I personally am most impressed with the 4 person instanced dungeons in this game

- they look breathtaking

- it makes the combat system shine

- its quite challenging for most average and a little above that players...

i havent had that much fun in a very long time, despite getting my arsses kicked from time to time...

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

I agree, but I've also found that, for whatever reason, people think that they don't need a healer. "Let's just give it a try without one...." Like, ummmmmmm, no. IDK why that is.

Lol true...OTOH, most can be done without a tank as long as everyone knows how to block and interrupt and has some CC.

So then you know that even with the undaunted's aggro, inner fire and its morphs, you can only hold the boss' attention when the boss mechanics allow you to... and my main alt (42 Templar) is also a tank... or a healer depending on need... so I know image

No offense meant to tanks... it's just the way the game is designed.

I haven't enjoyed a game's dungeons this much since Chocolate Rift first came out personally. The difficulty is right, the fights are fun and involved and not just a tank and spank style of game play. This is one area where ESO definitely outshines the rest imho.

    Currently Playing: ESO and FFXIV

Those are the open world Delves, which are not dungeons. Each of the 16 dungeons is unique.

I have done a few no healer runs but that only works when you have a dps'er like myself (templar) who can easily use all his magica on heals to cover and this also only works with a very good tank who can really mitage damage and self heal.  Its def doable but overcourse its better to just have the trinity heal tank dps but It def is doable without tanks or heals with the right team and they need skill/cordination really only something for a private group all on voice imo but def viable....

On topic I also really enjoying the game and the dung cant wait to see what craglorn has in store for us.

Yes, the group dungeons really do take me back to EQ1 (instanced) runs, which you really did need a solid group for and which you really could fail at if you weren't on your game.  Some of the open world bosses, especially at higher levels, can also really throw you for a loop; a group of three or four elites can effortlessly wipe out a half dozen unprepared players who run in and think "how hard could this be"?

I tried dungeons without a healer some times, it felt like dark souls. I tried without a tank once, poor healer became the new tank. I also like the 4-man dungeons, specially the vaults of madness but I wished they had a little more replayability

I get a real feeling of accomplishment when completing a dungeon. There is usually much dancing and cheering afterward!

I like blackhearts too...   there is an area and when you run in there are like 50 crows on the floor, and they fly off and away... the sound they make is so realistic... almost gave me goosebumps...

The only thing i would have done different is saving those 10 other dungeons not related to your homelands for the veteran ranks... ie the moment you actually visit the area it is in...

And then the actuall VR dungeons for VR 10

Have only done Fungal Grotto but one of the best features of the game, I really enjoyed it. Great interior and challenging bosses for the recommended level.

Went through with two other DPS that I didn't know, so without a dedicated healer there were a few deaths but we cleared it and had a blast doing so.

If a game is bad, mediocre or outstanding depends on the subjective opinion of every single player. While you consider TESO mediocre, many reviews consider it good and those who still play it after the free month consider it good to outstanding.

I'm sorry that you feel this way. As a 15 years MMO veteran I know this phase when all games seem to be mediocre at best. Having played so many MMOs it is almost impossible for new games to attract me, becuase they do not offer anything new. The thing is you focus on the bad things of certain features and therefore don't let them impress you by the basic idea behind the feature. Also, driven by negative emotions you are less likely to see certain features from a neutral standpoint.

One thing I find quite strange is that you think you may add value to this discussion, even though you have only played one single public dungeon. It is not possible to objectively rate a game, if you have only scratched the surface.

Having read your posting and another of your postings about dungeon design, I have the feeling that you totally got the dungeon thing wrong.

    The game offers you:

    1) Public Solo Dungeons

The solo dungeons should be understood an additional small hideout to be cleared. Never expect big background stories or challenging encounters. These dungeons are based upon modular development and look quite similar. However, if you take into consideration that these dungeons often are aligned towards certain races and serve a certain purpose, for example nord tombs or aedric ruins, similar design is not that disturbing.

    2) Public Group Dungeons

These dungeons may be entered solo, but will face you with challenging opponents, both bosses and groups of monsters. It is strongly recommend to group or run together with other players. These dungeons usually come with a unique design. Crow's Wood, the first Public Group Dungeon of Ebonheart Pact in Stonefalls is a good example. You are presented with a large area with different monsters, several boss monsters and a compelling background story / quest. In Daggerfall Covenant this first Public Group Dungeon is Bad Man's Hollow in Glenumbra. Both dungeons invite you to exploration.

    3) Instanced group dungeons

The classic instanced group dungeons. They are handcrafted, offer interesting background stories and are a lot of fun. Especially when reaching veteran ranks these dungeons become quite challenging.

In my opininon this is a nice mix. With the adventure zone and special 4-man challenges around the corner, I think Zenimax did a really good job. There is plenty of things to do and have fun with.

One thing that I would like to see in the future is a extremely large dungeon that maybe only allows ressurection at the entrance of the dungeon. Something like a deep exploration dungeon. If you fail, you have to start all over again. Can be frustrating, but also very challenging and rewarding if you finally explore it to its full extent.

If you can handle PUGs , use the grouping tool, it works quite well....   Like a 15 minute wayt, or no wayt if you choose to tank...

however dont expect  a perfect group. But a challenge it is

Agree, the instanced dungeons are a blast.

I pug, exclusively, as a tank and have had some really interesting groups (melee only, no healer, all tanks...lol; sometimes I think people just queue as a healer to get a group, though their healing ability does not extend beyond the ability to hold a healing staff....), to say the least.

Many wipes do inevitably ensue, but it is very, very entertaining none-the-less.
