's probably something that would be thrown out of whack with that kind of change.

The VO is a place holders. They are working on that for now.

Releasing with placeholder VO. Feels like some companies just don't care anymore.

Yes it is really bad,it is like the developer found every bad game design and said "I want that in my game".

LINEAR.............oh man it doesn't get anymore linear than this,i guess Bloodthorne another way over rated game had the same setup.

I agree on the dodging,it is also tied into your energy pool which is dumb because it barely works as it is ,the mobs just slide right at you like they are on auto follow, there is no realism to it whatsoever. When the mob is coming at me fast,i should be able to side dodge to avoid but none of that happening here.

Example from my personal fave FFXI,i initiate an attack on say a Goblin,he might circle around me a bit before engaging.Sometimes mobs should stop to cast or heal or whatever, nope these mini bosses just slide right at you at fast speeds.

Spamming the left mouse button is bad,and idk why but my one skill combo seems to only activate when the mob is almost dead anyhow making it a complete waste of time lol.

Bottom line is that the game is severely controlled, from the atlas to damage to weapon to movement to choice ,there is NO CHOICE.I gave the game originally a 4/10 i have no idea what i was thinking all the worst game designs packed into one.I cannot believe for one second they got feedback during testing that said this game is great...no way in hell. Then what kind of credibility does this site have for pushing this game, are they going to refund everyone's money?

You can see enough of the game play by 3500 prestige to know how most of the rest of the game plays. You'll be clueless about the followers aspect. But the majority of the game play is what you see now. Playing and replaying various instances at various difficulties against bosses with 10 lives with occasional upgrades and additions to skills.

The Ascension atlas is similar to Path of Exile. It is also how you unlock all other classes other than the starter classes. Each Class Atlas requires about 15,000-20,000 prestige to complete. About 1/4 of the way to that completion you will gain access to the Ascension Atlas where you can see the entirety of the prestige available.

Look at the amount of time and running the same instances over and over in order to get 3500 Prestige. Then look at the Ascension Atlas and see how much more Prestige you would need to earn in order to fill it entirely. The amount of Prestige needed to fill the Ascension Atlas will be several hundred thousand Prestige.

If you love grinding then this game is for you. Otherwise you might want to look elsewhere.

That is likely a fair assessment,i don't remember Phantasy Star but do know i did not like it lol. This game has the feel of a console game not a PC game,if not for possibly a lot of players in same instance, this could even be a free browser game.

Your either on small linear pathways or some module island, nothing has an open ended feel to it,more like a single player game with login. You can attack the same mini bosses or mobs sometimes but most of the time you are instance solo.

imagine i bought the game and struggled to get one hour in both times i played, now i have lost all interest.

FEEDBACK...where?I refuse to believe they got feedback telling them this game was good. However seeing how they handled their forums,i can see now why, anyone that did not come on and say GREAT GAME,got banned for a loose phrase called "creating a negative community"..ROFLMAO you can apply that phrase anytime you want,it just proves how shallow they are in listening or NOT listening.
