CD PROJEKT RED sounded both thrilled and relieved this week to announce that its open-world RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was done and a mere month away from launch.

"We worked so damn hard over the past three years to bring you this game,” said Adam Badowski, Head of Studio, CD PROJEKT RED. “From the corrupt nobles in Novigrad to ancient monsters lurking in deep forests, to the bustling cities, colorful ports and breathtaking vistas; all the people, all the places -- we literally spent tens of thousands of hours to turn all that into an adventure that will kick your ass and make you want to come for more.

The game's already taken home more than 200 awards, and is scheduled to launch May 19th on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

I'm tempted to buy a PS4 or Xbox One just for this game (and of course for other future titles).

I have a PS4 and kick ass PC but i'm debating on which format. The Witcher 2 was beautiful on PC and this next edition will be as well.

    Hmmm what to do.image

If you have the PC to run it (and your sig implies you do... as do I) it'll look much better and have higher FPS on PC. I also have a PS4 on my 60" screen.... it's PC W3 for me.

Going to buy a GTX 970 to play this (also comes with a free version).  My GTX 670 just isn't cutting it anymore.  It was an amazing card while it lasted :)

"The game's already taken home more than 200 awards,"

Wow really?  a game that isn't even out yet has won 200 awards?  Kinda makes those awards useless doesn't it?  Unless they were 200 of 'best game i haven't played that will likely disappoint on launch day due to the wonky combat like the first two but it has great graphics'.

If all it takes to you to say that a game is a disappointment is the combat and graphics, then RPG is not your genre.

That's how I got my copy. I didn't even realize it. I just bought the card and several days later I received an e-mail indicating "here is your copy of Witcher 3".

I am all sorts of pumped for this game. The first two were some of my best memories in gaming.

Well even though GTA 5 took so long to come to PC it still has major bugs like not being able to progress in missions which im having right now and many others on the internet.  So thats always a risk and something to think about.

I think you have to look at what those awards actually are.

It seems it has "won" praise and many "most  anticipated" or "best of show" awards.

While one may or may not value or even recognize such awards as having merit, they are awards and at least speaks to the type of thrill or excitement that this game has engendered.

Whether or not the game is actually good is another thing.

Also, I question why the combat was "wonky" in the first two? They definitely had different types of combat than other games it they worked.

Whether one liked that type of combat or not is another thing. I suspect anyone more interested in "action combat" where they can solely use their skill to attack, perform combos, block or dodge might not like how they implemented combat but that's another thing.
