I remember writing posts on the ESO forums three weeks after release, about how Veteran Levels were the worst thing I have ever done in a MMO. Man I got blasted back then, but really, they are horrible. How many people quit just because of them. Has to be a lot.
Menacer
I had quite partly because of that. Watched the guild I was in evaporate partially to the differences we were in these leveling stages and being unable to group with each other very well, not actually progress in Cyrodiil where I think many of us would have preferred. So far, sounds like they want that to be a viable way to earn champion points, so I'm in on that.
It was one of many reasons. I also found the combat great, when played as what I thought you were supposed to with reactively blocking, maybe dodging and breaking CC; but turned out to be just hold block, spam AOEs, generate ultimate as quickly as possible and keep immovable up as well as some other sort of defense bubble going.. That too seems like it will be minimized a bit.
Another part was the stick and dress dominance that went with this last part. Soft caps being removed and making armor matter also makes me more interested, so update 6 from my perspective will be righting a lot of wrongs. Justice system will be a cherry on top.
So to people saying the bugs are fixed and the game is now awesome, has grouping/phasing issues been fixed? No more broken skill trees?

All games have bugs, what people are saying is that compared to the opening month, bugs is something that no longer has a negative impact on general play - people are enjoying ESO for what it is, and looking forward to something new to the genre in 1.6
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

What exactly is "new to the genre?" Nothing I've seen in the update is something that at least one other game hasn't done to some extent.
While the justice system is a nice feature it isn't new to the genre. SWG had player bounties the moment Jedi was put in to the game. If a Jedi player was spotted by an NPC he had a bounty put on his head and if he was killed by a bounty hunter he had massive XP deducted from him.
Having said that I am glad to see the feature return to MMOs because it really does affect the world environment on a massive scale. Just be ready for a massive outcry from pve players who like to do whatever they want in game without any real consequences.
Originally posted by Bladestrom Do you play the game? As far as I'm aware the majority of issues were fixed very quickly, I've certainly seen no issues or bugs and I'm about 60 hours in.
The patch notes say otherwise.
"Praise" Zenimax by all means for adding features but don't ignore the fact that a "non-trivial" part of this patch (8 months on) consists of further bug fixes; plus changes to "systems" they decided were "not well received". Don't "praise" the bug fixes!
And I wouldn't blame anyone for waiting for the console release. They need a good console launch. The PC version was released "ready or not".

There are things to complain about, bugs now a days just aren't one. That's why the person you quoted asked if you played.
aoe cap cmon its not desing fault humans running in blob and get wiped because 5 man group
( i love much do things like above in aliance vs aliance , people still dont know who play this game after all)
In fact, they are making changes to the aoecap in the direction it was at first (they are widening the aoecap greatly again). So, even if its not as uncapped as it was at first, it seems game is to get back to its roots, where a premade group could wipe half a zerg with aoes if they knew what they were doing.
ESO started as an MMO without endgame. Then they rushed and added some sort of end game (VET levels) and now they are redesigning it. And not even one year has passed. Something similar has happened with FFXIV RR, but Square decided to do it properly, while ZOS is trying to restart their game while it's still alive.
That's why they decided to promote this CP system as a system that will prevent differences between players. It will not. They are forcing all players at Vet to start at the same amount of CPs, but a week after that, differences will appear. Some people simply play more and thus will be earning their CPs faster.
1.6 will probably bring new and returning players to ESO, but it will also loose a lot of current players as a result of their broken promise about conversion of XP into CP (a lie to many), their refusal to comment on CP system and their desire to forcibly level players.

No, the end game did not change because of vet levels. The leveling experience did though. The vet levels were added because a huge number of people were upset at having to roll an alt to see the other zones. ZOS heard them and made a solution.
The moral of the story is whiny pver's becarful what you ask for!

Not a very huge number of people complained. The people who only played with one character complained, so they said. Then Zeni found out a lot of people played with alts and didn't want to repeat the exact same content again with just the difficulty levels boosted. So a lot of people just stopped playing at V1, played alts to 50, or just left the game. Unable or unwilling to find a workable tweek, they decide on a total revamp.
If it was me I would have opened the game up to player created content. That they have final approval over. Constant new content can be added to the game and this fits in with Elder Scrolls history of modding.

This may get me to come back. Loved the concept of ESO but the combat and UI was so bad I couldn't keep at it.
Also, any word on the console version or is it gone the way of Age of Conan for XBox?
Expect some announcement very early in the new year. Late spring / early summer is my guess... once they work-out the kinks off Update 6 and feel comfortable enough with the Champion System to launch on the consoles without Veteran Ranks.

Best Buy, Target, and Game Stop have started taking pre-orders for the console versions with no set delivery dates. Except one store has a date of 12/31/2015, if I remember correctly.

I don't think they will launch on consoles without having fully implemented Champion & Justice systems and the Imperial City, which may not be until 1.8.
Sounds great ,glad I came back few days ago, have a VR4 toon, but I'll hold off with him untill the update goes live, gonna work with my DK and see if I can manage to get him up to VR1 before the update.
