Trion has revealed a whopping batch of improvements to the Rift Patron Benefits plan for those who subscribe to the game. The plan includes several passive buffs, mount travel speed, fast pass access to the Porticulum and more. Check out the full list below.
We’ve buffed our Patron subscription option with new and improved benefits! In addition to the extra currency, summons, Mount speed, store discounts, artifact tracking, daily quests, and bonus loot Patrons currently enjoy (whew, that’s a mouthful), we’re adding rewards that Ascend the Ascended experience like never before:
Passive 40% Experience, Favor, Notoriety, Prestige, and Token Boosts: No longer will you have to choose when to use your daily boosts, they’ll always be on for Patrons!
Mounted Command: In addition to your mounted speed bonus, time to mount will be reduced by 25% and your chance to be dismounted will be reduced by 5%.
Patron Fast Pass: Traveling to the Porticulum is so passé. With the Patron Fast Pass you can teleport from any location once every 30 minutes!
Marvelous Luck: Get rewarded with an increased chance for Marvelous loot from Supply Crates!
Patron Focus: Use your planar abilities more often with (15-min) faster cooldowns on:
Archaic Tablet
Charged Mirror
Consuming Flame
Petrified Rune
Renewing Seed
Soul Crystal

Why? The Rift f2p model is pretty fair and you can live without these bonuses too. You just get stuff 40% quicker then the normal rate by subbing.

All Time Favorites: EQ1, WoW, EvE, GW1
Playing Now: WoW, ESO, GW2
The permanent token boost isn't that big a deal, everyone with patron saved their dailies up untill there was a raid for a massive boosted amount. This also makes you reach the cap of weekly tokens though, which is pretty lame since it disencourages you to do everything.
This is comming from someone who made rift his full time occupation for a while though.
Anyway I don't see anything unfair or over the top, and anyone who has a trade going on the AH can easily afford patron via REX.

...actualy that 40% lower speed for F2P would be a reason for me NOT to subscribe - I don't like fast leveling at all!
i think it is fair to give patron players better benefits while players who dont spend money still have access to everything,
the patron benefits before was crap, i could buy patron but only 2 hours boost and 15% passive will be totally useless when you are in high end gear already,it is just good to get geared faster particularly for pvp but every one can get those gears eventually. patron faster and free like 2-3 weeks later or a month max . still fair for all.
that aint sub to a game anymore ,not even close, that is sub to a cash shop.
A lot like SOE does with all acces something, which is actually a key which opens doors to 7? different cash shops.

I'm just treading water in Rift until something better comes along . I have plenty of credits and get a few boost because I brought the game and subscribed for a couple of years . So this doesn't bother me too much . I think it may put of new people who are coming in to try the game for free ever getting to the point where they will want to subscribe to it .
They may be wise to offer a dual patron subscription to Rift and Archeage because I think if they don't Rift could be dead by then end of next year .
I would rather be a patron of Archeage .
Agreed, just do an all access thing like SOE. I still like Rift and I m about to try AA for the first time in a few hours. If I like it, I would love an All Access thing for both , for 15 a month.
Well to be honest a new free2play player that stay that way is just dead weight.. Sure you are a slab of warm meat to fill the cue but company wise you do not bring anything. So of course they will make it as tempting as they can to convert you to a paying customer, either by a subscription or by making life as difficult as they think they can get away with.
But i agree that this will sting in the eyes of some older F2P customers. The new ones will not really care because this is the reality they live in. But some of the older ones will feel like they have been devalued even more. They went from a nice slab of beef to something barley worth putting in a stew.
This have been a good conversation
I disagree. The F2P package has not changed at all. You are still a nice slab of beef. You get exactly what you have been getting. Subscibers went from skirt steak to New York strip. All they did was envalue their sub model. It does not change a thing for free players.

All the AAA quality mmorpg hide content behind paywall. example : eq1,eq2,dcuo,swtor,ddo,lotro and several others. as for gears with stat on them rift store or pvp tokens from packs : so you want to spend nearly 1000$ to buy raid 2 pve gear or t1 pvp gear for all slots which you will replace with next tier within 3 weeks? really? what kind of freaking idiot does that? those raid 2 gears are there to scam morons, it is as simple as that. if someone is stupid enough to buy raid 2 gears or t1 pvp gear with real money they desrve to get scammed.

devalued? f2p? should f2p have any value in the 1st place? let me ask you these questions :
1. are you forced to use only 2 quickbar in rift if you are f2p?
2. does trion disable your hide helmet ability because you are f2p?
3. does trion disable your ability to show title you earn by playing the game because you aer f2p?
4. does trion set restriction where you can not accept quest rewards?
5. does trion set restrictions so that you can not loot boss in dungeon after you loot a couple of time?
6. does trion restrict your pvp to only 5 match every week?
7. does trion not allow you to do raids?
8. does trion not allow you to trade with other players?
9. are we not allowed to earn as much platinum as we want in rift?
10. is level 50-60 content hidden behind paywall?
11. is trion not allowing all f2p to enjoy their entire game totally free of charge?
Answer me these questions and then come back to talk about "devalued f2p".

People who spend money on the sub option should get more than free players. This idea that you have to get everything for nothing is a disease in the genre.
Looks like that is the plan. They have their own launcher program now (Glyph), just like SOE and Blizzard. I'm surprised more companies haven't followed SOE's example as it has been paying off for them.
yup.

I think this is an interesting shift compared to a year ago when Bill Fisher said they didn't actually care if you subbed or not. I'm guessing that a year's worth of metrics showed some value in retaining subs.
For those of us who've been subbed all along, this is a nice bump in value.
