Lineage Eternal will disappoint if...

... They forget the elements that made Lineage 1 their major money making machine: great open world + great open world pvp + politics. In the case they deliver a heavily instanced game + BGs or whatever bs that can threaten the open world health and pvp-clan war, something that still works perfectly in L1 in 2015 even being a hardcore grinder and having open world pvp-pk, L1 is doing well in an era where carebear games focused on rushing to level cap in 1 week  to live inside an instance all the long is the pattern.

It depends, what made Lineage world pvp special is that there are consequences, if you kill a random player without the player fights back, you will become a pk, if you die in pk state, you can drop your items - gear depending on the amoung of karma you have. it prevents too much random killings because there is a toll for the killer, but if you join a clan that is at war with another clan nothing can be done, it means that if you encouter a member of the enemy clan outside a town he can kill you without any risk of becoming pk.

Yeah, that was always nice about Lineage. And when you saw people with a bloody red name (not just pink :P) you knew they likely killed a few people. Of course Lineage 1 also didn't manage to last in the west, so unless you're hoping for the Korean version to do well, they might not want to copy every single aspect of the game.

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

Any update on when its supposed to go into beta in Korea? I know NC Soft said that the game will release world wide on the same day.

They plan a global beta test in late this year:

No it won't it's a different type of game.

Have you actually watched the footage of this game? This is not an open world game (edit like Lineag 1 or 2) or has anything to do with the long leveling of Lineage 1 (and I suppose to a lesser extent lineage 2). They might have battlegrounds, who knows (edit they do) , however this game is more like Diablo III in its game play (edit they say it's not only about dungeons see below)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vQDbfnBf70

I've said it before and I suppose I'm going to have to keep saying it, some "gamers" see what they want to see and not what "is".

There would be far less disappointment if they would just concentrate on what is being offered instead of coming to conclusions based upon what they want.

edit: looking through the video I will bet they have "maps" for the world and that playesr will run and do dungeons/encounters. I am betting it's instanced to the party. I could be wrong but I really think that's what this game is about.

edit 2: they say open world but let's see how that really manifests. I bet they are just large maps.

    http://steparu.com/previews/mmorpg/1650-lineage-eternal-preview-system-overview-and-highlights

-Open World MMORPG (we'll see. I'm really thinking they are using that as a buzz word much like Dragon Age Inquisition and all those articles staing it's "open world' but it's really not)
-Unique Skill Activation System (Mouse Cursor Movement)
    -Field Event Quests
    -World/Raid Bosses with 20+ Members
    -Randomized Dungeons
    -Dynamic Dungeons
-PK/PvP Available (why available? Is that servers or does it refer to a some special system or special areas?)
    -PvP Arena
    -Simplified Controls for MMORPG
    -Event Contribution Upper Right
-Items and Exp. obtainable solo (Event Quest)
-Showed Town with various players hanging out
-Mobile Game Support Using Cloud Connect Features
    -Generic Questing System Removed
-Supports 500 Players in one area (in the quote below it says 100 why the difference?)
    -New Asssassin Class

    Here are some interesting quotes:

Lineage Eternal doesn't just focus on dungeon crawling alone as it supports more than a hundred players in one area giving the game a much more of an MMORPG feel.

Why much more of an mmorpg feel as opposed to just saying "it's an mmorpg"? I think that's telling.

Just like the previous Lineage series, this version supports PvP. Here is a screenshot of the 4v4 PvP Arena in Lineage Eternal. Although it's not confirmed, players can expect some Open World PK/PvP just like the previous Lineage games.

Why "some" what does that exactly mean?

    - It's a MMO sequel to Lineage 1 (200 years after L1) and it also carries the same kind of gameplay as L1, and they also have stated that the game will support hundreds of players in a same area, while dianlo only supports 4 players.

Compare Diablo to a siege-mass pvp in L1, there is a big difference between 4 and hundreds of players together:

The problem is how much instances - BGs will influence the open world, L1 is a full open world MMO with a diablo-like camera and makes more money then their other games. LE can be ruined in the case they make it a carebear game.

Yeah I get that but I'm not saying it IS Diablo. I'm saying that from the looks of it they have made dungeons with story and game play "like" diablo III. I bet it will have large maps for the world where players can travel to dungeons. They say they are randomly generated.

I know that the first Lineage was an mmo. I question whether this is truly an mmo in the traditional sense.

edit: there are bits of info in my post above. One says 500 players in an area and one says 100. Which is it? And why an "area"? What happens if an extra 100 or 200 show up? Or can they show up? That's why I'm leaning on the idea it's a map.

That's why I opened this thread, LE will disappoint me if they deliver a full carebear game, filled with instances, arenas, and a poor open world pvp.

But it shouldn't because it's not really trying to be Lineage 1 and never was so why would you be disappointed about a game that was never trying to be the thing you wanted it to be?

    Let's break it down.

You called Lineage 1 NC Soft's "cash cow". And in truth, in South Korea, it's their most profitable game (If I'm remembering that correctly).

Here in the west they closed it up. There weren't even enough players to keep it going much like Lineage 2.

yet, a poster stated that Lineage Eternal will be released everywhere at the same time. I don't remember seeing that but let's go with it.

If they are going to make the game for not only eastern audiences but western audiences then the game is probably going to have significantly different game play than Lineage 1 (or Lineage 2 for that matter). Not long leveling, and I bet consensual pvp areas. Unless they do different servers.

Nothing about this game ever suggested that it was anything other than a game set in the Lineage universe so I don't see why you or anyone would be disappointed at this stage since they've already laid out quite a bit to suggest it's "something else".

What's disappointing is,... the anticipation of any game that  many of you hope it will bring to you.

That first time, that to feeling.

Whether it's table top, those hours spent up until til 4am in morning after your jolts, crispy tostitos in the freezer, and getting stuck with Great Britain ever fucking time. Then one night, you say to your friends "fucking you guys"... then you go all ape shit on Germany with the dice rolls going your way and with that solemn (i'm so drunk I had to fucking google that shit) look on his face.

    List goes on:

    Double Dragon II

    Acsendancy

    Master of Magic

    Battle Toodies

I wasn't a fan of pong...whatever...the list can go on.

Seriously, you guys nit fucking pick about the stupid shit about a video games, this is the best thing many of you can go...i mean do.

I'm so happy it was even invented, theeee BEST ENTERTAINMENT for me. Fuck TV.....!

I love video games, I love MMO, I love RPG,I love MMORPG. I enjoy it so much not only that i have to defend ever MMORPG that gets release, I have to defend the concept to folks who fucking think it's a complete waste of time not just for me,...for you too.

Yea,..my approach(i googles that shit too) is direct with the, fuck, the cherry on top. Overrated!

One thing I know is,... everyone is bias, and that's something you and I can agree on.

LE:TR  looks brilliant,.... subjective yes,....Here's to another great game and a failure to those who see it fit.

MMORPGs aren't easy, You're just too PRO!
