I absolutely do NOT wait for WoW's next expansion.

I quit at the end of Wotlk and returned to WoD. Even though i had not played in 5+ years, i got bored within the 30 days of my sub. I went back to the game hoping for a long and immersive journey, with so much content to explore after all the time -instead i got blasted through the zones and levels at lightspeed, outleveling everything in a flash, only to sit bored in a garrison two weeks after i returned.

Streamlining and dumbing down of everything killed the game that once was a wonderful experience. This is not the WoW i left at Wotlk plus 5 years of improvement. Blizzard turned it into an abomination that has lost it's identity, they made WoW a mmorpg to attract people that usually wouldn't play a mmorpg. No expansion will ever get me back to this.

Frankly I'm kinda tired of this ride. I play it through an expansion, everything is gear centric and raid centric, everything screams "get the gear! get the gear!" and then... another content patch, another expansion, making all your achievements obsolete. I'm waiting for some meaningful horizontal progression, something that lasts.

I don't recall where I heard this from, but I hear that next exp was to be underground, anyone hear anything about this?

Wow is refriggentarded!!!  They had an awesome game back in early 2009, until they decided to remove "twinking"  what idiotards!!!!  Don't they realize that killing 10 people 7 times in 15 minutes is what brings a severely high amount of joy to a joyless life if an average experienced wow player.  The just HAD to curb to the unfair and "unequal" complaints from the inexperienced and impatient youth who had an attention span of 3 minutes at best.  In the real world life is not equal at all, rich people have the best advantage and those with knowledge empower themselves.  Why should MMORPG's disregard this simple rule of the jungle just for the sake of pleasing the minority of uncommitted and impatient youngsters so that their gaming experience would feel more balanced.  Now Wow is basically dead, well no surprise there since the core foundation has been disenfranchised from subscribing due to stupid changes in the wrong direction.

I think that was a fan concept expansion. Though a really cool one.

Well, a Wow 2 is the only way I can think of that would get the IP over 12M players again. Then again, assuming that a MMO can just get more players and more players forever is far beyond optimistic, it is impressive enough with 7M after 11 years.

Knowing Blizzard we will see Wow 2 sooner or later though, they have a habit of making sequels to popular games. The question is more when, my guess would somewhere between 2020 and 2025. They have also the habit of taking their time with the sequels, just look on D3.

Whatever they do, I hope they have finally learned a couple of lessons:

    1. Only ever add content to the game and never take away from what came before(that's what creating new worlds/continents are for. (those that initially bought into the game bought it for what it had at that time and likely have little interest in playing something else, unless it's in the form of an expansion which they will then also buy).

    2. When making expansions, do not gate the new content making it only available to the top 5?% of your subscribers and keeping it from the millions of other players that you expect/want to buy it.   Why in the world would a level 50 player who doesn't race to endgame, let alone a new player barely leaving the beginner zones, want to pay for an expansion they won't see for at least another 40-50 levels?!

Yes, I'm looking at everything since Cata and then they added garrisons on top of it all, something that should have been available to everyone as a form of housing(one of the biggest hooks for subs games ever made) and not just easy mode gathering nodes for the highest level players who not only needed them least but also are looking for more not less gameplay.  IMO.

Yeah i dont understand either. They give so little for so much money. They provide less content than some F2P games.

Its shocking how bad value for money this game has actually become.  BLizzard has become a highly average studio.

Even Diablo 3. Such a small and mediocre game compared to Torchlight2. And Blizzard is supposed to be a big AAA dev.

Where does all this money go to ?  Not in their future games, looking at quality of HOTS and D3. Not in WoW for sure.

I dont think they have that much time !If blizzard think they can bullshit us more and more, the will loose most of the people playng wow.Look what ESO did for just 1 year(when the game commed out i was like meh this will sux and i was right, but 1 year latter i purchased ESO and im enjoying it for the last 5 months, that is way more than i enjoyied any wow expansion after wotlk). So imho if blizzard keep doing what they are doing, someone else will pick up and probably keep the gamers like me that left!

Waiting to cash in on nostalgia is not a bad idea actually. If you just quit the game you are less likely to just pick up the sequel then for something you havn't played for years.

Sure, Blizz wont have those players constantly but I think Wow 2 would get more players if it released in 2022 then 2016.

