Returning player - expansion question

Am thinking of giving SWTOR another run having been completely disillusioned by Archeage - have downloaded the game and have two level 50 chars still. I know there's a new expansion due out in acouple of days which increases level cap to 60(?), but am getting prompts in game to buy the Hut Cartel expansion. Is the expansion that took the level cap to 55, and is it needed before I can apply the new expansion to my account, or can I skip that purchase and just buy the new one in a day or two?

By the "and have two level 50 chars still." I think he's a former player, so already Preferred. I'd +1 Sevenstar, buy Revan and you get both expansions.
(or if you don't like preferred and want to sub, you get the Hutts, and still can decide later to purchase Revan. But it's only +5 bucks to buy Revan.)
