Hey OP, you can also ponder Darkfall. Their devs love it when people grief each other and praise it - not even joking. You would fit in perfecto there if you are seeking your own kind. They have what you want built into their game.

thats cool, pull up a research article written by a graduate student at a noname university and submitted to a garbage journal with an impact factor of 1.147. If i try hard enough I can find a research article that will correlate eating chicken wings with higher divorce rate. TRY AGAIN MY FRIEND.

Hey you self-identified. I'm not trying to pin anything on you that you don't admit to yourself. You like hurting other people - people that you know are human - you also want to show others that you do this (making videos and keeping a souvenir). I'd just be content for you to keep it in fantasy land instead of taking it out in real life. Don't get so defensive about studies you said yourself are fact for you. You are actively seeking people to give a hard time. We accept it from you, why worry about whether or not we label it as long as you leave it fantasy instead of attacking people in real life, that's the way to cope with it. You take it outside of the games then you've got serious problems and I would hope you get caught, all bets are off if you torture and bully real life people outside of that shell of fantasy land.

It's typical that you would downplay something that you see as telling but look, no one gives two diddles if you have "tendencies" as long as you keep them in a willing participant scenario and don't overstep bounds. In open PVP games ppl know griefing can occur, that's consent in the slightest form.

Don't get caught up in the study. Think about Darkfall too. I'm telling you your people are all over there.

Wow, so now because I like to PK people that means I like to actually hurt people. Its fun and easy to stereotype and paint with a broad brush isn't it? And no I did not "self-identify" into whatever category you decided to lump me in. "Trolling" is a huge spectrum. PKing someone in an online game and then moving on is different from publicly shaming a person on facebook in front of their friends and relatives. And no there is nothing in that useless article you sent that is fact. I'm not against the article I am against bad science and people who just throw out statics and research articles that they didn't even bother to actually read themselves to pretend like they actually know anything.

its so funny. on the one hand everyone is crying for the oh-so wanted "open sandbox" experience. But dont you dare playing to your own rules in that environment. You have to bend to the "we are all happy friends, because its a craaaaftingame *whatever game they think it is*" crowd, or youll get stamped as a loonie. Humanity is definitly not ready for a sandbox :P

To everyone on the search for a better experience: albion online. great comunity, great game.

Being a griefing sadist in game - does not translate to RL.

I know quite a few really chill folks in RL who are just absolutely merciless in game.

Games provide a safe outlet to play out parts of human psyche that are not acceptible in RL.

That's why I tend to call that kind of people "cowards" or "armchair bullies".

They do in games where there are no serious consequences what they don't dare to do in reality since they would get beaten or worse.

Sorry, I have a hard time labelling a person saying "All I want is to be an ass to other players" as a nice guy. When you get pleasure by making others miserable, no matter in what community is it, yeah, even online, it's pretty obvious what kind of person you are to me. But I guess it's pretty cool to feel like a "gangsta" in a video game, safely hidden behind a computer screen.

Let me quote a few of your posts...

    First, the thread title.

Can I make a living just griefing other people?

The intent is already pretty obvious. You want to annoy others, to piss them of, not just fight them.

Easy kills when there's no risk and the opponent can't fight back. The intend is even more obvious now.

Later on I want to be able to be really strong so that people that try to get revenge on me cant even do it if they bring several of their friends to fight me. Thanks in advance.

Another confirmation that you don't look for a fair fight, for a challenge, you just look to kill people who can't fight back.

Sorry, but your concept of PK is definitely all about hurting other people, preferably weak one who can't fight back, and do so until they are really disgusted.

So let's go back to the initial affirmation:

What you plan to do means precisely that you like and enjoy hurting (preferably weaker) people, since that's the only activity you want to be part of in the game.

At least be a man, and accept what you are. Since it's a valid play style in this game, you can do it, but don't be in denial.

See, I've been playing these games since early UO beta, and I also enjoy killing people. The people I like killing are those who only play to grief others. Nothing like sending those armchair bullies back to the graveyard and loot their bodies dry.

You can however escape from jail but you are debuffed.

Now there are clans that are dedicated to doing all that stuff. They are called pirates and there are several guilds recruiting that are all pirate guilds. there are several free for all islands between the continents perfect for piratey bases.

You won't be able to level just by doing those thing however because you only get xp from killing mobs, doing quests, crafting, and harvesting.

