gimme a call when they reached some real numbers over time :P
"I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"
They sold 4 mill. across all platforms, consoles leading the pack and if steamspy is to believe, there´re only 600k playing W3 on PC versus the 2.5mill. of GTA5 players (PC). The game is close to 1 month old already ...

Yes, but GOG would be huge for W3 as well since CDPR owns it and it's significantly cheaper on there too. GTA, on the other hand, isn't even listed on GOG as far as I could tell. Not saying it's outsold GTA, but saying steam numbers may not be representative.

Witcher 3 is also sold on Origin and Uplay Shop, plus retail copies.
Those numbers matter nothing since we have no way of knowing how large proportion of games have been purchased from sources other than Steam.
"Why would I want to loose a religion upon my people? Religions wreck from within - Empires and individuals alike! It's all the same." - God Emperor of Dune
Sorry, but those numbers are a bit meaningless in this case. If you could add up GOG (most likely one of the leading purchase sources of the game), Origin, and all other sources from which the game can be bought, then your post would be more credible.
That is actually not too shabby. Both titles were highly anticipated, though GTA probably had a larger fan base. Now, when The Witcher sells somewhere in the vicinity of 45 Million copies as GTA V has, we can make the thread title a little more than just click bait.
I'm pretty sure Diablo 3 sold much faster then both.

Lies, damned lies, and statistics:
GTA V sold those 2.6 million units in United Kingdom. OP is comparing that number to Witcher's worldwide sales.
whatever the case maybe cd projekt is super happy about its success.
its well deserved.
It's not the fastest selling in the history of PC. Skyrim sold 7 million in 1 single week.

Absolutely right
"Possibly we humans can exist without actually having to fight. But many of us have chosen to fight. For what reason? To protect something? Protect what? Ourselves? The future? If we kill people to protect ourselves and this future, then what sort of future is it, and what will we have become? There is no future for those who have died. And what of those who did the killing? Is happiness to be found in a future that is grasped with blood stained hands? Is that the truth?"
I watched my roommate play and I don't think you could pay me to play it. The movement looks absolutely unruly and I need to have total control of my character in order to not be frustrated.
Maybe try and play the game yourself?
I keep reading the issue's about movement and yes have seen at a friend of mine it rather annoying till the time I said to him perhaps lower your settings. since his movement seems to be working allot better for him.
I myself do not have any issue with movement as it seems to be a little more realistic instead of the cartoon approuch of many games and like you (goboygo) I need controle over my character. If I didn't feel controle over my character I would not play the Witcher.
As for the topic well the Witcher 3 still didn't reach the 24/hour sales numbers GTA had on release. So not sure how the Witcher outsold GTA V?
