I hate the crashes, I hate "The gods have disconnected you". I hate that because of constant crashes and having to keep requeing that kept me from getting any land. I hate that I spent more time in queue than in game. I hate that ive had to hard restart my computer more than 10 times after the game locks up or crashes. I hate that when I went to the website for support, it kept telling me "oops, try back later" both in game and out. I hate that when I call trion, they tell me they got rid of phone service in 2013, and lastly I hate sitting here for as long as I have on live chat to get a refund.

I've never in my life asked for a refund for a game, as I know launches are rocky, but this is the worst launch Ive ever experienced. Refund better be inc.

    Least favorite part?

People who are complaining about things that really aren't that big a deal and claiming that the things they are complaining about are "death-knells".

Since when is Tuesday a direction?

  • CallidorCallidor Member Posts: 371

So many things to do eh? well that depends entirely if you have managed to procure land. I spent my whole weekend either in the queue or desperately searching (unsuccessfully) to find land for a farm. Ive got 5000 labor points, but resources are so scarce that crafting is out of the question. Not to mention the AH prices for raw materials says lots of people are buying gold. If you ask me, theres very little to do in Archeage unless you were one of the first lucky ones.

45 minutes so far in the live chat queue for my refund. Course the queue itself says the average wait time is 6:50, Im assuming thats in hours.

The game itself is great, the world is vast and beautifully built.

But the most annoying things are

    a) disconnects/queues

    b) racism/sexism and pure idiocracy in faction/trial chat

    c) server lags

    Hodor!

Wow that is a tad pompous.

So if one doesn't enjoy Archeage that one must just not know how to play mmorpgs or really undestand what its trying to be? Im going to call bullshit on that. I do not enjoy Archeage, i've played AA on korean servers, was in the first round of alpha really gave it my all. I simply don't like it and its not for lack of understanding "sandbox" or the fact that the game "opens up" after level 30( i love that one). I am an avid sandbox player and currently still play UO EVE and Wurm online and enjoy each very much. There is no rose tinted glasses bullshit either as I still play these and still enjoy them. This is getting real old

What he means is that most players don't search any further and stick to the obvious. Like those who stick to grinding quests in AA when you can level without touching a quest. There's so many things to do it's insane. But most indeed don't think out of the box, and just run to the next quest marker, and then whine that the game is a linear themepark.

Kyleran said it perfectly, and I agree with him 200%.

I understand exactly that. I just think its arrogant and dismissive of people. It is true that some people are that shallow but what really happens is that anyone with a differing opinion now of archeage are just too stupid to get it and are shallow casuals with no abstract thoughts outside the box as you two say. Now that i think is just not quite fair and is too much posturing.

I don't see that as arrogant or whatever else. Some people are just better at finding out things and thinking out of the box, others just don't leave the most obvious path. I'm software engineer since 25 years, if I say that I'm better at coding than the guy who repairs my car, it's not arrogance, it's truth and simple logic. Same when I say the car repair guy is better than me at his job. And same when I say some people are better at thinking out of the box than others.

And if you read my recent post history, you'll see I'm definitely not an AA defender. To the opposite, I think the launch is catastrophic, the game was much better in alpha/beta, and I just asked for a complete refund. But the content of the game is what it is, if you and others did go look for it, it's not the games fault but the fault of the player's lack of initiative.

Thats ridiculous. What makes it arrogant is saying it. Whenever you point out that you are better at something than someone is being arrogant. Even if its true.

This guy is assuming people actually need to satisfy their game play at the same deep level as he does. Its a lost art, that only the skilled and astute have mastered.

Alright then....I'll go back to frogger.

There should be risk vs reward in ow pvp instead of bland zerg. What's the benefit of zerg pvp? Why would you do it? Why shouldn't you do it? Consequences aren't there. Reward?

I've only put in a few hours so I have no idea, but watching a stream and saw a zerg come through. Got me thinking, not sure the benefit or detractor here. One of my friends won't play a MMO unless it offers the ability to loot other players (and the risk of him losing his stuff). I think it was ultima-inspired.

    so...

I dont understand what you're saying now. You say its not the games fault by the fault of the player for having a lack of initiative? That is preposterous and can't be the case everytime. So basically you are saying that I personally (since i am one of those who didn't enjoy the game) am lacking in initiative and thinking outside the box or abstract if you will. Now i find that insulting and that is arrogant. I mean for background purposes to show that I am not some wham bam thank you ma'am gamer, my two favorite MMORPG's are EVE and UO. Currently playing Wurm right now in fact. Now i find Wurm more fun than Archeage...yet im lacking in thinking outside the box or initiative thats absurd.

First of all, you are all painting yourself into a box that I never created.  I simply stated that there are people who don't really understand how to play ArcheAge, and you are all rushing to put yourself in that category it seems.

I never said if you didn't enjoy ArcheAge you didn't understand it, perhaps you did, nothing wrong with not liking something as long as your opinion isn't based on ignorance, and again, if you place yourself in that box it's all on you, not me.

Finally, you suggest it  might be arrogant to think this way.  Who ever said being called arrogant was a bad thing?  Here's a little primer on how you can be arrogant too.

Fair enough, if you're not saying that people must not be smart enough to play archeage and that some people are then i'll not take offense but i just get the impression that you're just going to assume that of people when they disagree with archeage anyways and I just hate that. Sorry Cheers
