Danish toy company LEGO recently announced that it will be releasing LEGO Worlds, an answer to the massively-popular Minecraft. Lego already sells Minecraft toy sets, so what was the thought process behind this decision? I am not so sure, and some people have cried “a little too little, too late” but I wonder about that assessment.

I never played with lego. My favorite plastic building blocks were of the unsafe choking hazard variety, though no one in my house was stupid enough to try and eat them.
Why have we never seen a freestyle building lego game? The businessmen would ask why build a virtual game that could replace our real world product?
That's why all those supper lego rpgs were about destroying ready built structures and not freestyle building.
But what do I see in the video? Use of something a kin to World Builder. When I build in MC I fill my inventory with stone brick made from cobblestone, and I place each block. I'm not saying that copy, paste, rotate, and extrude should be in game. They just shouldn't be part of the main game mechanics. If an art team wanted to build something off line, then buy an import licence from h cash shop, I would be happy with that. Level design tools have no place in a freestyle building game, if that is what this game is intended to be.

As if it could exist, without being payed for.
F2P means you get what you paid for. Pay nothing, get nothing.
Even telemarketers wouldn't think that.
It costs money to play. Therefore P2W.
Wut. Did you read your own words?
Anyway, it seems that it will have both.
This is just a warning to be cautious because this is WB Games.
They just ripped off a bunch of people with Infinite Crisis including myself by not giving refunds for a game that isn't even 4 months out of beta.

Again, this is just a warning.
Really??

No one ripped you off. You bought Founders Packs for your early access and unique skin. The Founders Pack gave you what you paid for. Fact, history and your own personal experience told you that there is a reasonable chance the game will either never release or will be in dire straits within its first year.
You chose to ignore that.
Learn from it and move on.

People have been trying to figure all markets in life coming away with no logical answers.
The truth behind gaming and what succeeds profit wise is simply timing, luck, marketing then what follows is a trend that people like to jump on bandwagon trends...the flavor of the month.
The best example to describe it all was Farmville.Nobody is going to say it did a single thing to the gaming industry,it used simplicity"nothing new",a cash shop again nothing new and technically it was as outdated as gaming goes.It simply was the first to do it and for a new platform, similar to Wow being first to take advantage of the huge increase of new mmo gamer's.
Lego was basically first in it's market and goes back to when there was little competition in that market as was Minecraft basically the first.Nobody is going to infringe on the popularity of Wow just like Lego was not going to infringe on Minecraft's legacy, they are set in stone and none of it has anything to do with quality or technical side of game development.
Bottom line is that any developer trying to infringe on a popular legacy will 99% of the time LOSE it's shirt. You want to be a huge success, create your own legacy build a game that is unique and different.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
You might want to read the thread instead of just commenting on the title because it isn't just about founders packs..
The founders packs were purchases made a long time ago but some people bought hundreds of dollars worth of crisis coins just before the launch and they weren't refunded either.
The developer shared plans for the game through 2016 making everyone believe the game was at least going to be around another year.
The $15 cost for this game is reasonable but if there's any cash shop or extra dlc's then people should know the truth about how WB Games treats their customers and be cautious with their money.
Wow, that is quite hilarious. You receive a +1, do what you want with your newly gained experience.

They will add multiplayer later
Wow. I didnt know they had founders.
What a dick move.
They just might. Lego has a large and dedicated following. They have a very large collection of blocks to potentially implement. Add in the robotic stuff they're doing with Mindstorm and you could have an interesting and successful game.

Look at all of the licenses LEGO currently has as well. There's potential that they could add in themed LEGOs from IPs like Batman, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc. Not to mention all of the traditional LEGO themes like medieval fantasy, ninjago, city, pirates, etc.
LEGO Worlds will do very well for itself, as long as they play to their strengths and get the community involved in a major way. Getting involved with Steamworks might be a good idea too, get the modding community interested in the game.
