I would advise to check out the rating on their first game that they burned us all on, Legends of Dawn. Very Negative Steam rating and 29/100 Metacritic, for what it is worth it is still mostly unplayable to this day. Be careful.
Wow, even some of the worst games on Steam don't have a "Very Negative" rating, I usually double guess games even if they have a "Mixed" rating on Steam as i've found Steam ratings to usually be pretty accurate. Something amiss there for sure, huge red flag no doubt.

I've just started the game. Doesn't seem like diablo at all. There is no jumping however.
But I'm not getting a diablo vibe.
I would be interested in hearing your impressions after you've played a bit. Performance, framerate, combat, character build, zones, immersion, etc. Whatever you notice good and bad would be nice.
Sure!
I ended up going out last night so didn't have a lot of "hands on".
At the moment I can say that the game "looks ok" though the animations for your character leave a bit to be desired.
Combat seems a bit more like "spam attack button" at the moment. I'm not saying this is good or bad just "is". The tutorial is decent in that you get off at an island and wander around. Everything that is being "tutored" has a glowing flag over it.
So for instance, you walk up to a crate and there is the slim flag marker with information. You open the crate and take what's inside and can use that info.
The info for one crate was that opening some objects requires these stones that have markings. You need to place the stones and connect over glowing areas in order to open whatever it is.
One thing that surprised me was that I walked into the water and "plummeted" down like it was just air. I hit the bottom and just drowned. Unless I'm missing something, there doesn't seem to be swimming in the game yet, or I need to learn it as a skill or there must be a button that engages swimming.
Or swimming is just not there and never will be.
So far I"m intrigued as I enjoy exploring and the small island offers that. More later.
edit: one more thing, the camera follows behind your character but though one can zoom in and out there doesn't seem to be a way to alter the angle. So if you are going down a slope or even up a slope, raising the camera to look "up" doesn't seem possible. I'm assuming that will be changed.

I thought I had seen something about "action combat".
In truth, clicking the left mouse button let's you attack. However, there doesn't seem to be any way to dodge or move out of the way of ranged attacks. After watching a monster's ranged attack curve and swerve to hit me I was convinced of that.
"tab" is supposed to target the nearest monster but mine only worked once.
It seems that there is no way to "attack first". I can click on a monster and move to the area I clicked but actually targeting the monster first and attacking seems a no go. This must be a bug. I can only attack after I'm attacked first.
I spent one battle trying to "attack click" on a monster only for my character to just keep moving around the monster while I was being attacked. That was frustrating.
I spent a good amount of time trying to find "the dockmaster" as the captain tells you that you need to go into a barracks and only the dockmaster has the key. after wandering around the area trying to find his body (or him) I had to go online and get the clue that unless you notice some books (and container) on a table and read both of him, the quest doesn't proceed.
I realize that's a spoiler but "meh" you'll just keep running around wondering if it's a bug or not. The lesson there is to sweep your cursor everywhere to see what can be interacted with.
Now, someone might say this is the "non hand holding" but when you get off of the tutorial island and accept your first task/quest the map opens with a big red dotted line and "x" showing you where to go.
Also, be prepared to read walls of texts as that is how you will learn of quests and the world. In truth, I went over one of the walls of text and realized that there was a shorter way of saying what should have been said.
There are monsters wandering everywhere like a traditional mmo. This isnt' necessarily bad but with the issues I'm having engaging them it makes me not want to continue at the moment.
Of course this is not a finished projuct so I'm hoping some of these things will be fixed.
I'll continue later but now going to play some witcher 3.

That will probably not change. That was one of my gripes about the camera work in Legends of Dawn. It was never fixed. They made an adjustment to allow you zoom out more, but not enough to matter. Seeing that these games run on the same engine I would assume it is there to stay.

Anyone played Legends of Dawn? Just wondering how similar or not Wave of Darkness might be?
