An Elite: Dangerous fan has made a new video from Alpha 4 to show off the way that hyperspace jumps will happen in game. E:D uses a unique system to send ships hurtling through space. Watch and learn!
WOW!
This is the first time we have had supercruise and the full hyperspace experience. You have to enter supercruiise, and all these different targets show up with orbits etc. You need to align with the target, then wow!
Much better than spinning ships!

I reckon this game will be the surprise hit of the year - the money is being spent on developing gameplay, rather than PR.
I think E:D does the simple things well - it's a solid foundation on which further expansions will be built (walking on planets etc).
Eventually, it should offer a sense of freedom and immersion that the Eve games don't have.
I like the idea of customising my ship. I look forward to using Oculus Rift with a HOTAS.
I played Elite on the BBC back in the day
and then Frontier on the Amiga ...
Ive always thought of Elite as a Newtonian Physics based Space Flight & Combat Simulator
where within that simulator you were free to trade, fight as a good guy or a pirate.
Very different to EvE ... which is a good thing (and yes, I play EvE)
and I hope that that trend continues, SG:E & DP both failed, sadly. I hope E:D doesn't.
Imagine this shizzle on the Occulus Rift?
SCLUURP!
