I only have one of those games on my hard drive; Star Wars, The Old Republic. About every other time I start it up it asks for a one-time password sent by email so I shut down the launcher and play something else.

And what is this supposed to mean? Raptr doesn't exactly have a corner on the game community market. I would be surprised if even 1 in 100 PC gamers are part of it.
No spin required. That chart is for launch month. It therefore doesnt reflect the massive number of players that have ditched the game after they had to start paying for it.
I can guarantee you the same chart for May will look very different as far as ESO is concerned.
I just googled raptr and the facebook page came up. That post you just posted has 55 likes. I get more then that with a fucking cat pic ROFL. Seems like they have a pretty good handle on what folks are playing lol
I only learned about it last year when Trion was using it in a big push to get players into Rift. I signed up, played Rift for about 20 hours and got the Rift expansion for free becuase of it. Sure not every gamer uses it, just like Xfire, however it has community membership for some games that go up to 2.5 million members. So I would say it makes for a pretty decent sample size for getting trends.
I find it interesting that in the MMORPG genre three P2P games in front of the first B2P game are listed.
There are no F2P MMORPGs on the list.
That's because:
F2P games are smaller in scope (barring the financial failures of the big budget P2P titles that had to transition to F2P to survive)
F2P games aren't built on a grandiose budget and are more suited toward smaller populations.
Developers and studios of F2P titles are not made to be big blockbuster games, their made with much smaller population bases in mind.
The list does nothing to reinforce any negative connotation about F2P you may have. F2P titles are much smaller in scale and will always be more beneficial to the players who play them. The only negatives you can take away from F2P is that it is the only business decision for "Failed" big budget MMO's. IMO big budget all-inclusive MMO's should never be made.
Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

sales of 2.7M for Diablo Reaper of Souls in first week (last week of March)
Based on the Diablo 2 RS number then TESO sold 1.2M (factoring the percentages). Some issues around this "wild guess":
D2 RS will have sold more copies in April - so an underestimate.
assumes equal play time for D2 RS and TESO - people will have binged out on D2 in March so an overestimate
Based on WoW's worldwide sub number TESO sold 2.6M. Issues (factoring the percentages and the hours played). The big issue with this number is that:
TESO was not on sale worldwide and guesstimates of WoW's EU/NA/ANZ sub numbers vary widely - but 50% tends to be the top estimate. At 25% TESO sales are 650k; at 50% 1.3M and more if a higher % is used.
Also WoW subs were probably lower in April but as we don't know the percentage this can be ignored.
So some calculations based on the Raptr data - and if accurate I don't think the numbers are that good. No point in repeating the 1.2M claim in this thread however.
Remember though that if anyone takes these numbers as gospel there will be another set in May and that could be supporting a sub number of under 500k.
Using a service that not everyone uses to show how well a game does (particularly on launch month where its going to have much higher numbers) yay! Totally not flawed!
By totally not flawed I mean its a terrible way to judge. Though good job using something besides xFire! That makes grabbing numbers from a random source less silly. By less silly, I mean just as silly but hey its a different source!
I hate these things. They show no picture of the industry. If they want to make something impressive, why not make a list of the "most played games" over 12 to 24 months? That would show me something.
I'll just say what i said before. If the sales/sub numbers where good, why isn't Zenimax talking about them? 1-2 million is a great number, no matter how much trolls who simply hate games would like to spin, specially if Zenimax came out and flat out called it a sucess.
Also, with that in mind, if layoffs start rolling like BW and FC, then we'll get a much better picture.

I'm curious how ESO fares with next month rankings

I have that bookmarked too. I will post on the 15th of next month to show that it dropped below the top 10-15. Mark your calendars.

Let's see what kind of spin the hate train can use on this one.

game tracking software like Xfire - gamers have to install the software on their PC

As opposed to making a post using a piece of software hardly anyone uses to somehow positively spin how the game is doing?
Only proof I need is what is happening in the game and it is not good.

out the top 15 you say? We'll see. There is some stiff competition there that ESO dusted last month.
Disclaimer: don't take this "seriously" !

Around 17 million in 2013.
