According to the latest financials released by Perfect World Entertainment, operations in the United States have had an adverse affect on the company's earnings. While PWE made a slight profit overall in a year-to-year comparison, the increase was due largely to revenue generated by Chinese earnings by DOTA 2 and a pair of mobile games that have scored well with the same audience.
"In view of US subsidiary's recent performance and near-term business outlook that are below our expectations, we recognized acquisition-related impairments in this quarter," said CEO Robert Xiao in a statement.
"However, we are still confident in the long-term prospects of our US subsidiary given its strong R&D and operational capabilities as well as promising pipeline."

Most probably the wages of staff in the US operations are 10 times as high as the equivalent positions in China. They need to fire all the US staff that aren't absolutely necessary and move those jobs to China.

The report states that the US operations made 9.9 million this quarter which is 2,475,000 per month and non-GAAP profit of 20.6 million.

The funny part is this works in Asia because they play games in cafes. So its all about time in a game for them. Anything that speeds up your time is a good thing over there. They spend a ton of money on cash shops over there. Here people play at home so PWE needs to rethink how things work here. Star Trek online is losing so many players most of then vets that subbed. Now its only f2p players and now most of them are refusing to spend any more money. Pve queus are dead. This last update was really bad for PWE even though they say it wasn't.
