Gone 2 years, anything new?

rowlrowl Member Posts: 2

I have been gone for just about exactly 2 years from UO. I left back then because SWG had become my passion. Now that SWG is no moreimage, I am looking for a new MMORPG to get into.

What is changed over the past two years in UO that would make we want to come back? Any new quests, dungeons, graphics? I have characters that are grandmasters in just about everything that existed way back then.

Alot has changed too UO, I am nost sure when Age of Shadows came out, but since then Samuri Empires came out and Mondains Legacy came out not too long ago. From what I under stand there are like 100 quests now and you can be an elf, there is also a quest to change your human to an elf.

OMG!!! Yes, much has changed since 2003. So much so that much of the people who played then no longer play the EA servers.

I hope you didn't play a thief character, if so, don't bother playing it again, just delete and use that slot for something else. Looting has pretty much been eliminated too, so if you happend to be one of us evil griefer types image don't even fire the client up, because you will be very surprised that the game is nothing like you remember it like...la

Oh by the way I know Carl M'Roque in real life (I had Geoff M'Roque)... I figured you would know him since all the thieves on Atlantic were pretty close to eachother.

UO was my first mmo, I got it when I was 8::::33::

    Here's my experience with it:

When I first started..I killed a few monsters..getting to level 10 and being very pleased with myself.
But after fighting for a while..I got bored and logged out, only to find that I was killed by a bear, and had no idea where::::25::.

After much frustration, I decided to beg in town for some new gear. I hit the jackpot (or so I remember).

After playing again for some time, hitting level 16 or 17 (I forget) I logged off in town to be on the safe side.

When I logged in again I was once again, killed. This time I found my body..but there was no money, armor, anything..a player killed and looted me

I remember crying for a few days then going back to Runescape.::::21::

** There are no levels..wonder what made me think that?..Why would I make this up to flame a game I've never even played? If theres a way to look me up..try checking the name Slyfyre or something gay like that heh.

makes me wonder if he ever played at all.

    UO was great fun.

UO was the first game that allowed you to do whatever you wanted, when you wanted.

You know? It was like if you wanted to be a animal tamer, you could be.

    Neptus - WoW - Detheroc

I dont think UO is a bad game, just alot diffrent. I think i liked it more when it was LBR, but the new exp pack is not 100% bad :)

Why would you make something like that up? You obviously have never played UO, there are no levels.

i have to say that UO is the game that have given me my rather harsh look on other games and PvP... After all not many other games had you killed waiting to get in to the bank(or rather up to the bank) but anyhow. But i was fun and while i hardly know the places anymore and my old guild is nowere to be found... (that might have something to do with the fact that it was 3-4 years since i was realy activ... i reside in CoH these days after trying pretty mutch every mog out there. Still it holds a special place in my heart.

Anyhow cheers to any old Guardsmen militia members who might be reading this. You showed me how a real RP guild works.

This have been a good conversation

Yeah he's lying or is thinking of a different MMO because Ultima Online certainly did not have "levels" as we know them now, ala WoW.

I miss the old old old UO where you were afraid to go mining for fear of a "red" running up and wtfpwning you.  I too was on the Atlantic server.  Our smallish guild lived on the north side of Destard mountain (the one with the dragons between Skara Brae and Trinsic) then we moved some of our operations to the road just across the river from the Vesper bank.  We used to make so much dough selling recall scrolls and what not.  Anyone else remember BUX?  Those guys cornered the market on EVERYTHING!

Remember Goodman's Rune Library?  OMG so much nostalgia coming back right now.  LLTS!  "Ice Island" with the bridge of boats connecting it with the mainland!  GG

Goodman's is still there although Goodman himself passed away not too long ago.

Speaking of Roleplaying... Even with all the griefing, retards running around or what have you. I still have never seen more roleplaying in a game than I did in early UO.  I guess it was because the game was alot more relaxed in terms of skills and stuff than most leveling games, where you constantly bashing monsters to get that next Great sword of Whatever.
