Is it worth it for a totally new player to play?

I have never actually played EQ. I know nothing about the game other than it's an mmo. No acronyms, locations, classes / specifics, etc.

Back in the day, I was an AC man, and I stuck to it for years. EQ was always referred to as "that other game".

Now, fast forward to the present... will I be captured or bored?

Well, as you can imagine, the game is very different than it was in the early 2000s. It still has a decent population but is very top heavy. You will likely spend the majority of your time soloing until you reach a high level and join a guild. Luckily, there are mercenaries to help your leveling process, and leveling is incredibly fast compared to what it used to be. It does have a huge, rich world to explore. I can't really answer your question for you, it will be a lonely journey most likely for a while but it is free to play, so it doesn't really hurt to check it out.

Download it and try it out. Decide for yourself. The silver level is F2P so no financial commitment if it isn't your thing.

The present incarnation is vastly different then back in the day. The tutorial starter area does a decent job educating new players and returning players alike. It also gives a full set of armor that will hold you over for a good few levels.

    Hope this helps.