So basically I cannot level as a pirate? I heard things like its better to level up normally then become a pirate later on. Its kinda lame, it is basically saying that the strongest players are going to be the carebears just farming and grinding and you wont be able to kill them because you cant level by killing them from the beginning.

You can but its much slower. All you need to do is to get to lvl cap and then become a pirate. If you will become a pirate your lvling will all be with your a$$ up in a farm gethering and planting. Not really a pirate way.

So as i said lvl to cap as fast as you can by any means, then go pirating.

If you will get good pirate guild its bring more income then farming with much more fun.

Usually its a power thing, certain types can feel powerless in their own lives and seek to overcome this in games, it would be very easy to pigeonhole such atypical reactions, although its more than a little amusing to see how a little 'psychological profiling' works to further 'identify' an individual case, given that the subject is male and possibly early 20's, though the implied maturity level does seem lower, that probably indicates that the subject is still living at home with a parent(s), i say parent because the anger levels and the defensive attitude displayed implies that there may have been a break up of some kind which the subject was powerless to affect, the subject may also be unemployed or perhaps 'under employed' reinforcing the 'powerlessness' they feel, which can often be due to a feeling that what they do has little impact or potential for advancement, an example of which may well be someone who collects shopping trollies at a local supermarket, being able to overcome this and regain a feeling of 'power' in a game might well be cathartic for such a person.

Well, i can say when i was  teenager playing UO I terrorized people because i wanted to be hunted back I wanted to fight someone anyone. I loved the competition the challenge of the red life couldn't shop from vendors couldn't enter towns very much, the stat loss, the prestige of being red. I wanted the blues to form up and try to chase and kill me. It was all about the hunt. The other part was sometimes i killed people of rival guilds simply to stop their progression so they would grow more powerful more slowly and gave us a territorial dominance. Killing was the business and business was good nothing personal. I didnt hate anyone at all i didnt want people to be sad or quit and i certainly didn't want people to feel grief. I was just playing an outlaw and often times i helped players out and get them in the game and I geared them out and showed them some ropes helped them recover bodies or hunt a bit while chatting. Now days, I really dont do that and i pretty much just spend my time crafting and exploring and I dont really pvp like I used to. Maybe its a testosterone thing because i feel more lethargic in life too and I dont box anymore and just pretty much laze about so i laze about in game lol.

In my experience, people who are really good at PVP and PKing don't start whiny threads in general MMO sites bellyaching about how you can't PK from level 1... they just f**king do what they need to do and have whiners for breakfast... just saying.

That's my experience too. They typically study the class they like, join a decent pk guild and go to work. It takes a lot of practice to be really good and you don't get that by forum talk.

You want to gank carebears and not other pirates? Surely killing other pirates is more profitable? But I guess I can see the appeal of a wannabe pirate, let the other players do the work for you, because well, what else do you know?

it's like the real world.  murderers exist but they get punished and there are significantly less of them than there are law abiding people.  Eve is the same way.  there's no barrier saying you can't gank people as they undock but few people try to do thisd

it makes it more immersive, not less, for me.  in a game like DF where there is little discouragement for lawlessness, you just assume everyone is a dick and keep away from everyone  not in yourclan or alliance.

So does that mean that they are inherently merciless but just wont do it out of fear of the real world repercussions? Therefore the only way they can let their true selves out is in a game where there are very little "real world" repercussions?

Well, at least they are doing it in a game and not taking out a walmart.

ArcheAge is a PvP game at heart - killing other players is part of the game. If you feel like you are getting bullied you can simply log out.

You can report abusive behavior (such as life threats, hate/racial related abuse etc..) or you can put players on ignore.

Again its really simple to avoid abuse in game - but getting killed is game is not the same as getting bullied.

Not getting griefed is each players responsibility, if you keep respawning and getting killed repeatedly - its as much on you as it is on them.

Don't play the victim in game, use the tools given to you to make your online experience enjoyable for yourself.

    This.

I'm calling BS on the whole thread

OP is obviously messing with people, the fact that folks let their emotional buttons be pushed so easily on a game forum by a complete stranger is amusing.

Not sure why people are getting so upset over the way he wants to play the game. I thought the beauty of a sandbox was that you could do whatever you wanted. Its a fantasy world nothing like real life. I expect you would not like it if he told you how to play the game, so why do you think he would respond differently?

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.
