hi all,

Just started playing this game and I'm a total noob but i really like how this game works, but i dislike the Art/ Animation Style.. not my cup of tea.

Are there any Eastern style game that mirrors ESO's cyrodill pvp ? something akin to ESO mechanics  but graphics that look like bless online /Asker Online/ black desert/FF14?

that would be almost perfect for me.

not here to bash , just want to know thanks :)

You may want to follow CAMELOT UNCHAINED....for a future game.

You may want to try DARK AGE OF CAMELOT....they have a full feature free trial period of 14 days.

But those games do not have the graphics/feel that the OP is looking for which is the very reason for the thread. In fact they are probably almost the exact opposite of what he is looking for in terms of artstyle/animation.

Aion is quest driven like ESO and then there's a huge PvP area where you can fly. It's the closest eastern game to ESO in terms of quests to level up and then large area to PvP in.

yes you are correct, indie games would be even less compelling as far as the asthetics im looking for,

trying to delete this double post and not sure how

I've tried Aion in terms of combat its not like ESO at all.. eso has a reticle to aim and action based, aion is your typical point and click

Black Desert sounds like your cup of tea. I haven't played it myself, but it sounds similar. There's also TERA where the combat is literally identical to ESO but the quests can be a little grindy and it lacks the epic PvP.

I really do like gw2 aesthetics but I wouldn't call it Asian theme or style, its a rare western game where I actually love how it looks.

On paper GW2 sounds like it would be awesome and I did enjoy it, love the exploration puzzles which no other game seems to have.

The combat isn't true action its still a point and click when you get down to it with a few action style elements thrown in... but the thing that I could not get over is the limited and un customizable skill bar

I hated being tied to skills that I absolutely hated.... it was a deal breaker for me

basically what the game im looking for has

-cyrodill World VS world PVP zone

    - true aiming action based combat

    - Korean style aesthetics

sounds like I just want ESO with a Korean art style skin over it LOL

Blade and soul looks cool but the pvp is weird, you only fight people who have pvp gear on? and its not really cyrodiil type, black dessert is mostly a guild vs guild thing now according to steparu

Tera? Isn't there an area (not the battlegrounds) where people can pvp based on their faction? This was added after I stopped playing in earnest so I'm not clear on how their faction pvp works.

    GW2, Tera, Wildstar

GW2 has a weapon switch mechanism as ESO
Wildstar has a similar window of opportunity mechanism to stunt and do extra damage. In ESO is block, in Wildstar is intErrupt.

All 3 have action combat, with small differences between them. Tera is free and Wildstar has a trial.

Currently Wildstar PvP under 50 is dead.

GW2 has a WvW with huge battles, and use their player scale tech to bump everyone to lvl 80 for the PvP matches.
  • NightHaveNNightHaveN Member UncommonPosts: 1,051
But Wildstar has an open PvP server that ESO and GW2 lacks and is heading to F2P at some point before year's end.

I already stated why gw2 doesn't fit what im looking for... locked abilities by weapon mostly and to me its not action based as ESO is, it still has major auto homing missles which I hate

Tera is just a big battle grounds not huge land just for pvp like CYRODILL with quest inside of it

Thanks for everyones input but please stop suggesting western games.. I would like ESO with Eastern style Aesthetics

Lol... if you start to dissect and analyse them, you'll soon realize there isn't a clone of the ESO package or of anything even remotely like it in the West or the East

If you're looking for Eastern styles art and graphics, you need to add the over-the-top FX, animations and babes in high-heels with steel bikinis and you don't get just that, you get the whole package that includes inane stories and chocobos.... you can't have one without the other.

And yes, I'm not a fan of Asian MMOs or RPGS :)

yeah don't really care if you like it or not, and chocobos are awesome

I didnt' want to start a debate about east vs west,  I could say the same about western mmos with ugly graphics and horrible animation with unispiring boring character design and spell affects. but to each its own (theres a reason they revamped the animation), the animal races just look like human bodies with a photoshop cat head on it rather then animal badass porportions. looks too weird

I really like how BLessonline looks, the beast characters look intimidating and big porportions not a scrawny human. And if your going to bitch about bikini armor then I guess your just a typical male feminist who whines a lot about everything. can't handle a little skin so he whines, guess what females like it too!

Yes ESO seems really unique in gamplay and doesn't seem to be a copy from the east or west.. but ill just keep playing ESO

At least you have some taste :)

I prefer good ole made in the USA MMOs (and I'm not even American lol)... UO, EQ, AC, DAoC, etc. established a Western tradition of MMOs that draws upon our heavily Tolkien influenced, western fantasy culture. I'm just more comfortable with that than what I see in many Asian MMOs: an off-kilter copied attempt to duplicate the Western fantasy game culture.

