As good as the videos and the game look... sadly this is true.
NCSoft never manages to make anything good and even IF... they screw it up badly.
MMOs finally replaced social interaction, forced grouping and standing in a line while talking to eachother.
Now we have forced soloing, forced questing and everyone is the hero, without ever having to talk to anyone else. The evolution of multiplayer is here! We won,... right?
Lineage Eternal and Lost Ark will sweep the floor with Diablo.
The Next Generation.
Lost Ark looks like it has the potential to be pretty awesome. Here's a good video that shows a lot of the features. Enable the sub-titles for English translation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAmn4x2r-O8

Like we have much choice these days with these so called "tripple A" western / eastern studio's who actualy deliver good games right ? I check my games on a game by game bases, as each studio having some major fackups past decade. Trion Rift 8/10 Trion Archeage 2/10 Just to give you an example of how bad things can get lately
Anyone who thinks that AA is 2/10 needs their head examined
uhuh 24 hour bans for exploiters who gained 100k gold. This is Trion handling dupers / hackers / cheaters who ruined any form of competitive pvp for a years worth of time.
But i gues you missed these epic failures of Trion in the past 3 weeks ? 4 times in a row the Apex has been abused not to mention the regrade hacks and dupes.
Both Lineage Eternal and Lost Ark seem nice so far. How they actually turn out is something completely different, but as some said, it's not like they can screw up more than some of the others..
Also, there is nothing wrong with Lost Ark being more ARPG than Lineage Eternal. After all, this thread is about the "real Diablo". Diablo doesn't feature 500 man battles or castle sieges. Never did, never will (my guess). So Lost Ark is likely closer to what people who where disappointed with Diablo III seek.
Some of the features Lineage Eterna wants to deliver seem really nice, i'd love to play a game that truly gets that right. The thing is, many games promised stuff like that, most fell rather short of it. I take a solid ARPG over a broken, flawed and screwed up MMOARPG all the time.
Anyways, we'll have to wait until they deliver. If only one does, the choice is rather easy, if both do, all the better, if neither does it at least won't be a surprise..
I'll wait to the day's end when the moon is high And then I'll rise with the tide with a lust for life, I'll Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore
Originally posted by Ludwik I'm sorry but I put no faith in an eastern publisher or developer building a game that's good in the west.
XLGames deserves most of the fault for ArcheAges problems, not Trion. Guild Wars 2 was a great game for 3 months until Nexon bought into NCSoft and turned it into your typical eastern cash shop mmo grinder. Wildstar pass, Aion pass, Lineage pass. The best eastern port has been FFXIV and we saw how the first iteration of that went.
Just have to say... I love how you manage to completely avoid placing responsibility where it belongs, while ignoring certain relevant details, in every one of your examples.
For one, for the entirety of the time leading up to AA's launch in the West, it was all about how Trion was given full power to alter and manage the the game as necessary for their Western market. It was all them. This, of course, was when everyone assumed it would be near flawless because, after all it had all that time in the East to be fine-tuned, etc. The game launches in the West, there's myriad issues - and now, Trion is suddenly not responsible for the game, and its issues aren't Trion's responsibility. It's all XL's fault.
How very convenient.
So, basically... When the game does something well, it's all Trion and XL had nothing to do with it. Yet, when the game does some poorly, it's all XL's fault and Trion had nothing to do with it. Come on folks. You can't have it both ways.
And it's not just you doing this 180. I'm seeing this new Mantra of "it's all XL's fault! Trion has no say in the matter!" from a lot of people since the game launched in the West. And it's at complete odds with what everyone was saying prior to its release here.
Next... GW2 changed its focus purely because of Nexon? Can you provide proof for this? Because right now it's a case of 'correlation isn't causation', and you simply asserting it as true, doesn't make it so.
And thirdly, your most blatantly dishonest spin-doctoring of the truth... FFXIV. You say "we saw how the first iteration of that went", while:
1. ignoring that all the problems with 1.0 had nothing to do with its being an Eastern style MMO.
2. completely ignoring the complete reversal with 2.0 and the awesome success its seen, despite being as much an Eastern MMO as 1.0 was. Same universe, same setting, same characters, same lore, same developers. But somehow, it's only 1.0 that gets mentioned.
I'm sure there's a point in all of what you were trying to say there but really, it's difficult to figure out what that point is, because all I see is a bunch of spin-doctoring and ignoring the facts in order to present a scenario that "feels better" to you.
Don't compare Lost Ark to Lineage Eternal. They are very different. Yes Lost Ark's animations, skill effects etc. are amazing. But it is not as massive as Lineage Eternal. It is just a multiplayer online arpg. But Lineage Eternal is a massive multiplayer online arpg. You can't create massive zones with open world pvp with that skill effects in Lost Ark. Yes they are very good looking but very limiting at the gameplay side. In Lineage Eternal ncsoft planing +500 players at the same map with a massive pvp setting. In Lineage Eternal you have open world maps, pk and open world pvp, arena pvp, massive raids and open world bosses etc. But Lost Ark has only small team dungeons and arena pvp. That's why Lineage Eternal got a lot less skill effects etc.
@Niburu, Sorry but I would rather play nothing than play poe for arpg. Yes Poe got a very good setting and environment but that's not why I play arpgs. For me the most important thing in arpgs is combat mechanics and the feeling that you're actually doing something at the combat side. Sorry but I never seen any worse combat animations and feeling in any arpg except Poe. That's why Poe is not even good enough to compare Diablo 3. And I don't even like Diablo 3 that much.
And about the release information. Lineage Eternal will be getting a simultaneous worldwide global release with multiplatform support for both PC and Mobile version on 2016. Like I said earlier here some more information..;
-Open World MMORPG -Unique Skill Activation System (Mouse Cursor Movement) -Field Event Quests -World/Raid Bosses with 20+ Members -Randomized Dungeons -Dynamic Dungeons -PK/PvP Available -PvP Arena -Simplified Controls for MMORPG -Event Contribution Upper Right -Items and Exp. obtainable solo (Event Quest) -Showed Town with various players hanging out -Mobile Game Support Using Cloud Connect Features -Generic Questing System Removed -Supports 500 Players in one area
And this is the mobile version trailer..;
And mobile version gameplay..;
I'm exited for this, but people forget that Lineage 1 is an open world isometric MMO that came in Diablo 1 era:
I see a typical ARPG with a different art style... what make this game so different than D3-PoE-etc?
the nature of an ARPG game dosen't go well with open maps... you don't want to log in a game where every is dead and a few player killing everything.
quest? how will this be any different from running mephisto / rifts over and over?
500+ player at once? keep on dreaming. I don't care what they promise... technology do not allow 500+ player simultaneously fighting in the same area, nor will 500+ people blasting off AoE abilities make that kind of PvP remotly fun/balanced.
what make this any different from other ARPG? why won't people get bored there, after running the same maps over and over? ( randomly generated maps?... D3 have these... dosen't change much)
I have it and the expansion but got it as a present.
As a Blizzard fan back from the days of Warcraft 1, I am no longer their supporter. Im on the fence now.
Edit: the non optional inspect was game breaking for me and led me to leave the game because after I had done all the work calculating breakpoints, exclusive and non exclusive multipliers, the diminishing returns of different defence attributes, hard and soft caps etc and made a spread sheet toi simulate the best potential build, a noob friend of mine just came and copied me without being able to do any of the work.
An rpg needs to have competition in character building since character building is what makes a rpg a rpg instead of a platformer or fps. If people can just inspect you without your permission when you are beating them like in wow or diablo, it ruins the whole game which is why I left both.
I see a typical ARPG with a different art style... what make this game so different than D3-PoE-etc?
It's a MMORPG like Lineage 1(the second most sucessful MMO only behind WoW). And although LE will provide instances(L1 has very few instances), there will be open world, open bosses, open pvp-pk, clan war and sieges.
forget asia, they let that nuclear plant in japan cause major damage, and china is known for HUGE human rights violations, even in modern times. Let's keep our money on this continent and away from irresponsible global citizens.
Lineage Eternal and Lost Ark will sweep the floor with Diablo.
The Next Generation.
Oh so we're doing "_____ is a Diablo 3 killer"now? Because if that's what we're doing, then whatever _____ is, it definitely won't be killing D3. The moment you start looking for and labeling games as killers of some other game, then they're automatically destined to fail.
LE does look really good, but D3 after RoS has been really solid and not anywhere near the fiasco that D3 launched as. Also, NCSoft. Good luck with that.

