$1000.00 gaming build help

Hey folks, was hoping someone here could suggest me parts for a $1000.00 build for gaming. Mostly MMOs, with the occasional FPS. Will need a copy of windows included in the build, but other than that whatever will give the most bang for the buck. No brand loyalty here, so feel free to suggest anything that you feel will give a nice solid build in the end.
As always I appreciate the help/suggestions. This is ready to buy this week.

That comes to $1051, including shipping, and before $55 in rebates, for $996 after rebate. Fitting a Core i5-4690K, AMD's top of the line video card, and a good 240 GB SSD all inside of a sub-$1000 budget that includes an OS is one of the better builds I've found, so don't wait too long.

If you want to heat your room at the same time you game, get the 290x.
If you want blazing fast performance cold and cheap then gtx 970
this is a review post from a web site "I had some weird lag spikes with the 290. And the card has some bugs. I guess they failed btw this thing gets extrem hot. It isn't acceptable without watercooling."
I have GIGABYTE GTX 970 Gaming 1 max temperature 58 c at the moment with 900 series release I doubt is smart to buy anything else than gtx 970 980 plus you will save a lot on power consumption with this card
my last gtx 760 was geting to 85+ so I decided I will never buy such crap

Thanks for the feedback, I'm not sure if I would be able to get a gtx970 within my budget, I've read some reviews of it where people have no issues with the 290x so maybe that individual had a bad card?

A Radeon R9 290X is a substantially faster card than a GeForce GTX 970, but it also uses considerably more power. Most people would rather have the extra performance, but if you wouldn't, that's up to you.
The reference R9 290X that was reviewed at launch had an inadequate cooler. But that's only a problem if you buy the reference card; the one I linked has Asus' Direct CU II cooler, which is much better than the reference cooler. It will be fine on temperatures unless you do something stupid to fry it, such as blocking the case air vents.

IS there anyone around who has the Antec GX500 case that Quiz linked? I was reading up on it last night and saw a lot of comments on different sites where people were saying that there isn't anywhere to put a SSD in the case and I would need to purchase a bracket to make it mount in the case. Can anyone confirm this for me?
I just don't want to buy the case and be unable to get the SSD hooked up in there, I've used Antec in the past and never had any issues but just haven't heard much of this case in particular.

It has a 2.5" SSD mounting bracket on top of the hard drive cage. The case launched less than a year ago, so it would have been a serious blunder if Antec hadn't considered mounting an SSD.
Even if a case didn't have a place to mount an SSD, you could stick it wherever and it would be fine. SSDs aren't sensitive to movement. When I replaced my SSD a little over a year ago so that I had a new SSD and an old one but only one mounting bracket, I just set one on top of the other and it was fine. After a couple weeks (once I was satisfied that everything was working properly with the new SSD and all data had been copied over), I removed the old SSD.
Also, SSDs can be mounted in standard HDD cages using a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter - many SSDs come with one, and they are only like $5 if it doesn't. Ones made for SSDs can often slot 2 SSDs in a single bracket. A lot of times it may be preferable to put it in the HDD cage anyway due to cable management.
And if nothing else, there's always duct tape. Most case "SSD Mounting" is just 4 screw holes that happen to fit the standard 2.5" SATA form factor thrown in underneath something else - so they don't have to majorly change the design but can still put the "SSD Mounting" bulletpoint on the box.
SSD mounting is probably the least important aspect of any case, and the easiest thing to overcome/mod/work around if it's not there.
So my deposit didn't go into the bank when I had planned on it and I was unable to get the parts picked up in time before the sales...Very bummed out over that. It looks like some of the stuff like the SSD is now sold out, or the deals/discounts have expired.
I just wanted to check if I should go ahead and buy the stuff without sales and just look for another SSD, or if anyone would be willing to put together another build for me? I am good to go, money in hand and ready to order today; so your work won't be for nothing this time. I apologize for wasting your time with the previous build Quiz, but I do appreciate the time anyone puts in to helping me out here!

I just recently ordered a new PC myself and screwed myself over with sales cause I didn't buy before 1-1-15, so I feel your pain. Take a look at the thread that I put up earlier this month that has been quite active with all sorts of posters as well as quiz and ridge. Lot of good suggestions in there and a lot of debate on items so you can get a good look. Although it is a bit of a read but worth your time. It helped me that's for sure.

The Radeon R9 290 in one of the combos went up in price, so don't get that combo. The R9 290X combo is still the same price as before, as are the other things in my original build.
So as you can see, prices change fast. I think New Egg gets a large fraction of their profit from people seeing that something was a good deal weeks or months ago, and then buying it later after prices have gone up.
The SSD (240 GB Crucial M500 for $80) shows as back in stock, so grab that one even if you're going to dither over something else.
