I would like to see both sides on this expansion debate.

Are there any people here that DONT WANT THE PAX REVEAL TO BE AN EXPANSION?

if so, share your view point on why you don't want Anet to reveal an Expansion.

That will suck it's a buy to play expac, I know I won't play it again, however if it's a free 2 play expac, I will still dabble in and out of gw2. I bought the game when it launched , it launched as buy to play and now it might as well be a free to play game considering the cash shop, so I'm just going to give a big no to the double dipping. I hate these evolving pay models, I wish they had to commit to one or the other and they had the balls to come out and say it and stick with it.

I want more bags. Hopefully a plush version of Queen Jenna with animated boob pockets. Expansions are so 2010.

I don't care. Its going to be something new, which is good. I still enjoy the game every single day. Its fun and engaging and challenging (if you wish to challenge yourself). No matter what they announce, I'm sure its going to be something new to do.

Extend the fractals? I dig

Add more dungeons? I dig

The tanks from PvE story into WvW? I dig!!

More interesting world bosses and mechanics? (E.g. the marionette, 3 headed jungle wurm, tequatl) I dig, big time

A whole new map with hearts and vistas and PoIs and shit with new traveler achievements? I dig, big time.

A new class? I dig. People already claim that Rhytstone Brimlock will return from the mists a little bit changed.

However, I wouldn't enjoy simple addition of various skills. I like the balance of the game as it is right now. I'm thinking that more skills would ruin the balance. I like how tactical the game came be if you turn off tunnel vision (too bad its not a game setting *chuckles*)

A mix of what I said above would be great. It doesn't have to be an expansion.

I don't understand modern people. Gw2 is getting expanded every 2 weeks. And then people cry for expansion like its going to be the holy grail or something. Would you appreciate a dump labeled an expansion? I know I wouldn't. But then again I'm a realist. I don't wear pink-tinted glasses when I speak

P.S: A rhetorical question. How many expansions have ruined the base game? Don't answer that. The list is too long. And I wouldn't want something like Mists of Pandaria or NGE to happen to Guild Wars 2.

Why is it so wrong to pay for actual content? That's what you should pay for.

Nearly every game does this at some point. And indeed one of the largest criticisms of GW2 (for some time now) is that the game needs an xpac. This game is already one of the most fair games on the market (both in terms of pricing and mechanics), and yet you're gunna act all entitled of you need to spend money on a big release of new content?

I have zero real knowledge, but I'm betting on SOME sort of expansion announcement. Though a traditional boxed one is probably not what we're looking at. Rather, I'd bet on some sort of DLC type announcement.

Don't mind the naysayers. Nothing you are going to say is going to change their tunnel vision. I'm sure the expack will be available in the cash shop for say ... 2000-4000 gems, which to some players means free....just my 2 cents for people like him. They have no place in this board anyway

You're right.

Unfortunately these boards r full of people like that (and not just for GW2). And has been for years now. It just bugs me how often we (gamers) get exactly what we asked for, only to pretend after the fact that we never asked for it.

On a different note it is exciting to suspect an xpac reveal. And I hope it's the Cantha a lot of people have been speculating is coming. I only have to wonder that, if there is an xpac coming, what new classes might they add? And are they going to add more weapon types? There's a lot of potential for cool new stuff, and after experiencing some of the newer content Anet has added, it's nice to see that they are growing as a studio and starting to implement some pretty good content.

That's Arena net's business model. They don't charge you a sub but they do charge for expansions.

Just like it was in the first guild wars.

Nope I want there to be an expansion.

I also want them to add in more Humanoid Races. Especially an Elf like race. I also want to see them add in more classes especially hybrid class styles like the Dervish or whatever other things they had in GW1. I also want to see loot progression. And finally I want to see them add the ability to pick and choose which skills I put on my hotbar.

It will need all those things before I even remotely consider returning.

why the hate for the cash shop in gw2? its not like you can buy uber gear or weps and destroy the other person

how would you think about making money if they didnt have a cash shop? selling lemon-aid at a lemon-aid stand just doesnt pay the bills anymore

if it was a pay monthly model gw2 would had been buried about a year ago seening they dont keep the game updated as they should including content and fixes

i rly hope it is a expan for gw2 ..maybe a new race or some better / added storylines in the storys and something new to do in wvw or new wvw mapping..it would be great to see something new to the game to make it feel a lil more fresh

all this hype about new or the next mmo's that come out is silly..gw2 STILL looks as good or better than all of them. not to mention combat as well

the f2p model is being pumped out by all the korean / russian dev. companys because they see what kind of money they can generate off of crap games like allods n AA n hell even wow private servers have a better cash shop system lol ..their model is bad and is a money sink for most mmorpg's..maybe what we need are more dev. partners IN THE US or EURO to make a good reasonable cash shop model ..like gw2..the balance is good not to mention 90% of the stuff on gw2 cash shop is cosmetic or something that helps you craft faster / lvls faster..and even then you can get those boosters out of chests

20$ for a mmorpg that you dont need to put ANY money into is a hell of a deal..you can confidently say that you dont have to spend another dime on gw2 to max lvl pvp or get to max lvl...i know this is said with many other cash shop mmo's but they either gimp your gameplay in some way or limit your gameplay..this is not the way in gw2

all n all the cash shop pay model is bad when its done bad but in gw2 the model is done right imo and i welcome gw2 and a new expan with open arms =D

GW2 is fun the way it is now.

The thing with the cash shop is unlike F2P there is no pay to win items in it. You can buy a pick/sicle/and axe that never runs out. more bag space/char slots and other convinence items. BUT you can also obtain them from within game via gold. So as a B2P with cash shop they actually did a fairly good job on it. As for m input o nthis, i hope it is but not in the sense of level cp increese but as in new rce or class along with new areas, you know guild wars style. They kept adding new things but never increesed their cap so yea. So long as i dont have to re lvl to 80 im happy.

How so? Given you can convert your gold to cash shop currency, in a quite a fair way. Gold is easy to come by. If you are lucky to get a precursor, you'll be sitting on 1k gold just like that. You do the maths and see how many gems this is (and consequently, $$)

That is not a reason to not add content. If anything, it is all the more reason to actually add it.

I think it depends whats in the expansion and how its being offered. If its like a boxed expansion great... I mean the GW1 expansions were pretty good because it often added more classes, more skills and a bunch of new content.

I would hate to see just some new areas open up with new events and just the same rehashed gameplay. If this expansion is going to be worth it, they need to add some spice to the vanilla game too with some additional classes and skills, maybe a few new weapons.

I mean of course I'd like to see more of EVERYTHING like the standalone GW1 packages had... but I doubt we'll see anything of that magnitude.

They could seriously announce new characters, races, and weapons for purchase, instead of an expansion and I'd be happier than them announcing an expansion where its just another area of the world open.

I don't care if it is an xpac or just the steady release of the content they must have been working for the last 2 years (or NCSoft will make heads roll) as long as we see the content.

And I like my jumping puzzles as well.

If this game does not get an update thats static, IMO there will be doom in its future. Its been 2 years of fluffy updates that poof. Its like a steady flow up cup cakes when after a while all you want is a stake.
