The land and housing thing sucks. The levels of spam and bots are nowhere near as bad on EU as they are on NA servers, like every other game. How 'bout no for the grinding thing. You don't like the grind, so fucking what?

Keep in mind people this is not a review of the game. It only talks about the current spam/housing issue on a busy server, and ONE aspect of the game: Hasla grinding (which you do NOT have to do).

When Trion actually gets that feature/fix into the game, then we'll talk about it. Promises aren't realities.

Pro-tip - don't bother to block the spammers - they get autobanned within minutes and are replaced immediately by another dfffgdgffdgd random bot.

The entire effort of finding the name to block is wasted time by players - as its one automated system (bot creation and spam) fighting another automated system (auto-chat spam ban).

As fat as bots - there is currently one working teleport 3rd party tool that works - I've already reported to Trion so they are aware - XL needs to put in a fix.

Real estate - lots of it is getting sold/dumped as taxes are stacking up on those holding multiple plots, over time it will get better.

Hasla weapons - not doing it - crafting is IMO the way to go as long term that's what will make any quest gear look like a complete joke.

I remember apologists saying "You'll get land in a month" as a defense against detractors. Now they are having problems with third party programs snatching up land unfairly? Well, there goes that argument.

As for the gold spammers and teleporting, I can't imagine they didnt see this in the Russian, Korean, or Japanese launch.

As far as crafting being the way to go, what if you dont have land?

Theres just no good way to defend the faults in this game with "it'll get better in the future" apologists  said the same thing about Warhammer as I recall, look where that game ended up.

It was over the summer when the argument against issues with this game revolved around Trion doing the cash shop differently than the over seas counterparts. Well, the cash shop really isn't all that different, but yet the argument is still being made.

First off, this game has been running in Korea for over a year.  There is absolutely no excuse for the spammers, bots or the teleporters except that XLGames does not have the expertise to fix it.  Seriously, I don't know any other major titles that have such problems, does not say much for the developers.

The article really cracked me up, after writing about all the problems, he says he is enjoying the game.  The absurdity of that statement is something else.

I just cannot believe they charge people LP for reporting someone.  That has to be the most ridiculous thing I have heard about this game.

You really have to be a masochist to play this game.  I guess I am just glad there are so many better games out there that don't have these problems.

This game has wrapped up the yearly fickle finger of fate award for the worst launch ever.

For my part I was so qeue'd long in the back wagon that I didn't come to the point of being able to grind, but to see me automatically disconnected when I was about to be in the entering line, so that, all I've seen is a gore-grind game with only flaws and nothing to do there. I will not grind a single minute there. It'll be wasted time. If korean, russian and chinese IP's are not banned from Western Servers, that is the solution to bots and all the taken land (If you talk to the proper Chinese you will have of course your portion of land) then everything is a bad taste joke. And the asian clowns infest everything they can. At least, they play home when they are in a korean game.... It's been the same for years, and it'll be like that for years to come. Ban them, as they have their own servers... No one is gotta get hurted, isn't it?

It is a question of fangs.

How was your week, ArcheAge fans?

I got a refund for both my account and my kids.  There is no way I'm playing that cesspool of a game.

However, anyone who thinks land shortages weren't a designed mechanism, acting as a gold-sink in Archeage's economy, doesn't understand game-world economic models very well. If Trion or XLGames had any desire to address this issue they could "fix" it in the next patch. But, because this is a gold-sink, most likely you won't see any changes, and land availability will most likely improve when people become "land-poor", ie. can't pay their taxes. Or, it could mirror real life, and .01 of 1% of the Archeage community could end up owning 50% or more of the in-game assets. [Visions of land barons renting out housing and farmland to us serfs keep running through my head].

Here's the reason I said Trion and XLGames won't be addressing land shortages anytime soon. Vast areas of less desirable land are just sitting in the game empty [NW White Arden is especially empty]. In fact, after doing some exploring in each < lvl 40 PvE zones on Nuia, I would estimate 1/4 to 1/3 of land which could be developed is empty, and not zoned for anything. Even if they do decide to open up more land, it would be like living in a real life rural area anywhere. Large tracts of land are available, but the farther out they are, the greater pain-in-the-ass it becomes to transport packs of building materials to build your house, farm, etc.; or to have access to agricultural merchants, a mailbox, and a warehouse manager. Climb a hill and fly over NW White Arden and you'll see what I mean.

i dont know what server you are on but damn space in those areas lucky you.. also its a game and land is a part of the game and they fked it up simple as that ... f2p's with parton status grabbing up plots and just the mess of it all ..i have land in a sweet spot but damn all the new players etc without and all the botting tards with 10 plots etc and the fact you can't pool gilda stars together to  get something as a guild like the large houses which would ease up smaller plots.. its a fking mess and there is no two ways about it ..and real life ?? its a game who wants real life in it? i play to have fun not take what would be close to my real life work and have to do it when im trying to relax and enjoy and you want real life then add capital gains tax and tax for this and that etc etc ..

