I always preferred DDO over the original GW. It had some really fun adventures, with interesting puzzles and traps. You also had to work as a team, with roles you generally don't find in other MMO's (mainly someone to take care of the traps beyond the classic holy trinity).

And you are not the only one! I am glad to see it is still hanging on... I still haven't found a game quite like it in terms of party co-op...

    Go DDO! :)

Since Wow isn't even trouncing LotRO (at 43 to 56 atm)  which has got to have, what, 1/50th or less in terms of  subscribers, not so sure WoW is a lock here.

I'm an avid GW2 player and I hate WoW, but nothing can beat WoW when you look objectively and look at the features of each game.

I don't think many people care about quality when voting. It is more of a popularity-contest and GW2/WoW are both so simliar in many ways when it comes to their popularity. They are both huge titles with huge fan-followings and are both very successful commercially. They also happen to possibly be the two most hated and yet successful titles in the western MMO industry. WoW on the other hand feels like the big brother of GW2. It is apparently more popular, have had far more success and it is, at the end of the day, the better game overall.

Hope TSW will win. It is such a beautiful game.

I don't know how TESO got this far. It's one of the worst games of 2014, especially considering the name it was supposed to live up to.

At least DDO is losing to EVE so some faith is restored in all of you.

WoW won't win, simply because haters gonna hate.  It should win, since it's still number 1 by a very very very very large margin in just about every category you judge success by lol.

It had a rocky launch and a rough first few months, to be sure, but it's maturing into a really great game with a wonderful community. I'm likely to stick around for years to come.

It's your opinion that many people apparently don't share.

I mean is there any doubt that WoW won't win?

If its just by how many people vote for the MMO because it has the most players, this would seem to be the outcome expected. If I had to bet money thats where I would put my money.

Because it is a popularity contest and how good the actual game is, is irrelevant.

    Waiting for:
    The Repopulation
    Albion Online

LOL, you saying WoW is not a quality game? Even if you dont like WoW you cant say it does not deliver a AAA game to its customers.

    I actually like this poll.

Yes, we are all well aware it's only a popularity contest, but it's fun to know what the consensus is here (and it still means something to be the most popular game).

I think the games left are all great games at this stage anyway, so let's see if my favourites make it to the next stage.

Tell that to the good madmen who play EVE.

I dunno, I'm still realing from the whole, eq vs daoc pole.  Feel like that was done on purpose to make us old folks choose one but whatever.  Interesting to see how this turns out, there has definitely been some surprises thus far, but as everyone already pointed out, this is a popularity contest and nothing more.

I recently started playing DDO and I was actually really surprised at how much I liked it. I personally think it is significantly better than the old GW, which seemed like just another MMO to me. I enjoy DDO for the puzzles and the character building aspects which I feel are missing in most MMOs that I have played.

I voted on Lord of the rings Online. It is so good that Tolkien lovers have the opportunity to wander on some of the places described in the book. Go Go!

What a sad sad state of affairs the genre is in.
  • daneyulebdaneyuleb Member Posts: 12

LotRO is a bit underrated, I agree.  Huge world, faithfully rendered, great community. Graphically quite beautiful in places, with nice DX11 effects, though dated compared to something like ESO in that dept.

F2P though, hurt them a bit in my opinion, with too much emphasis on store items, and easifying much of the game.  But it's still just an awesomely varied and fun MMO.

If only we were actually allowed to wander and live in that world, like we could when it was still a sandbox game called Middle Earth Online.

In LotRO, you're forced through linear zones filled with invisible walls, forced to take part in quests in order to progress through most areas. Sometimes you're even instant killed without explanation if you don't have the right quest. You find caves you can't enter... it's miserable.

I hope the LotR license passes to someone else, soon.

The thing is WoW certainly is most popular but in my opinion GW2, LOTRO and EVE has most commited community. Maybe 10% of WoW fans were encouraged to vote here while in those 3 games number may be vastly higher. That's why LOTRO is winning so far against WoW.

No, it's because DMKano did everything short of guaranteeing a WoW victory :) So now people are just voting to spite him.
