Hi Guys, I comment on the "Entry Level Build $800.00" post but you guys probably did not see it. I'm looking for a build around $800-$1000. I have a 1080p monitor, a Cossair H60 CPU coolers, been a year since i last used this cooler, hopefully it still work, and a copy of window 7. This is my current build:

gpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150678

cpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116989&cm_re=intel_i5_4690-_-19-116-989-_-Product (should i get k version?)

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139040

motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130801&cm_re=MSI_motherboard-_-13-130-801-_-Product

Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231460

SSD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147372

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146149

Thermalpaste: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6922R12413&cm_re=thermal_paste-_-35-100-007-_-Product

All that set me back at $920. I'm an Intel fan so i would like to stay with intel and I want to keep everything black, but of course you know better than I do and I do want to put performance as my primary focus so I'll leave them to you. I'm not an FPS or RPG fan, I like Online gaming: guild wars 2 and dota, maybe some CS:GO, I do want to play them at max setting. I heard those game are CPU intensive, is that true? Should i cut back on GPU to get a better CPU? Is 8GB ram enough? I like the case, but i. Otice it does not have room for optical drive, I dont think i will needit, I will let you choose what best. I would like to leave some money back because I will need mouse, keyboard and speaker, they don't need to be nice, just need them to do their jobs.

Please keep my post clean, I'm here for opinion, I don't want to see any troll or any pointless argument.

Thank you very much.

SFMBE :)

    Off the cuff -

You have thermal paste listed, without a 3rd party heatsink. (EDIT -- I just saw you said you would be reusing a H60 - so ignore this part about thermal paste, but I'll leave this here just for discussion)

Almost every heat sink comes with some default paste or pad that is decent enough for most people. Unless your going for record-setting overclocks, your choice of thermal paste is pretty negligible. The difference between the top-tier diamond and copper dust stuff that costs $20-30 a tube, and mayonnaise, is like 2C.

I will say, when you buy 3rd party thermal paste, it usually comes with enough to do about a dozen applications. So if you plan on tinkering with your rig a lot, or building a lot of computers, then it's not such a waste. But if your doing a one-time thing for this one build, it's not so much worth it.

With regard to K-edition. If you have an extra $20 in your budget, I recommend it, even if you don't plan on overclocking. It gives you the option to overclock later if you decide you want to, and a moderate overclock when you find you need some extra "umph" can easily add a year or two of usefulness to a decently built rig. I think $20 is worth that option, but if your on a strict budget and that $20 is make or break on something else, then you could safely drop it and not miss it (at least at first).

I haven't actually looked at any of the components - I just noticed that.

I will need some input before ordering them, please!

I certainly wouldn't get that power supply.  It's not terrible, but it's hardly good, either.  You can get something much better for a similar price:

If you want to cut back the budget somewhere, the case is the obvious place to do it.

without looking at each component given teh current markets i found it easier to jsut buy a pre-built system

I build systems and recently bought a pre-built ex demo for about 80% of the component part costs all i needed to do was add the OS & SSD and fact was it was ready to rock the PC i bought was from overclockers so not a micky mouse company

May i suggest you do this first, for a shiny grand you shoudl be able to get a high mid to low high range gaming machine fully fitted and probably even stock overclocked and ready to use :)

The price difference between pre-built and components are so small that currently i dont see it as financially viable to do it when you get all the bonuses of pre-built like 3 year warranties /RTB etc... of course if its the building of the machine (thats usually my own reason) then all seems good but im sure you could probably get better items (only some) if you look at oem  for things like the CPU

you ask abotu K range i ask you, are you going to over clock ,and if you are, do you know what your doing, if not then dont bother :)

This post is all my opinion, but I welcome debate on anything i have put, however, personal slander / name calling belongs in game where of course you're welcome to call me names im often found lounging about in EvE online.