How do kids get refunded? Al Gore orders a stork to deliver to your doorstep all the money you spent on them? :)

I think way to many people are forgetting that Trion is only the publisher of this game. That's it, XL just used their name to garner some of their dedicated customer base. Trion is here to make some money.

With that being said, I think the game is good. The land thing is tremendously easy to fix, there is open space all over the game, more housing space will be coming. The bot thing, no worse than most average MMO's and when you spout off "my mmo has no bots" 95% of the time you're playing an MMO that noone cares about. It's like the mundane Apple users talking about how they're so "secure" but in reality nobody gives a shit to make virii geared towards 8% of computer users. Game has it's hiccups but is good if you LIKE HIS TYPE OF GAME

TLDR;Game has problems, game is good, hopefully game gets better. Trion can't fix anything blame XL.

As I commented upon earlier, land is a huge problem in ArcheAge and why I strongly recommend you keep your wallets shut and move on to another game.

This is a long-standing and known issue.  The link above shows a player using a hack to scoop up land as it becomes available.

All of these issues are player related.

If people didn't buy gold, there would be no spammers/bots.

If people only took the land they needed, there would be no shortage.

Hasla is a good thing. It gives people a space to congregate to looking for large PvP battles. If you don't like it, don't do it. The crafted stuff is better anyway.

The problem is, has, and will always be the players. If this game falls, it will be the player's fault. Guild Wars 2's WvW was ruined by players all stacking to the top servers looking for free wins. DAoC had a similar issue with people stacking to the side that controlled all the relics. This game is unique but the problem is still the same.

It took me 2 hours in a 5man group to get a hasla weapon. If you want shit handed to you go back to wow.

Too late, should have been in at launch.  But then again $150 Founders Packs rushing out the digital door is more important while patrons sit in queue and have scripted bots claiming land.

Back in the day it took longer in WoW to walk to the Barrens.

Nothing like a good scapegoat to pass the buck of responsibility.

I'm sure it was the players who launched with 8 servers and no plan for managing server capacity resulting in 4k+ queues.

Must have been the players who designed the facebook paygate labor system.

Must be the players who control how many plots of land someone can have.

Must be the players fault that these incompetent buffoons can't combat spammers and bots because I've never seen systems designed by devs to combat them before. /sarcasm

If this game fails it will be on the developers and publisher for being inept at launching and running a MMO.

The struggle is real. Well, the grinding is there, if you play the game and didn't know that before hand, now you know. Hasla weapon is just a little preview of the grind you need to do for crafted stuff (unless ur skilled at AH that is).

Archeage is a marathon not a sprint.

ArcheAge is not recommended.  Turn around right now.  Find another game.  Keep your wallet closed.

Bots, Spammers, Lack of land, Poor questing, Pissy Community.  Trion is powerless and helpless.

The lack of land is probably the worst.  Without land, you will be missing a great part of what makes ArcheAge special.  Don't believe the spewing nonsense about "plenty of land - just goota look for it" or "lots of land in PvP zones".  I joined one of the last servers to come up, and the land is gone, gone, gone.  Worse, as land frees up, predatory guilds allegedly run hacks to scoop it up.

Stay far, far away from this one.

Totally agree.. never felt so bad about wasting money on a game like now on AA. Have a archeum account, such a waste.. Building space gone within two days on my server, and I did have headstart! Thanks to que's ranging from 4 to 6 hours (with patron status!) there where whole days lost where you could not play. Have a small garden, but that get's old fast. Pve get's boring fast. It is nice to use a glider and a mount, but not enough to tie you to this game. Going on water is not something you can do alone or you will be ganked. If you plan on doing things solo, you will end up nowhere and get bored with this game fast. Maybe I will take a look in 6 months or even a year to see it there are people left playing it (besides bots, scammers and spammers) But there is no way I will ever put any cash into this game again.

"No MMO launch is flawless." This was not a MMO launch, it was a regional launch for a MMO already out.

AA is a highly successful game from Korea, why is it launching with these issues in the west? I think I can say without checking that the Korean game is not full of bots and spam.

One of the attractions to me when I first heard about the game was that it was going to be polished as it would have been out about two years before launch here. Instead we see this, I don't get it.

This is the first time I have seen anyone writing that the game has been a big success in Korea.

I thought the general opinion was that the game had failed in both Korea and Russia?

I remember whenever people put the blame for AA failing in korea on XL games,  people used to say "but over here it is Trion's game. They do the westernization, they do all the coding, they are in control about everything, it's part of their deal with XL, it will be like a different game" blablabla.

In a ton of posts over the course of many month the game was described as "Trion's game", "Trion's AA" etc., even in headlines and official articles on this website.

Funny now that Trion failed with just another game, it's all "XL games fault, Trion can't do anything -they are only the publisher".

Agree fully with you. All this was preventable and should never happen in first place. Mainly because same mistakes have been seen in past from too many games. Yet they love to repeat old mistakes.

With exception of Aion I have never seen such impossible infestation of gold spamming messages that many times literally prevent players to communicate over chat channels.
