BMunchausenBMunchausen Staff WriterMMORPG.COM Staff Posts: 400

Korean game publisher Smilegate revealed its upcoming action MMO Lost Ark Online in a new trailer at this year's G-star in Busan, South Korea. The company's chairman, CEO Herald Kwon, hopes the game will revitalize the flagging Asian MMO market:

"The local PC online game market has been depressed. We anticipate that Lost Ark will restore the popularity in this segment."

The game is in development by Tripod Studios, which has plans for a closed beta in 2015.

In the meantime, check out the Lost Ark Online Trailer below.

Ok I am actually impressed. Now that is how you make a flucking trailer.

Some of those skills have some very unique animations. I love it.

Not only was the sword large, but it got larger when he pulled it out. LOL

Gotta give the Koreans props for developing gorgeous-looking games.

It's kind of like they took Diablo 3 and Lineage Eternal and mixed them.

But ok, looks fun so we'll see.

If you watch the whole trailer you will see a party.

I suspect this might be more like "city quest hub" and then you enter areas. Just a guess.

well got to say he did pull out some sloppy thing out there.... ;(

but got to say the rest of the trailer is rather nice, alot of it looks very arcade, but in between they show some really awesome beasts and world getting teared appart, ofc that means it have to be heavy instanced as well.....and guess it is a D3 in Korean design, and at some points atleast sells it better than D3 imo.

yet another game with a rift in it that dumps loads of mobs onto the ground for people with oversized weapons to kill in flashy ways.

have the devs ever tried to swing a sword that big around or run 100's of meters with one dragging along like that behind them?

i know it's supposed to be fantasy, but at least make the weapons look like people can actually use them.

suppose by the time it's converted to western languages (if anyone ever bothers) even better games will be out for the western market.

i look this wrecked because i've got GIST.
    Whats your excuse?

    How is D3 an MMO?

The same way Hearthstone is a MMO listed on the Superdata charts. Everything is a MMO nowadays it's laughable.

    Trailer was awesome.

I'm guessing it's too much to ask for a box price and be done with it? Cash shop P2W crap will stop me from playing this despite looking totally awesome. Also I feel like they just showed you the best stuff in that game, kinda like a movie trailer that shows you the best scenes in a movie...

Looks more like a Diablo clone.  I guess if you like games like this... but it assuredly will be f2p, with legendary grinds and an item shop that will probably be almost mandatory.

After Trion's apocalypse westernizing the last Korean mess, doubt there will be many takers to westernize this one.

I was enjoying the trailer right up to the point that they showed gameplay, and then immediately lost interest.

I kind of feel the same way. In third person with WASD controls, I would have loved this thing. As yet another game in the laughably-titled "Action" RPG genre, it's much less appealing.

I mean, it looks about 10x better than existing ARPG's in both style and gameplay, but it still would have been better to ditch that dull left-click-spam genre altogether.

    I would play this. Hard.

Of course by the same token for the last 9 years we can also say:

Western game made for the Western market = Fail in the West.

So, around 18 classes for this game, have been planned. So far they presented 4, BUT EIGHTEEN! Amazing to see such plethora of choice. Furthermore it seems this games has some unique additions to the genre.

I'm gonna struggle with choosing between Lost Ark and Lineage Eternal. I just wish D3 was never made at this point, it all reminds me of a big disappointment.

Same here. Looks a little bit like Archeage and a little bit like LOL. Not really my thing. May work well in Asia since "grindfests" tend to do well there. Or is it that they only get to choose one type of game which always seem to be over the top grindfests?

I can't be too hard on the game. I don't know much about it except what I have seen....and from that I don't think I would like it.
