Black Desert seems like a dream come true MMORPG

I've been watching it closely and I can't believe how I am excitingly in agreement with everything they are doing. So far I love everything about it. Everything, and that's rare for me because I'm picky about this kind of shit.

Here is one of many wonderful videos of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84QWLE_N6CI

I'm quite sure that there are people who think that about every single MMO that's ever been released.

Always nice to find a game that looks like it might be exactly what you're looking for. Let's hope it stays that way even after the game is released !

The graphics and animation look the best out of any MMO. The one thing that bothers me is that player characters look like Asian cartoons. It doesnt match the realistic world.
  • QuirhidQuirhid Member UncommonPosts: 6,230
Combat worries me. It doesn't look to have much depth in it (at the moment).

The game does seem too good to be true and I adore Asian cartoons so that is plus in my book.

An unreleased upcoming mmorpg seems like a dream come true? This must be the first time it as ever happened.

The problem is "LOOKS" like it might be great.A game is only as good as it's systems, simply having eye candy is NOT a game.

I see the same sort of response that Aion had,all the female players got excited about playing Barbie with the player customization "looks".IMO customization should be far advanced beyond JUST moving sliders and picking different colored hair.

If in the end all this game does is have you chase around yellow markers "like every other game" and has a shallow class and combat structure,it won't be a game worth spending time in.I might also point out that Vanguard tried to improve the view distance in gaming, since that time ,i see a lot of low LOD and fogged out areas at very short distances.I have also seen a distinct lack of colour in textures as well, almost like everything is a blueish gray or green Hue,that type of dumbed down graphics can ruin everything that is positive.

So for now this game is simply a game to watch,it is neither great nor bad,we just have to wait and see.

People say this about almost every mmo at this stage, once it's out and people get bored with it and see it's nothing really special they move onto idolising the next one.

What people are searching in BDO is the RPG aspect and the sandbox part. Personnaly, the GvG with keeps is what makes me, and my guild, want to play the game. Finally a MMORPG that promotes multiplayer and interactions between players, with a solid Eve-like economy.

It's kind of refreshing after the 2 themeparks Wow-clony of this year.

+ World and cities look georgous.

Beem keeping my eye on this one as well.  Looks like a more action oriented version of AA.

If Steparu says its a hardcore grinder then you can bet its going to be a monster grinder.
If thats you cup of thee then go for it.
To many of us these grinds are a big step back to having fun.

But there are plenty of mmo's currently on the market so to each his own flavor :)

    :OOOOO

Did you even try to look up all the features this game has? :O

Its basicly archeage with uber gfx - aircraft crafting

About the colors - bro you need to srsly stop trying to make opinion based on 1 vid you see, which is about RIDING HORSE THROUGH ONE ZONE!! - you know...maybe thats the reason everything has similar colors  -JUST LIKE A SINGLE COUNTRY IRL!!!

There are zones filled with deserts/swamps/sea and you need to wear a lighter armor in desert so you dont get tired! - yeah thats the depth we are talking about this game

The trading system is basicly much more complex EVE system, as you need to contribute to village in order to trade with that ville via caravans etc

COMBAT: You think Street fighter combat is easy? Well this game has combo system just as Fighter games, with NO autoaim, NOR tab target!

CUSTOMIZATION: You choose absolutely everything - including relationships and date of birth etc

QUESTING - you dont get exp for questing - you do them to have better relationship with NPCs which allow you building houses/buying houses/trading between cities/new gear/unlocking dungeons

plus parkour, minigames such as fishing/taming

    + housing/sieges/FFA PvP with loot/combat formations...

    Why do I even try

Just check this 4 minute video that covers all the basics of this game as fast as it can

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxNGbOWVBIU

Srsly, this game deserves all your attention, it does not have just uber gfx, it has pretty much everything you with from an MMO, Pearl Abyss seems to really really know what palyers want of an MMO (except the gender roles, which im fine with as there are almost mirrored classed for each gender which makes even more sense than traditional attitude that genders fight exactly the same way imo)

I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them

It looks nice. But I have to admit. I hate when every archer is wearing green pants and brown shirt. All tanks have same look . I dont care if I can give my self blue eyes and a mole. They all look the same on the field . Not even a change in the color schemes . But its still early .
  • ArakaziArakazi Member UncommonPosts: 911
As a rule, the more realistic the graphics are the more the flaws stand out. A bit like the uncanny valley. Things that wouldn't bother you in another game with low or cartoony graphics, will grate on the nerves here. Even small things like cows walking standing on top of a small boulder can bring you out the game. This is why I am always suspicious of hyper realistic environments. I can't comment on the gameplay or the quality of the MMO until I've tried it and the rest of us curb our enthuisiasm too.

The game looks absolutely beautiful; it's just too bad the combat system looks like something out of an arcade hack n slash game.  When I watch the videos, I keep waiting for a voice to come out of nowhere and say "Finish Him".

Black Desert looks pretty decent but so does Archage. These MMOs are very similar both offering Sandbox type experiences.

Black desert is...Super shady to say the least. Gala Inc. likes to take the money and run, then pretend nothing happened. They have an F rating with the BBB and have taken sooooo, much of their customers money. (Duam has done business with Gala inc. So I don't trust them by extension, because historically Gala inc. only does business with itself even if it looks not to be the case on the surface. And, I especially don't trust Duam since they have picked up other licenses that it seems they didn't originally develop).

Ummm you know its 2nd beta right?

In the first every one even looked the same (character templates) and people dumb enough to not realize its beta said boohoo everyone looks the same what a crap!

Then they released the most advanced character customization

    You see the pattern here?

Its one of the first betas, half the classes werent even playable at the moment, along with most of the content

So to your weird dislike - yes! there will be tons of different armors! This time there were basicaly 5 for each class 1 for each 10 lvls or so

It wasnt their focus this beta, for you to have shiny new armor

They were testing the mechanics, its not so hard to grasp the concept

Ugh ... why everyone keep watching these vids - they¨re over the top as the blur/effect is 100% on

You can tune it down to 0

Heres much much much better example of combat - PvP : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNZFlaSsA1Q

Still looks more fun than WoW combat.

This game... looks so beautiful. Non instanced housing? My dream.

To me this looks better than everything else on the market, and any game I've seen coming out.

    I might cry.

Things that look too good to be true usually fall short of expectations, especially in the MMO space. Let's see what finally gets released, when it gets released here in the west.

well a lot of things look promissing...some a bit meh...

i for example prefer worse graphics without pop ups...the viewing diestance seems to be kinda limited (at least for more details) and pop ups frequent... framerates seem also to be a big issue if you dont run a monster machine.

I am also quite disappointed with the very traditional class system and gender locks. The combat does look a bit too flashy for my taste.

But overall it looks very promissing...

The comparisons to AA bother me since many people I know who purchased the founders pack now regret it.  I am also concerned due to so many other games having the hype, then not living up the expectations.  The video showed some good things but they are also some things that look meh to me.  Until we can play it, I will simply wait and not put any stock into what anyone says.  We have all been down that road before and been burned.

Oh, so true.  I'm not even bothering to look at games until they've been released for a few months now.  I'm not judging this game, which may turn out to be great, but some company PR people really know how to show a turd to best advantage in their promo videos.