Ah plz, just dont start with this kind of posts.
Lineage eternal dont come to fix anything related to diablo players wishes...
Diablo is diablo, PoE is Poe and LE will be LE
We dont even know anything for real yet about LE

You should work for FOX News.
Lineage eternal will do the whole package...
http://youtu.be/LcLJwX56fLI
look at this, it scales extremely well with hardware and is even playable on mobile devices...
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
And back to the very old diablo....
http://youtu.be/3cAAAiskmvI
randomized dungeons.... Still dont get why no AAA MMO is using this..
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
This makes me want to play it on th ipad
http://youtu.be/cDVL99wbv1Y
it shows how the game is controlled, and how its set far apart from diablo

Other interestign stuff is that it will have infinite levels, 1-50 normal levels + 51-?? heroic levels.
Having a unreachable level cap was the selling point of L1 in east along with its world pvp.

yeh, Im hyped about this.
As long as it doesn't have a non optional inspect feature, Ill be getting it.
D3 really disappointed me btw.
I have it and the expansion but got it as a present.

I've got a feevah, and the only prescription... is more cowbell.
I am in the same boat.

I posted a longer clip here. 19 minutes.
Between Lineage Eternal and Lost Ark I think there should be some interesting games coming our way. Well, we hope.

forget asia, they let that nuclear plant in japan cause major damage, and china is known for HUGE human rights violations, even in modern times. Let's keep our money on this continent and away from irresponsible global citizens.
Graphics, art and combat matter a lot in an ARPG. Which is why I always get bored of POE so quickly.
But until I see what the game offers beyond that in terms of features that I like from D2 and even POE, I won't get excited.
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile
Ah, the white knight enters the arena...
i used to think you were trying to convince the rest of us that AA doesn't suck. I'm starting to think you're just trying to convince yourself.
Exactly. Why would I go slumming when I can just play Diablo.
lmao @ slumming
kudos!!
This looks pretty fun. Let's hope it plays as good as it looks.