I'm fairly confident the 500 million Activision spent on Destiny came out of WoW subscriptions.

The average for a WoW expansion is every two years. So if DRaenor released in 2014, it's safe to say that the next one will not be released until 2016. People need to also realize that Blizzard has Diablo, Starcraft, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and Overwatch to keep on as well. The only problem I see with Blizzard is that they refuse to really listen to their fan base. They only seem to do what they think is best. While that is the mentality of business, it's not so for gaming as a genre. Other companies who offer free to play games listen to their fan base and they offer a decent compromise to keep their players interested. They also do this in a relatively time sensitive manner. In offering this they ensure their fans are hooked. Blizzard takes eons to even incorporate a small change that could benefit everyone. While Blizzard is run by some of the more seasoned game execs and employees, they need to catch up with the times. Small patches and slow releases aren't going to win people over. This isn't 1999. This is 2015. An age where technology has caused people to be impatient. The greatest among them, the gamer. Blizzard needs to get over their old grandpa style model and move into the new age. Taking some pointers from other companies isn't going to make you bad or tainted, Blizz. Besides, those companies have taken pointers from you and added them to their games. The difference? They do it quicker and with more style than you. Take notes Blizz. Take notes.

Oh right. Good point. Nice to know where my money i spend on this game i once loved went. -.-

Into a highly over hyped average shooter, milking machine. And this when WoW players were going  a year with ZERO content updates.

God am i dissapointed at Blizz.

And for some reason I don't like FFXIV and I'm subbed. I'm open to it being me not playing long enough (I haven't gotten past level 7 or 8). I can't deal with the strict multi classing. I like being an archer but to become bard I have to level a dragoon or whatever? I don't want to waste my time doing that. I'd much prefer to be able to select the class I want.

Don't look at it like that. Level Jobs, not classes. Then when you have a bunch of them at Lvl 30, find the ones you like best and main it. When you get sick of it, play another as an alt. You'll eventually get both to lvl 50/60 and can switch off whenever you feel.

Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

It was a planned investment of $500M over time, not necessarily expenditure. And given that  Destiny has sold between 16M and 20M copies + DLC there should have been lots of money to spend on the WoW patch.

I am sure you are not one of those who has paid WoW c. $360 for 6.2 however - 6.2 being the first new content for nearly two years not part of an xpac.  (Players had to buy WoD of course on top of the sub).

And therefore you will have helped drive the novel concept in Destiny: no new content no new money.

At least I assume you haven't supported WoW's milking policies ....

Maybe the next patch will offer a reduction to 1 set of talents per class and 1 health per level!  So level 100s will have 100 hp!

    :D

WoW 2 certainly isn't in the near term plan.

Blizzard's recent policy seems to have centred around making WoW accessible to new markets e.g. new language support, the deal with Asiasoft.

Which means that todays population is drawn from more countries than even 2 or 3 years ago. Without those new countries the sub number would be even lower. Full credit to Blizzard for leveraging their investment though.

I got WoD, used one of my 60 day gametime cards (got 4 left to use yet). After that time had lapsed i stopped playing (more or less had done everything and got decnt(ish epic gear all LFR stuff), just couldnt get into any non LFR raids (except world boss's ohh i mean world boss) the bird one as the other 2 were shunned.

Thought after that time had ended and i needed to renew my subscription that it wasnt worth it.

Last week i got a 7 day come check out the new update and tenaan jungle, took teh 7 days free play, played all of 2 hrs, couldnt be bothered much after that. That time ran out and i played on the last couple of hrs.

Its not because the patch/expansions are long time in comming, its just that its, well, boring, dull and everytime somethign is done the games toned down.

  • ThupliThupli Member RarePosts: 1,318
The dungeon scaling feature has me intrigued, but I won't be subbing to wow again. I could see btp or sub if they offered older expansion servers.

My prediction is that they will break tradition and announce a new expansion at Gamescom and then do the big PR push and reveal new details during Blizzcon. Expac CBT will begin after the first of the year and be released in June.

    *takes off swami hat*

Then they are resigned to their game continuing to lose subs at an alarming rate.

There is a thread on the US battle net forums: Things 6.2 players never say. Part 1.

Many of the comments are hilarious.

And then you realise that these are posts from people who will be counted in the sub number that Blizzard announce on 4th Aug. They haven't left ... yet.