Which is a pity... it's not like they don't have their own, very rich fantasy culture to draw upon. They should be focusing on  martial artists with supernatural powers and mystic monks rather than just (badly) copying our fantasy crap to cash in. They result. IMHO, on second-rate. not-quite-right stories and quests.

As to soft core porn, naked women, etc.... I have no problem at all with them lol. I enjoy looking at them just as much as any one else. But I just have to wonder WTF they're doing in MMOs instead of being over there in the porn and "naughty comic" worlds. Including titilation in MMOs makes as much sense to me as adding skateboards and racing cars to Archeage... they both come courtesy of corporate mindset that doesn't take MMOs seriously and just want to package shit that will sell together to attract more pre and post pubescent little boys and their parents wallet.

The end result of that greedy, no-class game design? Scarlet Blade, League of Angels, etc. But at  least those titles are being honest in what they're selling and why. They're selling pixel porn to horny little boys in an MMO medium instead of the typical Hentai/Manga delivery.

frank frazetta would roll over in his grave if he knew what people are bitching about these days, his art would be ripped apart from people like you

I don't think they draw on Tolkien fantasy to cash in, its because they are into it, you ever thought of that? Also they are making rich Asian theme fantasies , look at blade and soul, age of wushu theres tons of potential with martial arts theme

stop acting like all of them are crap, tera is doing just fine in the western markets, and if we left it up to the west to only make fantasy games the art would be abysmal , the games you mention are dated , the best triple AAA western game looks as good as a 5 year old Korean game.  west is obsessed with realism to the point of hideous characters and butch women.

I bet you think blizzard bastardized the fantasy theme too don't you, nobody says your force to play it, stick to your bland games.. you are what people call an Elitest.

and you act like the West doesn't have its faults, all of them copy the wow model for a decade, clone after clone trying to get that buck.. and now what is the state of western mmo? a bunch of even uglier indie games from kickstarters ( although crowfall looks awesome like the art style)

    eqnext is probably dead too

Blade and Soul and Wushu are the exceptions - and damn good exceptions that draw on  the lore they know bets and are god at.

But you're here looking for a very western fantasy game in an eastern skin and I'm telling you that they don't exist unless you're willing to take all the other shit that goes along with it.

You want a heavy armored. 2-HD sword wielding female warrior? Sorry to break it to you bud but Brienne of Tarth is what you get, not this:

if that picture is suppose to be insulting it isn't, I don't see any issue here, and shes pretty

I think you misunderstand what im asking for, I want ESO style mechanics, and most importantly how Cryodiil works,

when I say eastern I meant their art style, the theme doesn't have to be western fantasy, or Asian fantasy, it could be any theme or scifi I don't care,

I just like the action fps style ESO has along with the world vs world,  doing a  little bit of research I think bless online is doing world vs world and will have a robust PVP action, but who knows how long it will take to get here

Why would it be insulting? It's just laughably unrealistic (and yes, she is pretty.)

The ESO PVP mechanics are unique and actually, not everyone's cup of tea, but definitely my style of PVP. It has lots of room for intelligebt strategy and tactics to be a big part of it as opposed to the quickie scenario 5v5 or even 20v20 some prefer.

There haven't been many games with that kind of PVP: DAoC, WAR, GW2 and the upcoming CU and maybe or two others I'm forgetting.

And BTW, I'm with you insofar as butt-ugly graphics in indy games go: they annoy me too and I look for more polished graphics. But graphics and art style are two different things and in the later I look for realism not silliness.

look how powerful he looks and bigger then a human, has a beastly presence

looks like a panters head was photoshoped onto a normal human body, nothing about it seems beaslty when all their manerisms are human

you act like realism is the only option in games, do you bitch at supermario for not being hyper realistic where he can only jump 2 feet high? for the sake of realism?

Art style is subjective, to me if ESO looked like the cinematic trailerse it would be sick, but in reality it looks nothing like that and when games strive for realism and fall short it just looks bad and has the uncanny valley look

theres a reason why there are so many beauty enchancement mods in skyrim because the game was so dam ugly.. just like there was a reason why ESO had to revamp all the animation

Yeh they did that to keep their in game assets (character models, animations, armor skins, etc) down to the very minimum.  If they went with separate character models and animations for the different races it would have looked extremely baddass and immersive, but their performance would have been reduced and they would have had to cut more corners.  It's a balance/compromise that had to be made.  By no means do you have to accept it and I understand exactly what you are saying.

I'm not too adept at Asian games but the few that I played, though they looked great, their overall mechanics gave me the sense that there wasn't to much going on "under the hood" other than combat stat calculations. Which would explain why Asian games can get away with more higher detailed looks than most Western games. That of course is just opinion.
