General: Square Enix to Reveal New Game in 3-Day Event

UPDATE: The event starts in 5 minutes. These images, along with "Can't Kill Progress", is being shown currently. The video progressed with a hooded man in the chair screaming for help. At one point, he was electro-shocked and seems to yell "Tommy" before a pair of men come into the room and a voice on a speaker, sounding Russian or Eastern European speaks. Viewers (and the tortured guy) are being asked if they prefer Classical or Folk music. The video is continuing with the man being tortured. Check it out on the Square Enix Twitch.tv channel.

Square Enix is teasing a new game being developed by one of its Western studios and has posted a rather cryptic image on its Twitter page. The news about the title will be slowly revealed over three days in an "interactive" format. The first information about the new game is set to come to light today on Square Enix's Twitch.tv channel, though no specific time has been announced.

What we do know, which is precious little, is what is shown in this image: A rather scary looking chair, perhaps a dentist's chair (is there anything much more frightening?!) or perhaps a chair used for a prison execution and a logo in the bottom left corner "Project CKP".

We'll keep this post updated as new information is revealed. You can also keep an eye on things via the links above.

I'm not one to jump on hype-wagons, but I understand how they work and why people love them. That's all good. What I do hope, though, is that whatever they show, is almost ready to launch. If experience has taught us anything, is that building hype for a game 2+ years before it's ready, usually dies out (Cyberpunk 2077 anyone?), unless it was crowd-funded.

Please, Square Enix. You've already fallen from the top, but don't burn yourself on your way down.

I highly doubt it's an MMO though.  I mean FFXIV is still going strong and they're still working on shutting FFXI down.

But, well SE is still one of the few dev/publishers I trust (others being Valve, Blizzard and Nintendo) to put out quality products at the end of the day.

They havent been hyping Cyberpunk, all they showed was one trailer.  They have been hyping Witcher 3 though.

I hope it'll be a PC game. Square Enix has made many great RPGs. A Square Enix RPG for PCs, please!

Theory: Their new game will have so long a name, it takes 3 days to read it over live stream.

Square doesn't normally release early news unless the game is decently close to launch.

I have not liked Square's direction over the last 4 or so years, they are starting to look like every other develoepr, rushing content and cutting lots of corners.Every time i pick up one of their games ,i am disappointed for the same reason.

I'll start by stating why i loved FFXI so much ,in depth combat system rather than twitch or having to have my eyes bleed and buildings ,structures with actual working doors and insides. However since then i have seen like all other games, boring  2D structures with no insides and meaningless back drop images to create the world.

They did soo much with FFXI and on a PS2 platform no less,so when i see games on PC's that are nothing but corner cutting on design,it turns me right off.I don't own FFXV but i have watched streamers and i see that cheap corner cutting in design again,so i have sort of lost faith in Square,i definitely don't get hyped anymore until i see the product.

Maybe it's a new hitman? Absolution was in 2012 so it gave them some time to make a new one.

Seems almost guaranteed to be a Deus Ex game at this point. A guard came in the room and took off the guy's jacket... and he (the guard) had a cybernetic arm.

Kojima has been working with SE on it in secret for years.  the game is called Holy Gear Cloud!  it follows a member of Soldier as they try and take down a bi-ped mech capable of launching Mako tipped missiles from any where in the world!

Could you imagine if they did a Dues Ex MMO. Imagine the character creation that would allow for you to have various cybernetics to enhance you characters different attributes. There is so much that could be done with a  game like that in the MMO world. No classes or anything, just pure imagination and fun for all.

    Cybernetic arm.... hmmmm...

The Deus Ex franchise has been very successful for SE, and it has been quite a while since the last instalment.

    Here's hoping !

I'm guessing The Fall wasn't. What a load of utter garbage that was.

Here's hoping for a new Deus Ex game.
